1. Marshall Jackhammer is an incredibly versatile OD/Dist pedal, and rather cheap too. It'l do all the sounds you mentioned and more, definately a good baseline to start with in terms of dirt, and maybe like me you'll love it and keep it. Mine was only £21 off ebay. Liam
2. I play with a pick for the most part (Except softer songs where i use fingers and also tapping when i feel lazy) as it just gives the sound i like. I find a pick gives that extra bit of bite and definition when using overdrive, which really works for my bands live sound. I could play the same gig with my fingers, it just wouldn't sound as good to me. Also: Real Bassists don't give a crap what they use. Liam
3. Tested one of these in Dawsons a few weeks ago, and i was mightily impressed. Using a Squier VM Jazz and the SP410 cab. I can now see why these things are so highly rated, and later this year i'll likely get one myself. Like others have said, OTB + Super12 would be one MONSTROUS rig. Liam
4. Wahey, i love free things Be showing this to my boss too, no doubt he'll find some use for it. Liam
5. Welcome, and personally i'm more interested in that Acrylic jobbie in the rack on the right. Liam
6. So far this year i've bought a precision, pedalboard, pedals, power supply, cables, strings, strap, picks, and i need a few more pedals, some more strings, a pickup, bridge and P bass wiring harness. Safe to say, i have a severe case of GAS, but thankfully, a lack of funding to support said GAS. Liam
7. EBMM Bongo (Just for the preamp) Sandberg Overwater Ibanez SR (The higher end ones, i've tried a few of the 5xx and 7xx which were amazing) Sadowsky Brubaker Lakland G&L Schecter Dean Eric Bass And a few more that i cannot be bothered searching my brain for at the moment. Liam
8.
... which leads me to the fraught subject of finding a new house. Not just one that ticks the usual location, price, and environment boxes, but also has a ground floor layout convenient for using its biggest room as a studio.
The upstairs of my house is perfect for that. The room i'm in is the biggest, and it shares a wall (insert window here) with my oldest brothers bedroom, which is the perfect size for a control room. Liam
9. "HOFNER ORIGINAL BASS STRINGS ROUNDWOUND" "HOFNER H1133B HOFNER ORIGINAL BASS STRINGS THESE ARE GERMAN MADE FOR HOFNER VIOLIN BASS AND CLUB BASS GUITARS FLAT WOUND" Continuity fail. And £75 is extortionate, there's a shop near me that sells deal for something like £45 but £75?!?!?!?!?! Liam
10. When your biggest concern whilst re-arranging your bedroom, is the storage location of cases, and where you're going to put your stand. So far i still haven't got it fully worked out. Liam
11. Kings of Leon - Radioactive Meatloaf - Testify (Live at Melbourne 2004) Liam
12.
Girlfriend not wife.. what do you call your unmarried other half in internetland? Ms Chaypup?
I stand corrected, either way, make sure she's good with it. Liam
13.
Do the gigs mate! You can go on holiday whenever you want, opportunities come but very rarely! Truckstop
+1 to this, as long as your wife is okay with it of course. Liam
14. Looks like a lovely kneck Liam
15. Maple, just prefer the look of it. If i can get a bass with a maple board, i'll get it with a maple board. Liam
16. That looks like a blast. I already have a holiday to pay for, so this year is unfortunately a no go for me, but if it's ran again next year then that's definately a possibility. Liam
17. Cliff Burton (Metallica) Paolo Gregoletto (Trivium) Paul Gray (Slipknot, Especially the MFKR Era) Fred Leclerq (Dragonforce, notably their latest album) Kasim Sulton (Ex. Neverland Express/Meatloaf) Brian Robinson (A Wilhelm Scream, just listen to The Horse) Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) Chris Wolstenholme (Muse, need i say anything?) Shavo Odadjian (System of a Down) Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse, no matter whether you like the music or not, the man is a monstrous bass player.) All in no particular order of course, just guys i think are brilliant bass players. Liam
18. Mike Dirnt - as other's have said, has some absolutely brilliant basslines Paul Gray - Just listen to the MFKR Album/EP, notably the songs Confessions and Killers Are Quiet. Pete Wentz isn't a bassist, as much as i love Fall Out Boy, i don't like him at all. He spends too much time licking his bass and too little playing it. Liam
19. Brilliant beginner bass, i also started on a GSR200 and your's is in a much much better condition than mine. Judging by the knobs it's a fairly new one, between 2008-2012? I'd pick it up myself if i had the money, they're brilliant mod platforms. Liam
20.
Where did you buy this from. You mentioned a shop, but I don't seem to be able to find anywhere that stocks it... Cheers Geoff
I'd hazard a guess at Thomann, i vaguely remember seeing Ashton stuff on there, though i may be mistaken. Liam
21. When i can afford a custom i'll likely use Robbie at RIM basses. I've bounced a few ideas off him in the past and he seems like a really nice guy, and some of the basses he makes look phenomenal. Liam
22. "Thanks, glad you liked it" is what i normally come out with. I seem to get it more frequently than my guitarist and vocalist do too, as i stand out (for various reasons) on stage. I'm also the guy who takes the time to talk to fans before/after gigs too. Liam
23.
You can almost my toe, from last nights rehersal
Is that a natural/maple Sandberg i see there? Liam
24. I'm not a drummer but i'll still join. I'm very much a fan of drums, i even have a kit planned out, i just can't afford it yet, nor have the space. One day.. one day.... Liam
25.
I'm confused, is this the ABM version or MAG?
I think it might be an EVO I or EVO II ABM series, mainly due to the central logo and ABM grill. Is shipping possible? Liam
