I got a 5 because it gave me access to all the notes below E (My band played in E Standard, Drop D, D Standard and Drop C at the time) that i needed without excessive tuning, so yes, if you need the notes below E, i see a 5 as a good tool. It can be very useful in certain situations, and opens up much more possibilites of songs to play when you get bored. Liam

Some awesome songs in there, as there seems to be in practically every one of the lists that has been psoted so far. Liam

I love it, but my band doesn't play it, might be a good suggestion though. Liam
-
Watched this when it was on on saturday night, amazing performance from Jessie and the whole band, she seems like such a character sometimes, must be one awesome gig that. Liam
-
Lozz, that sounds like one hell of a setlist to me, if you've ever up around the Bolton/Manchester area give me a shot and i'll see if i can get out for a night. Liam

Hi guys (And gals) I know we've had one of these before, and not sure if this is in the right place but here goes. Due to all the threads about setlists lately, i thought why not have one to show off our bands setlists and stuff like that, not much else to say really. I'll start: Set 1: Blitzkrieg Bop - The Ramones The Anthem - Good Charlotte Lying Through My Teeth - A Little Bit Outlaw Are You Gonna Be My Girl? - Jet Radioactive - Kings of Leon Good Guys - A Little Bit Outlaw Scotty Doesn’t Know - Lustra Girl All The Bad Guys Want - Bowling For Soup 1999 - A Little Bit Outlaw Baby/Friday - Justin Beiber/Rebecca Black Acoustic Set: Breakfast at Tiffany's - Deep Blue Something Country Roads - John Denver Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life - Monty Python Set 2: Air Hostess - Busted Monster - The Automatic Pokémon Theme Tune Never Get His Turn - A Little Bit Outlaw (Samba version) Why Does God Hate Me? - A Little Bit Outlaw 1985 - Bowling For Soup Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus Hard to Get - A Little Bit Outlaw (Added fun/solos) Use Somebody - Kings of Leon (Feat. Trace Elliot 7215 300w amp - which speakers?
LiamPodmore replied to shaun l's topic in Amps and Cabs
You need to make sure the speakers you use match the cab, and for a 4 Ohm load i think 2 8 Ohm drivers in parallell is the usual. Someone more knowledgeable than me will proabably be along very soon 'cause i don't know how it all works, just know those are the general rulees Liam -
Most hateful song on your covers bands set list?
LiamPodmore replied to Dave Tipping's topic in General Discussion
Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag The Darkness - I Believe In a Thing Called Lover Only 'cause we've played them both so many times, Stacy's Mom by Fountains of Wayne is also coming very close to that stage. Liam -
That's the one of the coolest P's I've seen. A pity that she has those EMG's (I guess - I don't like their sound too much). If you want to replace it with something, try expensive but worthy 'Ligthnin' Rod' pickup by Seymour Duncan - they're active but deliver truly vintage sound. Don't know how they did this
Thanks Immo, i noticed you posted this on my NBD thread aswell, but i don't think i got back to you. When i have the cash i'll have a look into one of those and see what tasty vintage flavours come out of it. Strange thing, playing lots of modern music and wanting a vintage Precision sound. Liam

So you have to use a Thunderbird or you dont get the job
LiamPodmore replied to grimbeaver's topic in General Discussion
Congrats, if i was old enough to drive i would've considered applying for that one myself, as it's local to me and would be one f*cking awesome gig! Liam -
We used one around the Wigan area when i was starting a new band, called Urban Sound IIRC. The combo i was supplied with (For an extra fiver) was a Laney1x15 thing, it was loud enough, but only because the supplied PA was a bag of sh*te that couldn't cope with a band. The manager was sat in his office smoking Weed, and we probably could've snuck out without paying if we really wanted to. Safe to say i wont be going anywhere near that place again. Liam
-
I think any rig with 2 Barefaced Big Twins or Super 12's would just destroy anything in its path, and sound amazing at the same time. Liam
-
Personally i would go for a Peavey IPR. The ones with DSP still aren't available (As far as i know) but the standard power amps are. Cheap, light, and do exactly what they say on the tin. Liam
-
Immo i know what you mean, it's an insanely good price for what it is, the advantages of buying from family, and to be honest, if there wasn't a battery box route i would have already ordered a Wizard Thumper to replace the EMG. KiOgon it wont show when i'm playing, but its not recessed so i can feel it a bit when it brushes against my leg. Liam
-
Luke i've not had a chance to properly play around yet. I was hoping there wouldn't have been the battery compartment, and was going to swap it out for probably a Wizard Thumper and stick the EMG in my Ibanez. Liam
-
I know, i might only throw on the covers for the slower, mellower gigs though. They seem to get in the way a little bit if i want to jump around. Liam
-
Like i said earlier in the thread, here's my little treat: Its a lovely Candy Apple Red n Maple 1986 Fender Japan Precision, almost all original complete with original hardcase. Unfortunately, it's been modded to have an EMG Active Pickup and subsequently has a battery compartment routed in too, but for £380 i can't complain. Sorry about the crappy pics, my phone seems to have messed up when i took them, so i'll take some better ones soon. Front: Back (Notice the battery compartment): Headstock: Body: And one with the chrome covers for good measure: Only just noticed how crap these images actually are, i need some sun so i can get some better ones, but in Bolton thats a VERY big ask. Liam

+1 to the Peavey 6505/6505+ reccomendations. Those amps work well for anything that requires distortion. My band (Pretty damn poppy) recorded our first single with a Peavey 6505 and it sounds awesome. Liam

I should hopefully have a tasty precision flavoured treat to add this this thread at the weekend Liam

Music Production and Sound Engineering
LiamPodmore replied to originalfunkbrother's topic in General Discussion
Also a degree stands for nothing in the sound engineer world, it's all about experience so get out there and do it really.
Thats why i recommended SSR. My mate up here for his training keeps getting his mates bands in when he's doing studio modules and working with them as a bit of a practice, and is doing the same at the moment in their venue as he's on a live sound module. I would check out SSR. My mate is doing a course with them up here at their centre in Manchester and speaks rather highly of them. Their studios look phenomenal, brilliant places to learn in. http://www.s-s-r.com/ Liam -
In my band, its more or less just straight out pop/punk (Think Busted, Bowling For Soup, Sum 41, etc....), although it did once range from pop down to the heavier end of the spectrum (Trivium, Bullet For My Valentine, etc...) At home, depends on the mood i'm in, it could be anything from the poppiest of pop (Think Gaga, Jessie J) to the heaviest things i can think of at the moment. I'm alot more musically versatile (Is that the right word?) than i look. Liam

My Squier has no fretboard inlays, it does have the side dots but to be honest i could play without those too. I never really see my fretboard unless i'm intending to look at it it, so whether it has inlays or not makes no difference to me. Although, i would never get a maple neck without black dots or blocks, just for aesthetic purposes. Liam
