My main band did our last (For atleast 12 months) on saturday. Now comes the bigger issue of finding another band. I have noticed that in 2012 we've only done a few gigs though, compared to the 15 or 20 we'd done by this time last year. Liam

Once you get it a bit higher than just a little breakup it sounds pretty sh*t in my opinion, more like distorting a solid state pre-amp than a nice drive, but that's just me. Different people might like it (Or spend the time to find a good drive sound) but personally, i don't. As a clean pre though, i absolutely love it. When i was using my board i had it set up for a much warmer, more rounded tone when we were doing more acousticy stuff. Liam

I would happily gig that bass. Love the artwork. Liam

I can sing in time whilst playing bass. Singing in tune is a different matter altogether though, even when i'm not playing bass. Thankfully my band know my vocals are horrific so don't ask me to sing, just occasionally shout sh*t down a mic. As others have said, practice is the key to this, know both your basslines and vocal lines till you can do both without thinking about them, and you'll be fine. Liam
Just to throw into this thread disscussion, I think that if all band members of a group have the same musical tastes, that helps a lot. Does anybody disagree with that?
I definately agree with that, but at the same time, i kind of disagree. My band and our musical tastes when we started Vocalist: Softer rock and a lot of metal. Guitarist: Plain rock stuff, with a tiny little bit of metal thrown in there Drummer: Indie Me: Anything from country to pop to the heavier end of metal. When we started, we started out as a metal band, playing stuff like Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium, but somehow, due to the clashing/merging of all our musical tastes over the first year or so, we turned out to be a pop punk band and it fits how we all play perfectly. None of us know how it happened, why it happened or anything, we just know it did, and it was the best decision we ever made. So in short, having the same musical taste does have it's advantages, as it gives a good baseline for choosing the genre you want to do, but having totally different tastes can create something none of you ever expected which works better than anyone would've ever thought. The drive is a pile of sh*te if you ask me, but the Behringer BDI-21 is quite a nice preamp, especially for recording purposes. Takes a little while to get it set up sometimes, but it works damn well. Liam

I use Dunlops, as to me they just feel a bit more solid than Schaller ones for some reason. I'm debating about whether to start using the recessed ones as it's a bit of a cleaner look and keeps the strap a little closer to the bass. Never had a problem with either Schaller or Dunlop one's though, even on my 10lb-ish Squier. Liam
Not really sure what to do about wireless for IEM... Kinda hoping Line6 will unveil a digital wireless IEM system at NAMM 2013!
You and me both, it's the only thing missing out of Line 6's current product lineup. I was planning on getting a set of Alien Ears when i could afford it, though i think i'll go have a look at 1964ears as well. Liam Liam
But Beadie Eye, for instance, had 2 Marshall Plexis, 2 Marshall bass heads and 8x10s and 2 vox AC30s; Bellamy had his own amp and The Who had their own backline - seems odd that CW would be the only one to be handed something that wasn't his choice - so perhaps he's made the shift to Ampeg live?
It's a possiblity, but there's no way i can see that Chris could condense all of his rig into one signal, and the Ampeg wasn't even plugged in. I did notice as well that there seemed to be a lot less stage space for Muse compared to Beady Eye and The Who. I think it would be a substantial farce to set up Chris' rig in 5 minutes anyway, you'd probably need about 10 people. The amp Bellamy had on stage isn't really part of his main rig, it's something that he uses to create feedback when he feels like it. The monitor engineer just sends a guitar signal to it when Matt goes near it. Liam -
Wasn't there a picture of him in the studio recently playing a Status that also had an SVT next to him?
In studio, yes, he has used SVT's, along with Markbass and a few others, but live he only ever uses his 3 Marshall DBS rigs. I've never seen him gig with anything else. Liam -

Was one of his Statii, i think all of his Status basses have LED's don't they. On another CW related note, as i mentioned in another thread earlier, the fact that they dumped an SVT and 810 behind him made me laugh, especially as i don't think it was even plugged in. Liam -
Looks a bit like the EQ in my Squier Jazz Deluxe (From memory, it hasn't even been out of the case in 6 months) minus the slap switch. Liam

Coming from a man who isn't that much of a fan of hollowbody or fretless basses, that is absolutely stunning. I'd love something like that myself. Liam
-
Why fans? Why not proper passive cooling?
LiamPodmore replied to fretmeister's topic in Amps and Cabs
Depending on the fan size, seeing as most of them use PC fans anyway, would it not be easier for companies to use silent/low noise fans in the first place? Liam -
My bands last gig last night, at the White Horse in Westhoughton. I must say, we couldn't have ended it any better. Jess, our support act did a perfect job or getting everybody warmed up and ready for us to go a bit mental, which we sure did. Safe to say, i'm gonna miss it, but we couldn't have asked for a better ending than we got last night. Liam

"Tell your boyfriend, if he says he's got beef, that i'm a vegetarian and i ant f*cking scared of him" 3OH!3 - Don't Trust Me. I hate the song, and the band, except for that one little bit, just always cracks me up. Liam

Check out this. It's quite long, but i've found it VERY useful in the past. Goes through everything you need, and more. Liam

'Everybody under 18 get out' by the Greater Manchester Police Force works really effectively at emptying the whole pub, let alone the dance floor.... Liam

We do most things in the original key, just because our vocalists voice is strong enough to be able to. There's a few things we have moved, but those are mostly due to not needing to change guitars and that sort of thing, just one or two vocally (As they were done by females originally). Liam

Now that is a damn good sounding track, and that bass tone is lovely. Liam

What is your favourite brand of strings? (Survey)
LiamPodmore replied to davidmpires's topic in General Discussion
Ernie Ball, been using them on everything for a few years now. Mostly Slinkies, but i need a set of flats too. Liam -
Seriously contemplating getting rid of my board, and just creating a mini one with a Line 6 G50, Boss TU-2/3 and a Tech 21 VT Deluxe. I don't really need much more than that, and if i do, i can create a second little board with what i need (Most likely an envelope filter, octaver and delay). Yey or ney? Liam

Check out Shep's stuff with Our Helical Mind. It's damn good if you're into that kind of thing, and i've been listening to it alot lately, some really good work on those tracks. Liam

I wouldn't be too happy without my choice of basses. Okay, i would take the engineer/producers views on board as to whether certain bass would fit a certain song better, but i wouldn't just use what they want because they're used to it. Thankfully the producer where we record is used to a Warwick and other things along those lines, so he's fine with anything. Not that any of that makes any difference currently because my main bass is a Fender Precision..... Liam
