1. Ernie Ball Regular Slinky 5's Ernie Ball Regular or Power Slinky 4's Rotosound Swing Bass 66 Picato Flats and some random strings that i can't read the brand name of that die in about 2-3 weeks. Liam
2. Hi guys. I'm looking at getting a Rode NT1-A or similar in the next few months, for a bit of bedroom recording. Anyone know how well these take to bass cabs, acoustic guitars and female vocals (Maybe some male too, but not from me) or is there anything in a similar price range that would be much better for these? I would get a better mic (EV RE-20 most likely) if i could afford it, but an apprentice's wage doesn't allow this sort of thing. Thanks in advance, Liam
3. Blackstar HT-5 or one of the Orange Terror range would be my choice, through a nice 1x12 or if you're feeling adventurous (And loud) a 2x12 should be a very sweet sound. Liam
4. For lightweight poweramps my choice would be a Peavey IPR, probably a 3000. As for the bridging, would running amp-cab1-cab2 not just present the amp with a 4 ohm load (Providing the amp does bridged @ 4 ohms, which the Peaveys do). Edit: i didn't see the bit about 1 input. Might be worth talking to Alex to see if he could add a second one to your cabs? From what i've seen he seems like the kind of person who might be willing to do that, but you can never be sure. Liam
5.
You mean via a ouija board or psychic or something?
Ahh, i didn't notice that. so crazy how one letter can change a whole sentence. Liam
6. What would've been hilarious is if someone did get in contact with the deceased's relatives, and they just said something along the lines of "F*ck it, its of no use to us, its yours" Liam
7. Would one of the laptop style (Best way to describe it) Korgs not work, not the WiFi one, just the standard one? One of these: http://www.gak.co.uk/en/korg-lca-120/3731 Liam
8. From the gig - home in 5 minutes. Bass in bag, cables in bag, waved bye to the band and had about say, 500m? walk to my back door. Liam
9. Fender make some (Search on Thomann) and i know Warwick (Rockcase) used to make some, but i'm not sure if they do anymore. Liam
10. Coming back from a gig for me usually entails climbing into the back seat of my drummers dads car, lying on a bass drum and trying to stay awake, then get back to mine, unload my gear (Normally just a bass or two, a bag, and occasionally an amp head), get some food then off to bed. Simple as that. Liam
11. The general consesus on custom length jack leads seems to be George L's on here and TB as well, so maybe try those? I'm not sure if the jacks alone would work with standard cable though. Liam
12. I have no idea but don't drop one (Or one of its many copies) on your toes 'cause it hurts. I've made that mistake with a '58 and a Peavey PVi too, both times weren't too fun. Liam
13. This should be in the For Sale: Amps & Cabs forum. Liam
14. Another 2 of my favourites, both by Tim Minchin. The last chorus of Rock n Roll nerd, and iirc the last chorus of Canvas Bags, both times he just lets his voice loose and it fits perfectly with whats happening musically. Liam
15. I started learning it after playing for about 6 months. Its a good song to play, although can be tricky in parts (Or atleast it seemed it then). Liam
16. Just teach her Baby by Beiber, if she's a typical 13 year old she'll be in love with it, its p*ss easy (C, A, E, G for the whole song), and she can learn a simple groove in the process. Liam
17. Nobody in the area (that i know of) has as high quality gear as i do, knows the band as well as i do, can play my basslines, and actually knows my basslines (Not even i know my basslines). Theres one guy that plays bass and knows the rest of the band better than me, but thats it. Liam
18.
Adam? Isint it Simon, Ben and James? 57 is such an amazing song. So glad i've seen it in the smallest places!
Cr*p, so it is. Adam is Ben and James' little brother, who happens to be James' Drum Tech.. Liam
19. Its a long moment, but 3:20 on in Waking Up by OneRebublic is just amazing. The chorus of 57 by Biffy Clyro from the Only Revolutions: Live at Wembley CD/DVD made me go wow, Ben (Drums) vocals are just amazing. Liam Edit for name fail...
20. Either PRS or possibly ESP/LTD. I know they seem to be quite light, have great upper fret access, and have really good balance. Liam
21.
Class. Keep 'em [s]confused[/s] interested, that's the way to go.
Definately, thats what you get when you have 3/4 of your band who were forced to do Samba at school, and get bored... Liam
22.
'No gigs within 500 yards of schools, parks or playgrounds.' Says it all, really. Obviously been done for puppy-rumbling.
And, by the sounds of things, those puppies he's been rumbling are let out for longer by their mummies too. (Yes, i'm bored) Liam
23. We faded a song out.. in a way. We ended a chorus early, left the drummer playing a kick beat, gradually increasing in tempo, put down our guitars, picked up a Surdo, Timpani, Shaker and Snare, and went for a samba breakdown. Liam
24.
depends on if the neck is strong enough and the truss rod can be set accordingly. consult your tech.
This isn't exactly a big issue. Neck tension between EADG and BEAD doesn't usually change too much, when i strung up my Ibanez BEAD it only needed a minor intonation tweak and it was spot on. Liam
