1. Welcome Sam, another one here who thinks your PhD sounds rather interesting and enjoyable. Oh and +1 to the P Bass. Liam
2. If i went for a rack system i would probably have something like an Axe FX or an Eleven Rack into a power amp, but for now i like my individual pedals, it's much easier to tweak settings on the fly. I can see the apeal of multi-effects though, especially the higher quality ones. Liam
3. I figured out, with my main band, we've done 32 (As of this weekend), with others, there's an extra 8 or so. So uhhh... 40 Liam
4. In chronological order of me owning them: 1994/95 Squier Jazz 2007 Ibanez GSR200 2007 Squier Deluxe Jazz Bass V 2010 Squier Deluxe Jazz Bazz V (To replace the '07 model which broke) 1986 Fender Precision Bass (MIJ) I've also gigged with: Stagg something or other Tanglewood Rebel 4K Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass And i may be getting my hands on a '62-'64 Fender Fretless Jazz Bass (MIJ). Liam
5. Sounds a little hectic for my tastes, although i must say i love the kind of 8-bit sound (Albeit with instruments not beeps) that it has. Liam
6. My opinion: If it sounds good, it sounds good. If i can pick it up with one hand and bash some idiot around the head with it, without breaking then that's even better. One of my favourite tone's i've ever used was my Squier Jazz, into my Warwick ProFet head and an SVT-810e, absolutely marvelous. Liam
7.
Because you're a logical, self-sufficient person. If the Yammies were any better, Ibanez wouldn't have made the Blazer of course. That would not be logical. Get the Blazer! blaze, bert
But then if the Blazer was better, Yamaha would've stopped making their basses! Either way, buy the Blazer, you can always sell it on if it's not for you. Liam
8. My thoughts are that you can add effects on to a signal, but you can't take them off, so i don't mind recording DI, as everything i live can be done with plugins. That being said, if someone wanted to stick an Orange Bass Terror on an Ampeg SVT-810e and mic it up i wouldn't be complaining one bit. Liam
9. Mine's been a staple part of my board ever since i bought it. Currently it's sitting in one of my bypass loops as i use it for a more bass-heavy and much more rounded tone which i use for softer songs. I've used it as a pre-amp for in the past as well, for recording some covers and for acoustic guitar actually. Though i must admit, it can be really annoying too. For some unknown reason mine will only work if it's on battery or if it's powered via my Boss tuners output, not from my power supply or it's own individual supply either. Liam
10. I was PM'd by Rich a few weeks ago (Sorry it's took so long to post on here) when enquring for a dual loop as he could build me one for a cracking price. Turned up 4 days before i was expecting it and was a very fine job. Someone i'll happily deal with again. Liam
11. I always route the cable from my pedalboard to my amp around the edge of the stage area, and if i'm using a wireless (Perched on top of the amp) i route the cable from that around that way too. I used to wear some quite thin soled shoes so i absolutely hated standing on cables. I need to get my own wireless, and soon. Liam
12. Only bass and the occasional shouty vocal with my band, though it seems i may be assisting with audio streams and doing some live camera work at some gigs too. Liam
13. My band used to play in E Standard, Drop D, D Standard and Drop C. Our guitarist just used all of those tunings, our singer was permanently in D standard or Drop C and used a capo to take it up to E and Drop D, and i just went out and got a 5 string. I was sick of the hassle of re-tuning all the time. Liam
14. That would look twice as lovely with a maple board IMO, but that is one gorgeous finish. Liam
15. I reckon a tour of Barefaced should be in the works. This was pretty interesting, a lot of the machinery looks indestructible. Liam
16. Fender doing a signature bass for a guy who actually uses Lakland basses, how typical. I do love Nate and the Foo Fighters though, and that Ashdown pedal looks intriguing. Liam
17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DboMAghWcA Takes me back to when i saw them last year. 3 and a half thousand people all singing that song creates an atmosphere that you can't describe. That and VAST amounts of Walk Off The Earth/Sarah and Gianni. Liam
18. Bass - Pedalboard (If i can be bothered) - Lexicon Alpha - Some random and much too long (7.5m) earphone extension to my Sony MDR-EX10's, or i use my Stagg headphones i 'borrowed' off my dad when i can't be bothered with so much cable. Liam
19. I'll have a look later, as i'm at work currently so i can't. One of my videos is blocked in other countries too, not sure which as i haven't checked but it's to do with all the copyright laws and cr*p like that. Liam

FX advice

The only thing about the T-Rex stuff is, apart from the Junior, that it isn't isolated outputs. Only the sections are isolated, not each individual output, which can cause problems with some pedals, although you'll probably be fine, just something to take into consideration. Liam
21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuunY8BTqNs A fine (IMO) display of a Source Audio Bass Envelope Filter with Hot Hand. Once i get a dub loop set up on my pedalboard that's what i'll be using. Liam
22. Normally someone we know who's seen us a few times before, or me, as i'm the guy with the 30ft cable or when my mate lets me borrow it, a wireless rig. Liam
23. Is this the WMS 40 Pro or the WMS 40 Mini version? If it's the Pro i'll likely have it off you. Liam
24.
Thanks dude. Closest we've got sonar is Bolton, though I'm hoping to hook up a gig with TheBrokenDoor again soon and Manchester is my target (maybe with From The Kites Of San Quentin...)? I'll keep you posted!
Whereabouts are you playing in Bolton? I might head down if i can. Liam
25. I'm not overly concerned with my image, although i do sometimes go a little crazy to stand out, like the plan i have of wearing a tiger suit at my next gig. I'm quite active when i'm playing aswell, which kind of takes over the fact that our frontman can't do that kind of stuff as he's stuck behind a mic. As for watching gigs, i tend not to take that much notice of how people are dressed, in a gig situation body language says a lot more than what an outfit can (Within reason of course) so i like to watch how the band are acting onstage, and how they act with the crowd. Although i will notice if someone's made an effort to look different (usually quite stupid) like when our drummer made it his main concern to dress as indie as he possibly could for a gig. Liam
