Under the circumstances one mistook on the night is pretty impressive. I've been playing same songs in 2 different bands one Punk covers and the other 70's Glam Rock covers and i still make the occasional mistake. When i do it annoys the heck out of me and i polish up on that particular song for the next gig. I do tend to run thru parts or all of the sets every day even if its just one set. Dave

It always amazes me how some of you guys can dep at the last minute. Huge respect, i couldn't do that without some practice at home beforehand. Best i've managed was 2-3 weeks before a gig altho the songs were all new to me. Dave

Emergency Exit punk gig last night. (freebie) Was a weird one. It was to honour a friend of the band who passed away during covid and the family asked if we would play as she was a big fan of the band. This was before i joined. Large fancy hotel gig with all the women wearing party frocks / dresses. That was a sign that we were not an ideal band for this kind of gig. 1st set was quiet with hardly anyone dancing but we were getting plenty of clapping, whistles and cheering after every song. (maybe not enough drink involved yet). 2nd set saw a big change with some songs filling the floor and then all of a sudden we were back to 5 or 6 dancers. By the end of the set we had quite a few back on the floor for most songs and we got an encore but it was hard work at the start. Using my trusty Sandberg Marlowe and my Mesa Mpulse and Subway 210/115 cabs. Hopefully we wont be asked to do that again. Dave

100% agree. ELO Experience one of the best bands i've ever seen. If you get a chance go and see them. The girls on cello are brilliant, bopping away and singing along all night. The full band is superb Dave

I could hear you in Biggar, i thought it was a long train passing. Dave

Dont remind me of the TT800. 😂 For a few years it was my dream amp and may yet come into my hands when things settle down but at the moment the WB-100 has a tone to die for and i cant fault it in that respect. Dave
-
Seriously you will not be disappointed by these amps Jay. The tone is so sweet. I tried the R-400 yesterday and its very close to the WB-100. So so nice. Warmth and clarity. Seriously great kit and very lightweight too. Trust me it will be well worth the wait for you. Dave

@Clarky has been on PM with me since we started looking at HB amps and we've been thru everything we could think off. I have to repeat that Leszek has been exceptional throughout and i couldn't ask for better support from a manufacturer so please keep that in mind. I believe something has happened on its trip from Poland to UK. Throughout this the amp sounds so so sweet, it has a clarity and warm depth of tone without the muddiness i've heard on other all valve amps. I mean this is "THE TONE" it really doesn't get any better than what you hear from this amp. Its as if i've combined a modern EBS pre-amp with a qood quality all valve power amp. Everything flat its absolutely gorgeous. Mine is a one of incident and we will get it sorted and for those interested in a HB amp i would strongly recommend you go for it. You will not be disappointed with the build quality and most of all the tone. Sublime. Dave

There is a demo from 4 yrs ago using the original WB-100.

You are now adding an opinion to the issue and i would suggest its best to just stop now as i have done.

I wrote on the forum to see if anyone could offer advice on what it might be. If it was a simple fix and to see if anyone else has experienced similar and how they dealt with it. My apologies if it upsets Leszek, that wasn't really my intention. I'll refrain from posting further. Dave

I've sent Leszek a few vid clips of what i'm hearing. He has a plan but i need to wait to see if its workable. To be fair he has offered a replacement or a full refund. You cant get much fairer than that. Leszek has been very helpful and understanding about it. I cant fault him with how he is dealing with the issue. Dave

Sorry guys but i'm just not convinced the amp is ok. No matter what i set the amp at i'm not getting that same overdriven valve sound you hear on the official HB vid from 4yrs ago. The guy in the VID had his master at around 11 o'clock and gain full up and was getting a similar overdriven sound as you were getting on your sound clip @Clarky . I've tried the amp at full volume and bringing the gain up but it is far too loud in the house. I can only get to 50% on master and bringing the gain up the amp doesnt distort it just goes into that farting noise once i get above the crunch mark or i hit the drive button. If i hit the drive button all it does it increase the volume slightly but no distortion no matter where the gain is set. ? So i'm not convinced all is ok with this amp. Leszek suggested i was playing too hard so i replicated the settings from the official vid clip from 4yrs ago and used my P bass same as in the clip and i get that farting sound. I just dont get that normal smooth overdriven sound from this amp at all. I've just messaged Leszek again about what i've been trying. I'm going over the various vid reviews to see what settings have been used. Dave

I brought the gain back to 12 o'clock and a little bit lower and i could still hear it when i played hard. UPDATE :- Leszek got back to me today and with the settings i have on the amp he said the pre is being overloaded. You cant run these amps at low master volumes when at home. He suggested running the master at 100% and adjust Gain to suit. I did that and it works perfectly altho very very loud even with gain just off the bottom. I then dropped master to 50% and brought Gain up to the "crunch" marked point on the gain and still sounded ok. I then hit the drive button on and i could hear the valves working harder. I tried playing quite hard even at those high volumes of 50% and no farting distortion now. Leszek suggested i always run with master at full and adjust Gain for my working volume. So it looks like the pre-amp was overloaded because the master was so low. I've not had an all valve amp for about 40 yrs when i had Marshalls. I've had valve pre-amp ones where i addjusted the gain to get that slight distortion and adjusted my master for working volume. All valve amps appear to be a different way of working. Leszek said these amps are not really for home use. I have a punk gig on Sat night and will really put it thru its paces. One thing i would say is that the tone is almost like a modern sounding amp with the depth of an all valve amp. I've never come across that kind of tone before in an all valve amp. So so nice. I'm now back to being happy again.

If Leszek is ok with it i'll open it up and check the valves are all seated and secure. I have some spare pre-amp valves from my Ampeg days and can swap them out if needed. I can do basic checks if he wants but anything more will require test kit. Dave

Here's what i'm hearing from the amp. Gain was at circa 2 o'clockish and bass at 1 all else flat. Initially starts with drive selected and then without. Sandberg Marlowe passive bass with volume full. I cant get a normal valve distortion from the amp really no matter what i try. Nothing like @Clarky gets on the soundclip he sent me. Any thoughts on what might be the cause. ?
-
Hope so. Its quite rare to hear of anything like this on a HB amp but with the way my lucks been with amps in past 18mths its not what i needed. Dave
-
If it needs to be returned tho it will be another 2 months before i see it again. Dave
-
Well it was returned to the depot 30 miles away. No reason. I called customer services and gave them an ear full that its been missing for 2 weeks and has been sitting in their depot since 5am Fri and tomorrow is another strike day. They contacted the depot who agreed to let me collect. I now have the WB-100 and it sounds wonderful except for when the drive button is selected and it sounds like a deep crackle rather than a distortion. I've sent Leszek a message with a vid to let him hear the noise. Gain was set at 1 o'clock when i first noticed it but at 3 it was very worrying and at full gain it was like a damaged circuit board or a dodgy lead. With the drive button out it sounded fine. I have no idea what could cause that and am waiting to see what Leszek comes back with. I'll get a better pic tomorrow when flash wont be needed. Dave

Aye .........me. Still waiting Even Leszek has been asking today. Usual parcelforce lack of information delivery service. At least the other companies give you a morning or afternoon delivery and some have live tracking on where the van is and how many deliveries before yours. Not Parcelforce tho. Is it any wonder the bosses want upgrades and modern technology brought into the company. Dave
-
Mine is out for delivery. Hopefully today i will be the owner of a WB-100 Dave

4 hr gig with a 20 min break. Bloomin heck !!!!!! I simply couldn't do that. My fingers would be shredded. I manage a 3 hr set on occasion with Glam band because i dont play as hard with my fingers but 4 is out of my league. Huge respect @Bluewine I'm a member of a band that has refused money for a gig. Just after pandemic we were asked to play a larger venue on a Sun afternoon 1-3pm. We turned up (punk band) and the venue was almost empty. Most of the people there were people that knew the band from that local area and had come along. The owner had laid on food and free drinks etc. At the end of the gig the owner who was really happy with the band gave us the fee and the band had already discussed just take enough to cover fuel cost but the owner wouldn't have it and insisted we take the full fee. A deal's a deal they said. The Sun afternoon thing was a new venture to see if they could start pulling in a crowd on a Sun afternoon. We were the first band to try it and he was aware that it was going to be a risk. Also played 2 free gigs after the pandemic for 2 venues the band play regularly as a helping hand to get them back up and running. 2 small bar venues that were struggling to get people back in again. It was agreed before i joined the band but i was ok with it at the time. Not sure i'd be doing it again. Those were unusual times. Dave
