I dont have a VS but if i select just the P pick up on my VM4 it doesn't have the same warm depth that i get from my P basses even boosting the bass EQ on the bass its a nice deep tone but again i find my P bass has a bit more warmth. That's maybe because one bass is passive and the other active so its not a like for like scenario. Curious to hear what passive VS4 owners come bacck with. I'd really like a passive California VS4 for the build quality but i'd like that vintage warmth of a Fender P bass. Could always change the pick up over to be honest. Dave

Liking that. Will have a look on Amazon for it. Cheers for that. Dave

I remember thinking the song was catchy but it was definitely the bass line that got my attention. If i'm honest i thought when they split up that was the end like most pop bands but Nick has gone from strength to strength since those days. Recently brought back to my attention again with Steve Hackett and Steve Wilson (he obviously likes Steve's 😂) Amazing player and he always comes across as such a nice guy. Dave

Fun Thread , Have You Ever Been Asked For Your Autograph ?
dmccombe7 replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
Not my autograph but i've been asked for a cuddle after a punk gig and for pics with people after the Glam gigs. Have been asked to go on a date with 2 ladies even tho they had no idea what i actually looked like without the gear on plus i said my wife who was sitting next to the stage might not approve. I did find that one particularly funny. Oddest one was a pic of the band after the gig without the Glam gear on by a German girl. (sounded like a German accent) Dave -
Superb news Jay. You have the patience of a Saint sir but you wont be disappointed in the amp and well worth the wait. Wishing you all the very best Jay and keep us all posted. Dave

Bought a Gramma Pad from Jose and he did everything exactly as he said he would and even met me at an area closer to me than i expected. Such a nice guy to talk to and what a cracking beard he has. If only all transactions were this good. Cheers Dave

That's how i calculated it when i bought the WB-100 but it only came to £47 so wasn't complaining. I had assumed 20% VAT plus Import Tax at 3%. For an amp of this quality at under £1k for the WB-100 incl all taxes and perhaps £800 max incl taxes its still far superior to any other amp of this type. Honestly you wont be disappointed. I've now gigged mine a fair bit and it just gets better and better. I love it. Dave

The first WB-100 i got was circa £840 and had no additional taxes. Came straight to me from Parcelforce. The 2nd one had £47 additional taxes etc. thru Customs. Seems to be a hit or miss whether it goes thru customs checks for additional charges ??? Dave

Comes to us all Daryl. 😂 Dave

Ooohh they do look nice. Hope the owners enjoy as much as i'm enjoying my WB-100. Built to last. Good luck and all the best with it @Jaybeevee Dave

Yep that's a nice looker that one. Au' naturale. Dave

We did that with the Glam band. We hired a venue and sold tickets plus pay at the door. You'd be surprised how many friends and family a band can pull together. We agreed if it wasn't a success we would at least break even and it was just a paid rehearsal if nothing else. We've also had recent gigs where clubs have told us prior to booking us that a lot of people are still not coming out but they still booked us. Some gigs have been less than busy but again we treat them as paid rehearsals and we still put on the same full show. With the punk band i only joined a year ago after the pandemic and audiences haven't been anywhere near where they were pre-pandemic in same gigs the band have always done. Things are now starting to pick up and we've had a few fully booked gigs with the Glam band and getting better for 2023. If all you want is to play together as a band then do it any which way you can, the money doesn't really matter at this stage. Its simply about playing together as a band in front of an audience no matter how big or small it is. I'd say go for it. Dave

Not a bad thing. We can tap into it when we need info Dave

I saw you mention this earlier too and wasn't aware of that either. I'm learning more about DP and Coverdale early days than i thought possible. I always assumed i knew the history but NOPE you can teach an old dog new tricks after all. Never too old to learn. Cheers for this, i like it when i hear little facts from my younger years i wasn't aware off. Its like ddiscovering a long lost song from your fav band. Dave

Oddly enough it was an older guy i worked with that told me about some of the 60's rock bands including Trapeze and Iron Butterfly and when i listened to Trapeze i was fair taken aback with them. Hughes vocals were superb and to this day i still class him as an influence on how i play more so for the tone he gets and the feel of the songs he writes. Dave

Its funny with Paul Rodgers being mentioned i can hear similarities in Coverdale's vocals on this that i had never really noticed before. Must admit that i preferred earlier Whitesnake because there was more definition across the band. This sounds good. I have the first few Whitesnake albums with Fool for your Loving being one of my fave rock songs. Dave

Definitely didn't think the MM pup sounded like a Stingray pup. Nothing like it. It lacks the bite or edge of the Stingray. I tend to run my VM4 pick up selector in the centre point. It just suits what i'm doing in the Glam covers band. I will tweak the treble up and down to suit the different basses used back in the day and i can go from a smooth P bass tone to an edgy Ric-ish type tone or enough so to hear that treble edge come thru the mix. Audience probably never notice the difference but it makes me feel better. 😂 Dave

You've now convinced me to put a passive California VS4 on my GAS list. Unfortunately that list just gets bigger and bigger. 😂 Dave
-
That's more of a "who the heck dropped that" Cool bass and nice stage layout. Thanks for sharing the Bass Face, not many players would be so brave. Dave
-
Thanks for that Matt. I've seen the Electra basses for sale in BD at circa £600 or thereabouts but not sure how good they are compare to the California range. The passive California VS4's are quite rare. Most i see are the active ones. Dave

I had no idea DC had 2 solo albums before Whitesnake band started and always thought Trouble was his first album after DP. Every day a scchool day on BC. Cheers for that Pete, i'll go have a listen to them now. Dave

Out of curiosity were the VS4 and TT4 the California range or Electra versions. ? I like the P bass tone but the quality of Fender is nowhere near the Sandbergs i have. Dave
