My band mostly do covers as close the the original as possible/we can be arsed to do, but there's quite a few we haven't, and we've put our own pop/punk twist on (I Believe I Can Fly, Livin La Vida Loca, Baby/Friday Medley, and most recently (See youtube in sig) Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne) which works a lot better for us than playing it like the original would have. A lot of people don't seem to like rotos, but i'm a big fan of them. They can be a bit rough on your fingers at first, but i've done most of my bass playing (until i got my 5) on my Ibanez strung with rotosounds. Liam

There's already a massive soundcloud thread somewhere, throw yours in there Damien (guessing thats your name) to keep the thread alive, a LOT of good stuff on there as well. Liam

I would personally get a crappy little 25/35w keyboard amp for silly money (My Gear4Music 25w bass amp cost me about 60 quid) and use that for it, just to minimise any risk to your bass gear and also because you can then leave it permanently set up too. Liam

I spilt beer on my singers amp once, i apologized to him and he hadn't even noticed it happened. Liam

When we did our first single we got the guy at the studio to master it for an extra £25, and he did a brilliant job. I'm not sure if he'd do the same for something he hasn't recorded, but its worth a try. On our single (On the youtube link below) the bass is a little low, but that is more my own fault for not being there when we first heard it. http://www.whitebearstudios.co.uk/ Definately worth checking out, for both recording and mastering, David is a brilliant guy, a rather good engineer/producer and had a really good input on the song itself. I must admit, i think the first Telecaster (The one with the pickguard) is GORGEOUS! I hope its actually flamed maple and not a veneer though, that would just ruin it. Liam

Bass is my main instrument, but i also dabble often in acoustic guitar and occasionally drums. I'm starting up a porject or two where i play acoustic, and i'm also considering buying and learning to play Violin, for something quite different. Liam
That's alright man! It's way too USA teen punkpop for my taste but it's good. Your bass has no tone that will cut through so I'd look at your eq closely. You need more low-mid mids I reckon. Good stuff.
My tone is actually quite mid heavy, just the producer didn't give me the exact tone i wanted, and seemed to have mixed the bass a little low. I wasn't there when we first listened through it either as i was working, so i couldn't bring it up. He has told me that he's remastering it when he gets chance though, so it might be better 2nd go round. Liam

1 & 2 for me. If i played music to show off my talents, i wouldn't be playing the sort of basslines that i do for 98% of our setlist, although a bit of beer money (Or even better, free bar) is a nice perk. Liam

I had some massive triangular ones once, i can't remember what they were called though. I actually fashioned my own out of an old storage box when i was about 14 (Very safely with bare hands and a belt sander....) which would've fit what you wanted by the sounds of things. Liam

Stagg multi guitar stands? Good or bad?
LiamPodmore replied to LiamPodmore's topic in Accessories and Misc
A question for the Warwick multi-stand owners: are they designed for solid-bodied instruments, or will they hold acoustic instruments? I'd like something to hold my home noodling arsenal which includes a classical and an acoustic g**t*r. Thanks!
They say they're designed to hold both, stagg, warwick and fender have all said this for their stands. Liam -
2 Ashdown ABM 2x10's, My uncles '82 Japanese Precision, Stingray 4/5, Line 6 Relay G90, Tech 21 VT Deluxe, Boss OC-2, Boss TU-2/3 and i don't know what else, maybe some Source Audio gear. Liam

A bloke walks into a music shop........
LiamPodmore replied to LeftyBiskit's topic in General Discussion
I could go to another music superstore I know of in Bolton,But them robbing a@#eholes are'nt getting a penny out of me no matter how desperate things get.
None of the music shops in Bolton stock flats at all, i've checked in all 3 (Well 2.5 in my eyes really). I ended up being given my Picato's on here. Liam -
I have a Lexicon Alpha from Amazon with Cubase, it was about fifty quid. But I only use a laptop so its easier this way.
Big +1 to this. I use an Alpha on my desktop PC. I do have latency issues but that is because my PC is antique, not due to the harware itself. I found the Cubase (LE5) that came bundled with it was expceptionally good, 48 channel max (IIRC) which isn't really too limiting unless you use an excessive amount, slightly lacking in VST's for what i want (Overdrive/distortion etc..) but there are so many available that it makes no difference. Overall a VERY usable package for the £57 i paid (GAK). Liam

I spend a lot of my day on here, as i get bored and this is the best thing. I can't play my bass at work, but i will admit i do much the same at home (Although half the time i do both at once). Many nights i will jsut grab my bass, my lexicon alpha and a pair of headphones and just browse the Ultimate Guitar top 100 Guitar Pro files and learn random things, i find that quite fun actually, and sometimes a little bit of a challenge. Stagg multi guitar stands? Good or bad?
LiamPodmore replied to LiamPodmore's topic in Accessories and Misc
While we're on this subject, could someone who's got one of these be incredibly kind and measure the depth of it for me when folded please? Would have a need for one and if it'll fit in the 10cm or so that's available down the back of my cab in its flightcase that'd be the icing on the cake...
From what i've seen i think it should easily fit in that kind of gap, but obviously i don't have one to measure yet. No specs online anywhere as per the depth of it? Liam -
Stagg multi guitar stands? Good or bad?
I`ve used the Warwick stands, as below, both the 3 and 7 version. Very good, and folds down in an instant. I recommend getting a 7, and the whole band putting all their gtrs in it. Saves a lot of on-stage room, rather than 5 or 6 individual stands. http://www.gak.co.uk...-p-rs20882/7364
Thanjs Lozz, i'll have a look at them when the GAK website decides to work for me. I quite like Warwick gear (Hence having a Warwick amp in a Warwick case) Liam -
Which 5-ers are wide at the nut (as well as the bridge)
LiamPodmore replied to thepurpleblob's topic in Bass Guitars
I don't feel much difference between my Squier Jazz Deluxe V and any of the 4 strings i've played. I know it is a little smaller, but it doesn't seem like much of a difference. I'd hazard a guess that you have already tried this route so that post may have been useless. Liam -
I joined yesterday but ceased to make an introduction..
LiamPodmore replied to Emily Jaguar's topic in Introductions
Welcome to the forums Emily (I'm guessing thats your name, as its in your username). We have uuuhhh......... Our Fold, The Wingates Brass Band ,and Marseille (Neil Buchanan of Art Attack fame's band) are based just a mere 5 miles down the road. Oh and not to forget A Little Bit Outlaw Edit: How in hell did i forget the legends. Who are these legends i hear you ask? Well none other than The Houghton Weavers of course! Liam -
Robbie Williams writes songs? Did he write that 'Angels' one? Because that is the shittest song I've heard for years and years.
As far as i know, Robbie writes most, if not all of his own songs (Many of which have been HUGE hits), and worked on a lot of Take That songs. Both me and my mum think "The Flood" is one of his, as it sure sounds like as she puts it "A Robbie Song" Liam

Genz Benz shuttle 9.0 into a Ae112 berg cab?
LiamPodmore replied to tonyclaret's topic in Amps and Cabs
As long as you use your ears and make sure the cab is not distorting on any notes, you should be fine. This can obviously be hard to hear if you use distortion, but i'm guessing with a rig that small that you don't. Liam -
Take That are seriously good. I saw some of the concert on the TV the other day. Very impressive and some really good songwriting, and a great show.
Gary Barlow and Robbie are both amazing songwriters, so when they get together like they did on a lot of Take That hits it just creates this musical bliss that even i can appreciate. Liam
