1. Gallien Krueger MBE 2x12 with a bit of extra bracing. I think the Mk.1 models are still in stock on Thomann for around the £200 mark. Liam
2. You can use the power out on the TU3 without a problem, i do it on my TU2 all the time. As for the cables, i use one that came with my bigger PSU which i don't use often, it's just a cable with a 9v plug on each end. I may have a spare lying around i could send you, i'll have a check when i get home. Liam
3. My GAS for a 69'er is abnormally high. With either an Orange AD-200B (If i can be bothered to carry one) or a Terror Bass on top. Mmmmm Liam
4. Another vote for a secondhand Japanese Precision. I haven't had flats on mine, but i had no doubt i could achieve those sorts of tones if i did string it with flats. Liam
5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiYa4rRw6vY I trust Reunion Blues stuff, i just can't afford it. Liam
6. On the crotch usually, at a few inches short of arms length for picking. If i use my PolyPro strap i can essentially but the bass down on the floor with it still being on my shoulder. Liam
7. Dragonforce's latest album. There's a few really nice fills and solo sections from Fred on there, they've finally learnt that the bass channel fader goes up as well as down... 2:56ish, nothing too difficult, but it just works. I used to hate all of their singles, but they've really hit it out of the ballpark with The Power Within. If you watch Episode 3 of their making of videos, it shows how insane Vadim is on the keys as well. Liam
8. Musicman Stingray and (I expect to be disagreed with) Bongo, but only if it's a Stealth Black Bongo 5/6 HH. Oh and most things with a metalflake finish, especially if it's bright, such as neon pink/purple/blue with matching LED's. Edit: Actually, i'd be surprised if anyone agreed with me on anything other than the Stingray from that Liam
9. Dawsons, just outside of Picadilly Gardens is my favourite. Chase (Just up the road from Afflecks Palace, again just outside Picadilly Gardens) is good but it's mostly Shine brand stuff and the occasional cheapo Stingray copy or Jackson, quite a small shop but a lot of guitars and basses. There's also Forsyths on Deansgate, although their bass selection is minimal (from what i remember) but it's good to look at all the guitars i can never afford. Those are the 3 i visit, mostly Dawsons though. There's PMT in Salford as well but i've not been myself. Others on here will have though. Liam
10.
I then saw this red bass, I thought it was a really ugly bass(just my taste-sorry) but thought i'd try it anyway. It was amazing better than all the others but maybe just edged by the jazz. There was no price on it so I thought this one must be really expensive. At the time I had no idea about this brand of guitars so I asked the guy how much it was. He said he didn't know but he'd go and find out. I thought "I'm right, its gonna be pricey. He returned and it turned out it was an Ibanez gsr 200 at £179. Ha I nearly fell off the stool. n. H
I had a GSR200 as my first proper (Not dying) bass and i still love it 5 years later. They're incredibly robust, and with a good setup, as you say, they play extremely well. Mine's taken a hell of a beating and it's still going (Albeit now a completely passive P/J covered in permanent marker, but it still works!) I haven't played many US Fenders, though the one's i have tried haven't been too bad at all. Not as good as my Japanese Fender does, but i've had a year to adjust to that and adjust it to my tastes a lot more, which obviously helps, plus the monstrous sound the EMG pickup has. I wasn't even after a Fender when i bought it either, was just given a good deal on a bass i knew played and sounded good. Although i prefer MM nowadays (After playing a few) i'm still keeping hold of my trusty Precision. Must admit i want a Squier VM Jazz in Natural though, played one in Dawsons and it was just luurvelllllyyy. Liam
11. Overdrive, without fail, every gig. I used to use Fuzz, Synth, Envelope and Wah as well (Funnily enough, all 4 of them were for a 30 second section of one song). I've used a BDI-21 as a separate tone for softer songs too, if that counts. Looking to build up a mini board with a Line 6 G50, TC Polytune Mini and a VT Bass Deluxe (For Preamp and OD) with a Mooer Pure Octave in the effects loop. Liam
12.
There may not have been many replies to this, but I'm glad of those who do protect their hearing. When I was growing up it would have been seen to being soft to use ear-plugs.
My band mates do occasionally make the odd joke, but my thoughts are why let my (already damaged) hearing get worse at my age, when i'll have to live with it for the rest of my life, so i just brush it off. Liam
13. I guess i should find my keys now, in case i win Liam
14. I never do any band stuff without some form of ear protection, even acoustic rehearsals, or go to gigs without it. I need some moulded plugs when I can afford it. Your hearing sounds past the point of shot to me. I think it's time to start seriously thinking about the damage there, and turn your headphones down a lot. Liam
15.
Welcome. Now I forget, is it the Northerners who call everyone a Numpty? Ask you Dad to sign up so we can have a muti-generational claim for these forums.
But only if his username is Mogz's_Dad. Welcome from another northerner, but i'm on the other side of the north! Liam
16. If you make sure the switch is at 2ohm then yes you can, although the 4ohm cab will be getting twice the power of the 8ohm cab which isn't an optimal situation. Liam
17. Done the liking bit but my Facebook app doesn't seem to like sharing today, though that bit will be done too. Liam
18. I need a fretless. It would fit perfectly in one of my bands songs (Slides included) but i can't afford one... yet. There's a lovely Sandberg on Thomann which i want in my collection. Liam
19. Singlecuts, Ibanez Ergodyne, Wal/Ritter/Anything else that's swirly and costs waaaayyyy to much, Liam
20. I used a Lexicon Alpha USB interface for the audio, and recorded the video for it on my phone. I'm going to be using my DSLR for video now though as it does 1080p HD which is always better. Liam
21. My latest tactic is to wrap my whole lower arm, from my hands up to my elbow in a bandage. Works very well at stopping any sort of friction burns, or any friction whatsoever for that matter, as well as an oppertunity for creative excuses as to why your arm is bandaged, AND it can work as a pick holder too!. Liam
22. James is a surprisingly good singer. He threw out Don't Stop Me Now on an episode of A League Of Their Own a few months ago with the cast of We Will Rock You. I wish Peter Kay would sing properly as well, even just once. It's quite obvious he's hiding a pretty good voice under all those gimicks. Liam
23. Have all you pople having issues on the Kindle (I'm assuming Kindle Fire here, so if not, ignore this) tried it on a different web browser, such as Firefox for Android? Liam
24. I proudly sport my BC Lanyard at work every day, as well as the neon orange card holder to make sure i'm noticed. I'm feeling festive too so i think a Christmas donation will be in order over the next week. Liam
25. Only my 1985 MIJ Fender P come in for me this year. Nothing out either. Liam
