When you see musicians that are really happy at what they do and miming all the words and dancing along while playing its very infectious. My older brother was a big fan of them and i remember the song Lights Out as being an oustanding song. My brother took me to see them in 70's after he bought the album that Lights Out was on but cant remember what the tour or year it was but i still have the programme for it somewhere in my collection. Not prog but a great rock band with some very talented musicians. Dave

If you like the NYXL's try the XT's hopefully they will last a bit longer than your NYXL's. Smoother on the fingers than EXXL's or NYXL's too. Dave

The XT's are coated NYXL's as far as i know and from memory they sound the same as the set of NYXL strings i tried. Only reason i didnt buy another set was they didn't last any longer than my EXL's. The XT's are about £32 depending where you buy them. I bought mine on next day delivery Amazon Prime. The NYXL were around £10 more if i remember right. Dave

Put the XT's on my Sandberg VM4 and used it today at 6hr rehearsal. Have to say i like the tone and they are a lot nicer on the fingers. Not as harsh as a new set of EXL190's but nice and clear thru the range. More like a broken in set of EXL190's. If they last longer than my EXL's then its a big plus and could be cheaper in the long run. Definitely liked the feel of the strings 45-100 rather than my usual 40-100 but didn't notice any great difference in that respect. Dave

Just back from 6hr rehearsal with the WB-100 and my Mesa SW210 & 115 cabs. What a tone with everything flat. Didn't seem too loud with gain at 1 o'clock and master at 12 until guitarist fired up his Freidman amp with his normal volume and i realised how loud i was. Brought the master back to 11 and it was nice in the mix. Please note that this would be my normal gigging volume balanced against our drummers volume. Using my Sandberg VM4 with bass boosted a bit on the VM4 i found i had to increase the mid to 1 o'clock for a little bit more definition. When i wanted a more Ric tone i just hit the Bright button and there it was. I was able to go from my normal warmer P type tone to a nice clanky Ric style tone at the press of a button. On some Glam songs i had to tweak the VM4's treble back a touch. When i was digging in i could hear the overdrive kicking in just enough to keep me happy. The amp has a natural compression and i was able to keep a nice even volume thru each song using fingerstyle with some fingernail click on the more raunchy songs. When i was experimenting a bit i hit the drive button and it was pretty full on overdriven tone but that's not really for me. At higher volumes the overdriven tone is more prominent than at home volumes. Something to be wary off when you start gigging @Clarky All in all the amp has a great clarity with lots of valve depth of tone just what i was hoping for. Very very pleased with the amp today. This is the tone i had in my head. Its been a bit of a journey to get the amp i've been dreaming off (18mths) thru the wait for a Mesa TT800 and then the revised WB-100. Leszek has been exceptionally helpful and understanding throughout and i really can't fault the guy on how he does business and makes amazing amps. Job done i reckon. Whether i would ever buy from outside the UK is another story but that's just been my personal story. Others had no issues with postal service. Dave

Put the XT 45-100 on my Sandberg VM4 and they feel nice and have a very twangy tone same as the NYXL from memory. Will use at rehearsals tomorrow and see how they get on. Dave

Decided to order a set of D'Addario XT 45-100 strings. £31.99 on Amazon free delivery tomorrow so not too bad if they last longer. Dave

My EXL190's are £24 the XT's are £33 at the moment in Strings Direct. If the XT's last 6 mths or more they will be far better value for money for me. Dave

Cheers @Misdee that's a good simple comparison. Quite fancy trying the D'Addario XT's to see how they play out. I like my EXL190's but sometimes they just dont last very long and wondered if something similar sounding and feel might last longer. Dave

I gave up on the NYXL's after a few gigs as they seemed to die pretty quick. Certainly didn't last as long as i had hoped. Might give the XT's a shot. Curious how they compare on tension to standard EXL nickels. Also curious how they compare to Elixir strings. I found the Elixir a bit more tension than my EXL190's. Dave

Parcelforce was courier. That's same company that delivered both from Poland so its a complete mystery unless i've used a different commodity code. I used a valve bass amplifier code so maybe because there are glass valves they wont ship by plane. Dont know what code Leszek used. Cant see valves making a difference. I've never sent anything abroad that needed customs paperwork like this. Dave

I used to put Elixir strings on my Thumb bass when they first came out but i found them a little stiff. Maybe the new versions have less tension. What did you find with them. I killed a new set of D'Addaios at a very hot gig where i was sweating a lot. I've never experienced a set of strings going after one gig. Dave

Thanks for that, longevity was one of the reasons i was going to change over to them. No point changing as they are both similar prices. Dave

New update :- Replacement amp arrived today and is working perfectly. Didn't take as long as first one. Clarity of tone and an amazing depth. With the amp running flat is thunderous even at lower volumes. I had to dial the bass EQ back to around 9-10 o clock on the amp to get a home tone i liked without rattling pics on the wall. I can now get that overdriven valve tone. Downside is that the original amp i returned was sent back to me from customs in UK stating it was too DENSE and they could not verify what was in the box with their scanning equipment and therefore they could not ship by plane. I've been offered a full refund on postage. Leszek is having a think about what to do next as he's confused too. Dave

Does anyone know what the string tensions are for Dunlop nickel 40-100 and 45-105. I'm thinking of trying them but they mention a light tension and i'm not sure i want less tension than my D'Addario EXL190's. It may well be its negligible. Dave
