1.
Hi Liam, We don't use tolex, we use a textured acrylic coating so doing colours other than black is rather complicated and expensive - and it would void the one month return period. What/why were you thinking though? Best regards, Alex
That's an email i recieved from Alex when enquiring about a custom coloured BF cab. Liam
2. Im using a Harley Benton PowerPlant Junior from Thomman. It's a little bulky but it has 5 120mA isolated outputs and works fine for everything i'm using it with. Really cheap too. The larger ones don't have the iso outs, only the Junior model does. Liam
3.
Here's a poster that my old band did when i was in school. For the last day of exams. Went down a treat.
That is pure genius. I'll try to find some of ours when i get home. Liam
4.
budge over the tuner, stick the octaver next to it. subs your uncle. but you'll probably want some right-angled jack cables too.
Subs your uncle, i like that. I need to re-cable the whole board, but i don't have the cash at the moment. I have a pretty accurate (size wise) plan of the board which i can use to see if things fit or not so i'll have a tinker with that to see how i can fit an OC-3 or OctaBass in there. Liam
5. Almost complete. Dual channel looper built by BC's Protium (Jackhammer in Loop1 and BDI-21 in Loop2). The space at the end where the cable is will soon be filled with a Dunlop Bass Wah and an I/O box to make my cable routing a little neater. The whole thing also needs re-cabling, but i'm skint at the moment and can't afford some quality cables. I also want to add an Octaver but finding the space for one might not be so easy. Liam
6.
Its not something I'd want to admit to
Haha, they were both good bands, one of them does some damn big gigs, and are probably one of, if not my favourite band at the moment. Liam
7. Aziz from The Stone Roses stared at me once, whilst he was playing with Our Fold. We're also the (self appointed) official McFly Support Act Support Act, having supported 2 bands who have supported McFly at one point or another. Does that count for anything? Liam
8. Ooooh, win free Orange Gear, i like the sound of that. Thanks Dave. Liam
9.
This ...
Actually looks like an ESP/LTD to me, though the headstock and bridge are incorrect. Liam
10.
Blackpool sunnier than Bolton? I'm not having that...
Even if there is sun in Blackpool, you just get battered by wind and sand anyway. Liam
11. I reckon the EMG systems should work, after all, the pre doesn't see it as only for EMG systems, just as power. I think i remember that Eden amps have something similiar, a kind of a phantom power for bass, in a way. Liam
12. Pub gigs tends to be on the drummers left (snare side) but all of the gigs on actual stages, except one, i always seem to be on the other side. I'm fine with either, as we all know the stuff well enough. Liam
13. Good evening from a fellow Boltonian (i know what you mean about the sun, though it has been rather warm today) Liam
14. Solo is at 3:12ish, love these guys. OR Absolutely love these guys too, so proud to say that i was part of the crowd doing BV's on that album (In studio only, not the video). Solo is at 3:30, some solid bass playing from Rory as well. Liam
15. Warwick do a 3/5/7 guitar wooden one, with straps that hold the neck in, but i can't seem to find the things anywhere. I've heard the Stagg 6 and 8 Guitar racks are alright as well. Liam
16. Very Queen inspired, and the lyrics are incredibly cheesy for what it is. I also think the drums don't sound right, and that Dom mad a bad choice in terms of cymbals, because something about them or the way they've been messed with during the production stages just doesn't fit with the overall sound of the song IMO. I like the fact that the lyrics are pretty cheesy, but it's been masked somewhat by the sheer musical epicness that Matt Bellamy seems to be able to create. Liam
17. Look for a used Peavey Vypyr 15, that should fall into your budget. Liam
18.
I've got three 9v and a 12v set-up, but the Harley Denton box looks mahoosive, which is a shame as it's a darn sight cheaper than the Gig-Rig stuff. Still, I've not built my pedal board yet, so it's all a bit academic at the moment
It's about the size of a pedal, so it's not the smallest, though there's much bigger as well. If you check the Post Your Pedal Board thread, my board is in there in the last few pages so you can see how big it actually is. For £22+delivery (Which is a tenner, but if you throw in some extra bits like i did, it's not as bad), with 5 isolated 120mA outputs, you can complain too much. Mine's just shoved away in a corner on my board and not really taking up that much room. Liam
19. Manchester/Liverpool Show Promo companies: Designer Magazine - Dry Bar / Moho Live / Roadhouse Dusty Pop Entertainment - O2 Academy Manchester (Usually Academy 3 and Club Academy) JAR Music - The Cavern (Liverpool) / O2 Academy Liverpool, along with the Birmingham and Islington O2 Academy Venues. Liam
20. Ahh yes, didn't spot that one. I've not seen too many power supplies that have over 220mA outs, though i'm sure there's plenty, just not on the cheaper end of the spectrum. Liam
21. Daisy chains aren't a good idea because they aren't isolated and can easily add noise and humming to your signal. I went for the Harley Benton PowerPlant Junior, it need a power socket adapter (One that you get with an electroic razor, pound shop jobbie) but has 5 isolated 9v outputs with 120mA each, and is pretty solid. Liam
22. Just come up: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/180077-cheap-strat-anyone-l95-shipped/ Liam
23.
As an example, usually a 2×10 cabinet has less low frequency response compared to a 1×15 cabinet.
Bad start right there. He can't spell Aesthetical either. Liam Edit: I can't spell the word spell. Fail.
24.
It is a bit ambiguous, isn't it ? the whole thing does have implications for a few decisions. i.e. if I have a 300w 8ohm cab (say, a GS112), would that be enough to handle a 500w RMS amp @ 8ohms ? acknowledging that there will be peaks and boosting the lower frequencies may put a GS112 under strain. However, in general, would that be a reasonable idea ?
Most people say to ignore power ratings when it comes to amps and cabs, and just use your ears. It's unlikely that you'll need to put out the full load of your amp into a cab, so it's not really an issue. When the cab starts distorting is when you need to back off the volume/bass frequencies a bit. Liam
25.
Bit of confusion here. The higher the resistance (impedance) of the cab in ohms the less you'll get out of your amp. I have a 500w ABM and if I hook it up to a 4 ohm cab (which is the minimum resistance it is designed for) I will get the full 500 watts of power from the amp. If I hook it up with an 8 ohm cab I will get less power - about 350 watts (and less volume).
Exactly. I find a really simple way of visualising the ohms/power relationship is think of the numbers as how far a valve is open on a pipe, and the watts as the water. The more open it is (The lower the number) the higher the flow of water (power) is. That's just my twisted mind though.
Just to confuse the issue further, isn't the Orange Terror capable of being switched between 4 and 8 ohms?
Yeah, i mentioned that in my post. It's 500w at ohms and between 520-530 at 4 ohms. Liam
