1. The one in the OP i don't mind as much, but as others have said, most singlecuts, the upper horn/non cut bit is HUUUUUGGGGEEEE and it just looks disgusting to me. The only singlecuts i really like are Les Pauls, but LP basses just look wierd as the body is always too small. Liam
2.
seeing as im 100% a metalhead id definatly say for me the phamtom of the opera soundtrack absolutely love it
I can wholly understand that one, a lot of metal fans are into the whole symphonic side of things as well, as it somehow fits so well with metal. My only guilty pleasure is a very vague one of cheesy pop songs, most people who like 'real' music absolutely hate them, but some are just satisfying to play. Liam
3.
Yes it does do this but the sounds are horrible and I found it very uninspiring when I used to use Guitar Pro before I learnt TABs are sin haha. Unfortunately to take the instruments out you would need the original tracks from the recordings. Rerecording it for commercial use would be illegal.
The RSE sounds aren't too bad once you find the right ones, especially on GP6. I found one on GP5 that sounded exactly like a Green Day tone, but i don't know what that says about either Green Day or Guitar Pro.... Liam
4.
Having a website with the ability to loop certain sections would be handy, also to slow it down as well. A website or program like Tab Pro(?) providing the ability to add over the top the other instruments and sounds on the proper full song 1 at a time Like add in the drums to keep time Then add in the guitar(s) Then add in the singer(s) You can then play along to the original, but providing the bass If you imagine a Rock Band / Guitar Hero style setup. Maybe Rocksmith will provide it? There may be a website that does this, but I havent found it yet if there is Not sure on copyright and all the legal side of it would be removing the bass line / drums / guitar to allow you to play your own over it. I suspect it may be like recording the radio. You shouldnt do it, but it is unenforcable. Start to put the radio recording on a website and suddenly you have Sony all over your ass with scary lawyers. Just waffling, typing out my thoughts and random thinkings, but yeah. Maybe i just learn in an odd way. But it seems that most learning material out there is to give you the end result and the ingredients (notes) and chuck you in the deep end.
It's still working with tab (And standard notation) so there's still room for errors, but Guitar Pro, Tab Pro, etc... allow you to do this to an extent. It plays through the tab for you, so you can cut out any instruments you want, or just make them a little lower or the bass higher, etc.. along with pitch-correct tempo changes, looping certain sections, speed-increasing looping and more. The MT9 Music Format will do everything you want, but it isn't really around anywhere unfortunately, life would be a lot better if it was though. Liam
5.
The technique used is of no interest to anyone but the player. All that counts is if it sounds and feels right in the context of the song and arrangement.
Unless you're on youtube, then you'll get 500 people going "USE UR FINGURS! U AINT REAL BASSIST COZ U USE PIC!!" After which they get given a nice fresh slice of my favourite pie, known as "f*ck off and grow up". Liam PS: LowEndBee, that 50 Shades Of Grey post has made my day, just completely out of nowhere.
6. Why oh why oh why don't i have a spare £2k lying around?!?! That is a thing of beauty, best of luck with the sale. Liam

n00b.

Welcome Chris, There's nothing wrong with cheap stuff, especially on here, after all, if it plays good and sounds good, who gives a cr*p what it costs. Glad to hear you're already out gigging, it's a big step in what will hopefully be a long and exciting journey into the land of the lows. (Maaaaannn that was one cheesy sentence). Liam
8.
Same here. I find i get a better grove at home with fingers , but cant get enough speed up at gigs so tend to use the pick 99% of the time. Its something i really should work on. I tend to need my fingers to hold my pick so i guess its both ;-)
That's very true, in that case you could say that your thumb is used too. I can play my bands stuff fingerstyle, it just sounds better with a pick and it means i don't get my sweaty hands all over my strings as much. Liam
9. Be profficient and confident with both, and use what the song calls for. Some songs sound better with fingers, some with a pick. I'm mostly a pick player with the band, but mostly fingerstyle at home. Being good at both allows me to choose what the song needs, and also means if i drop my pick i'm not stuck in the sh*t trying to find another, i can just carry on. Liam
10. I started using (and have turned a few friends on to) Dmanlamius' lessons, he gives pretty thorough explanations of everything he's doing, and his site learnbass.net is really useful as well. This is one of the first lessons he ever did, and is the start of his long, long string of lessons. 11. Original Junkie isn't my video btw peeps, just a suggestion of mine, absolutely love that band though. More cheapies: This is my bands first video, cheaper than the cheapest of cheap things: Shot by one of our mates, with a camera borrowed from college and our guitarists camera, edited by our vocalist and everything in terms of props and stuff was our own. Add in a female for good luck and jobs a good'n. I'll throw this one out there as well. Not as cheap as others likely are, but it wasn't exactly a high budget jobbie. Liam
12. The general concensus of this forum: OBBM/Bassic Bits now Rockwire. Liam
13. It's a competition between 3: One of my bands originals, called Lying Through My Teeth 'cause it's got a really fun chorus riff for me. Another original, called Never Get His Turn (But only when i've got the Line 6 with FBV, I'm allowed to make use of Fuzz, Enevelopes and Wahs to make some dirty dubstep sounds then) Carly Rae Jepson's Call Me Maybe, such a good song to play, just so fun. Liam
14. Thanks Steve, i knew about this already, i was mainly wondering if it had the same auto channel switching features as it's bigger cousin the G90. I'm thinking the best (And easiest) method is going to be just to turn on and off transmitters when changing basses. Thanks for all the answers guys, i've got what i wanted to know. Liam
15.
I can't keep my receiver in my pocket either, prefer to keep it on the strap. How about setting each receiver to it's own individual channel and when you switch basses, switch channels accordingly on the transmitter? Hope you can work it out! Cheers
It just doesn't feel right, and it's possible but still a lot of effort. I just need a wireless board with 3 G50's and an A/B/C switch on, that would make life so much easier, but so much more expensive too. All this would've been much simpler if Line 6 had an email address you could send queries too... Liam
16.
Cheers Liam, shall have a look when I get a spare hour! Any idea who does their vids, out of interest?
Original Junkie was shot by a guy called Owen Henley (I think) and then edited/produced by Edd Langmead, who's the bands drummer, and all their other stuff has been done by them. All audio was done at Alien Sound Studios in Ormskirk, which is a brill little studio and stupidly cheap too. Liam
17.
I'm quite impressed with that, partly for the simple-but-cool solo (like the harmonisation on part of it; can he do it live? ) and partly for the cheap-but-cool video, which is the kinda thing I'm looking at doing with my band...I feel a thread coming on...
He most certainly can. Theirs a vid on their channel of their McFly support slot where they play that as the last song, and as for cheap videos, their channel is full of them (Chocolate being my personal favourite) and there's one on my bands channel in my sig that may have some inspirational qualities for you. Liam
18.
I use the G30 and use multiple transmitters. As long as only the bass you're using has its transmitter switched on there is no problem as its one transmitter to one receiver. If you forget to switch the transmitter off when you change basses then you'll get nothing which is a bit confusing for a few seconds. The same with all wireless systems on the same frequency IME.
Ahh, i was hoping to leave them on, as it's a farce turning recievers on and off at the speed i change basses, but if i can't, i can't.
Might be a daft question but why not have the transmitter attached to your belt/in your pocket/whatever using your choice from any of the things discussed below. Then all you need to do is unplug the bass and plug in the new one. http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1732789,
I would find that pretty limiting, i'm a fan of throwing my basses around quite a bit as i'm rather energetic on stage, and obviously only having a few feet of movement will hinder that somewhat. Thanks for the replies guys. Liam
19. Evening all, I've been looking into the Line 6 Relay G50, and can't find any info on using multiple transmitters with a single reciever. This would be important for me as i'm getting into using multiple basses on stage and obviously changing straps everytime i change basses is a bit of an unnecessary ballache. Anyone know if the G50 can be used with multiple (Probably 3) transmitters, i know the G90 can, but there's no info on the G50. As another extra little detail, if the G50 can't, does anyone know whether the Stageclix pack system can do this? Thanks in Advance, Liam
20. 5 years and i actually find it more fun now than i did when i started. Playing slightly cheesy Pop/Punk mixed with VERY cheesy pop covers on stage is honestly the most fun thing i have ever done, especially when you have over a hundred people joining in with you. Even just sitting at home playing them is damn fun, i start dancing when i'm recording covers sometimes. Liam
21. I've done 2 ampless gigs, one was horrendous because the monitoring was sh*t and my ears were beyond f*cked. The other, was absolutely brilliant. The monitoring situation was near-perfect (Just a little distortion but nothing major), could hear everything i needed to pretty clearly, and not having an amp or cab on stage gave me a little more space to run around, which is always good. Liam
22. My lovely '86 MIJ Precision. Cost me £380. Liam
23. I must say, after using one a lot myself, the Boss Metalzone makes a great bass fuzz if you set it up right, and £30 is a damn good price. If i had the cash i'd take it but unfotunately i'm completely skint right now. Liam
24. We've got the Thumpinator, now we just need the Fumpsinator, a new pedal designed to make you learn theory, instantly use it and then make diagrams to make everyone else's life easier too! On a more serious note, glad you're posting it all up here, it's motivating me to learn it all too. Liam
