Unfortunately all of the band except myself and Lynn have now got covid after the bike rally gig on Sat night. Since heard that quite a few had it from the Fri. I had it 10 days ago but all clear tests Fri & Sat morning meant it wasn't me that passed it on. Looks like our private birthday party gig this Sat night will be cancelled. Dave Have to say it was no worse than a head cold for me and no serious symptoms and what i did have lasted 1-2 days.

I think that was a big part of it plus i didn't always get the US sense of humour. We definitely view things in a different way. Dave

On the other hand i've spoken with some really nice guys on TB too who have been exceptionally helpful with one offering to sell me his Mesa TT800 at enough of a reduced cost that even adding import tax etc it worked out same as a new one which wasn't too bad as there was no chance of getting one for few yrs but it was too much of a risk getting it sent over and i didn't want to risk that offer of friendship with it getting lost in transit. Still a great offer when he could have sold it in US for almost new price. Met some really nice people on TB so its not all bad but with the amount of members you are bound to get the bad ones. BC is more like a big family of friends that want to help each other no matter what the issue is, good or bad. That's why i like being on BC. Dave

That's good news and seems like a quick response to you as well. Fingers crossed you have a replacement soon. Think its worth sticking with the Keeley as they do seem to make good gear but like everything electronic you will get a faulty unit once in a while. Yours must have been a Mon morning hangover unit. Our male singer has been doing a solo Glam act for many years and our drummer was in The Glitter Band in 90's era and has played some huge stadiums. He was good friends with The Sweet back in the day and even had some lessons from the amazing Mick Tucker. I think he lived near Steve Priest altho he was a good bit younger than them. Our guitarist had been doing the Glam thing for 13yrs until their singer left for NZ. We started in 2018 but took a year faffing about trying different keys but gave up on them and settled for Lynn who was the singer in the punk covers band i'm now in too. We benefited far more with Lynn sharing vocals with Mickee than we ever got from keys. Keys players are an odd bunch. We were just getting things all sorted and gigs coming in when BAM covid struck and it all stopped. Not enough time to get a following yet so started from scratch last year again. I did play in Hot Love from Glasgow who have been doing the Glam covers thing for many years too. I was there 17th bass player LOL Great guys but they wanted to gig 2-3 times a week and i had just retired from work and found it all a bit too much. Learned their set in 3 weeks, no rehearsals as singers Dad passed away just after i joined. After 7-8 days i was told a lot of the songs were in different keys from originals and had to redo them, then after first 2 gigs that weekend they asked me to learn another 20 songs within 10 days. Just too much for me i'm afraid i needed a break from learning songs. I still keep in touch with them as they are all really nice guys in Hot Love. And that is our band history in short Dave

From what i read about Keeley they are a very well respected company and hopefully your dealer will simply replace under warranty. I wouldn't want a repair done either. As its new you are entitled to a replacement unit. Keep us posted how you get on. Dave

Yep i hear it. Its like a slight hiss as it turns red to green. I dont get that on mine and i tried mine at a decent volume at home just to check for you. I dont think it would be noticed in a band set up but it would annoy me that something isn't right and if something is failing now you dont know how or if that will worsen as time goes on. Dave

We've not done a lot of them but the band is only now managing to get started with pandemic holding us back just as the gigs were coming in fast then we had a change of guitarist altho Colin is exceptional and knew 80% of our set from when he was in Lieutenant Stardust so that helped. Gigs starting to come in now for this year and next so all good. Love doing this Glam stuff. Great fun and everyone seems to enjoy themselves. Its funny how a lot of the younger generation recognise most of the songs too. Good to see you guys are well booked up. That's always a good sign for us going ahead. 👍 Dave

Just clocked your impedance match calculator. That's a handy wee calculator that many people could use. I know you've probably posted it before but might be worth refreshing everyone's memory and post again. Cheers for having it on your posts. Liking that. I'm an electrical / electronic engineer so its easy for me to calculate in my napper but not everyone fully understands it. I've seen a lot of queries on the Mesa threads mainly on TB to be honest because the new Subway amps go down to 2ohms and people don't get how to calculate for 3 or even 4 cabs. Lot of the new amps go down to 2 ohms and maybe a wee update to show it would be pretty nice if that's an option of course. Just a thought. Dave

Checked mine and its totally silent. No matter what I do with it there's no noise. Here's my settings.

To be fair we've not had a bad gig with this band and with our new guitarist joining last year its just going from strength to strength. Our singer mentioned something at the break in changing room that the one thing he's loving about the band is the fun we have and the sense of humour we all have. We can slate each other and not take it seriously but we just seem to be laughing a lot when we get together. I'm probably quite lucky but both bands are great fun altho its the same drummer singer and bass player in both bands Dave

Tried your settings at the gig last night but found the distortion/overdrive was a bit too heavy for me so took the distortion button out. That sorted it. Its amazing how much the amp tone changes at gig volume. Was using my VM4 active bass to be fair. Liked the mids at 3 o'clock and it made a huge difference to my overall tone. I was able to get far more flexibility of tone with the mids at 3. Use my Roland GR6B to flick between my normal smooth bass tone to a more Ric type tone and having the mids up on the amp gave me far more bite on the Ric tone. Dave
