  1. So what you're telling me is that you can play worse better than me Dave
  2. I could do bad slap too if that's an option. Dave
  3. To be honest my 3 fav bands are Rush, Genesis and Floyd but very rarely listen to them nowadays but i still class them as my fav bands. Dave
  4. I've just remembered one that i have used at punk venues and its Gotta Getaway by SLF. Not coming from a Punk background i definitely like the early SLF basslines. Dave
  5. More like Scone Palace in Perth pronounced Scoon Palace by most but if you like a tattie scone its "different but the same". I think there might be a Rush link in that last phrase somewhere. Dave
  6. Just had a go at bass line on Good Times and i'll be doing that on Sat night while setting up. Very nice we bass line. Dave
  7. Having now read thru all of this thread i need to up my game and show off a little. Some great song mentioned on here. Dave Edited to add that i've just downloaded the bass line for the original Good Times by Chic and quite fancy doing a bit of that altho getting that mid punch from my bass rig could be harder than learning the song LOL
  8. Was setting up with the punk band few weeks ago and while waiting on drummer finishing his set up i quietly played a bit of the Money bass riff and a guy sitting right in front of me rolled his T-shirt sleeve up to show a large Pink Floyd tattoo. Knowing that i did a bit of One of these Days after our break while getting ready for set 2 and he clocked it right away within about 1-2 secs. I was impressed Dave
  9. Nothing particular to be honest. If FOH i usually play Money by Pink Floyd as it covers all 4 strings and i was told is ideal for the SE to set up the bass channel. Occasionally for a laugh i would play the opening line to Summer Loving from Grease. That always produces a reaction LOL When the singer introduces the band i generally just take a bow or a nod of acceptance but dont play anything on the bass. Dave
  10. When i was very, very young in the 60's YES. My first ever single was The Beatles at age 3-4 yrs old All My Loving EP (I still have it) I went thru so many different types of music over the years but last year i decided to listen to some of my Wife's Beatles albums and thoroughly enjoyed them and then the movie about the young guy that sings the Beatles songs when no-one else knows them came on TV earlier this year and again i thoroughly enjoyed them. My fav band of all time.......NO but they were great in their own time like so many other bands that have faded into a bit of obscurity to the younger generation. That's life as we know it 👍 I would have to say the fact you are now talking about them on BC does highlight the impact they had on music. Dave
  11. Sorry to hear you're having problems with a Mesa amp. I'm more surprised you managed to get one in UK with Mesa not supplying outside the US until later this year hopefully. Hopefully you get it sorted. Have you asked Andy @agedhorse if he can help. He's a gear guru as far as i'm concerned. Always very helpful and seems to be a very nice guy too. Dave
  12. Hope the health issue is sorted and good to see you back out again Daryl. All the best Dave
  13. That's so annoying. Hopefully they find it quickly and get it delivered to you. Dave
  14. I've got a decent range of basses in here Lee. I have the Overwater J4 twin humbucker which is OK but not really a tone i would use in my bands. Its nice to play tho. Dave
  15. That looks interesting Lee. GLWTS I've only ever tries the original MM Stingray basses when they first appeared and couldn't take to the necks. I like my slim J basses. Dave
  16. I just remember all gear was very heavy back in 70's/80's. Of course i was only 9.5st back then. I once had a Trace Elliot 410 combo in late 80's and that weighed a lot. My custom flightcased cabs were also on the very heavy side and most of my gear was a 2 person lift back then. Dave
  17. Amazing tone. Certainly a great bass rig altho that cab will be a heavy beast. Dave
  18. As you say its too big. If you follow any thread at all you get constant pings on your phone or laptop with all the new notifications you get on the thread. Now i just go in to any threads i follow as and when i feel like it and have cancelled the notifications to my email account. There is a lot of good stuff in there but it takes ages to find the good bits on any thread. Dave
  19. I have the SW 210 & 115 cabs at the moment and i'm really happy with them. I did have the TT800 on order for a year (paid for in full) when Mesa stopped supplying outside the US and my order was cancelled but its a long voluted tale best left alone now. If they start supplying UK again i will be placing my order again. I have a HandBox WB-100 at moment and altho i love the tone i wanted the twin channel Mesa. I just love what Mesa do, tone is 2nd to none and build quality is by far the best i've come across in all my 45 years. I have an Mpulse 600 but its a bit of a beast in its rack case and i keep it as a back up for my Handbox all valve head. I wanted to go full Mesa lightweight and got the cabs before the shutdown from Mesa. Had i not managed to get the cabs i would probably have gone down a different route with another manufacturer. I prefer keeping my amp and cabs same mfr. No real reason for that to be honest. Dave
  20. I assumed it was a stage prop but best not go into that too deeply. Dave
  21. Weird why people do that. What's the point ? Anyhow, i have owned basses with lacquered or painted necks and cant say they ever really bothered me. Oddly enough i found my Warwick Thumb NT was bad for my hand sticking on the back of the neck usually into the latter part of a gig. It almost felt like the sweat / dirt from my hand had built up and clogged up the neck. I had to regularly wipe it clean after every 2-3 songs to stop that happening. That was in the days when smoking was allowed in venues so that wont have helped. Venues used to hot sticky, manky places in the good ole' days 😂 Dave
  22. Do dogs have earlobes ? the 4 legged ones i mean.
  23. I thought you were joking and googled it. Its true enough. Now that's a fun fact.
  24. I always thought that might be the case.
  25. Is that not a bit unusual to archive the site but not the transcriptions. ? Dave
