My band mostly do covers as close the the original as possible/we can be arsed to do, but there's quite a few we haven't, and we've put our own pop/punk twist on (I Believe I Can Fly, Livin La Vida Loca, Baby/Friday Medley, and most recently (See youtube in sig) Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne) which works a lot better for us than playing it like the original would have. A lot of people don't seem to like rotos, but i'm a big fan of them. They can be a bit rough on your fingers at first, but i've done most of my bass playing (until i got my 5) on my Ibanez strung with rotosounds. Liam

I would personally get a crappy little 25/35w keyboard amp for silly money (My Gear4Music 25w bass amp cost me about 60 quid) and use that for it, just to minimise any risk to your bass gear and also because you can then leave it permanently set up too. Liam

I spilt beer on my singers amp once, i apologized to him and he hadn't even noticed it happened. Liam

When we did our first single we got the guy at the studio to master it for an extra £25, and he did a brilliant job. I'm not sure if he'd do the same for something he hasn't recorded, but its worth a try. On our single (On the youtube link below) the bass is a little low, but that is more my own fault for not being there when we first heard it. I must admit, i think the first Telecaster (The one with the pickguard) is GORGEOUS! I hope its actually flamed maple and not a veneer though, that would just ruin it. Liam

Bass is my main instrument, but i also dabble often in acoustic guitar and occasionally drums. I'm starting up a porject or two where i play acoustic, and i'm also considering buying and learning to play Violin, for something quite different. Liam

I wasn't there when we first listened through it either as i was working, so i couldn't bring it up. He has told me that he's remastering it when he gets chance though, so it might be better 2nd go round. Liam

1 & 2 for me. If i played music to show off my talents, i wouldn't be playing the sort of basslines that i do for 98% of our setlist, although a bit of beer money (Or even better, free bar) is a nice perk. Liam

I had some massive triangular ones once, i can't remember what they were called though. I actually fashioned my own out of an old storage box when i was about 14 (Very safely with bare hands and a belt sander....) which would've fit what you wanted by the sounds of things. Liam

[/quote] Big +1 to this. I use an Alpha on my desktop PC. I do have latency issues but that is because my PC is antique, not due to the harware itself. I found the Cubase (LE5) that came bundled with it was expceptionally good, 48 channel max (IIRC) which isn't really too limiting unless you use an excessive amount, slightly lacking in VST's for what i want (Overdrive/distortion etc..) but there are so many available that it makes no difference. Overall a VERY usable package for the £57 i paid (GAK). Liam

I spend a lot of my day on here, as i get bored and this is the best thing. I can't play my bass at work, but i will admit i do much the same at home (Although half the time i do both at once). Many nights i will jsut grab my bass, my lexicon alpha and a pair of headphones and just browse the Ultimate Guitar top 100 Guitar Pro files and learn random things, i find that quite fun actually, and sometimes a little bit of a challenge. I don't feel much difference between my Squier Jazz Deluxe V and any of the 4 strings i've played. I know it is a little smaller, but it doesn't seem like much of a difference. I'd hazard a guess that you have already tried this route so that post may have been useless. Liam

Welcome to the forums Emily (I'm guessing thats your name, as its in your username). We have uuuhhh......... Our Fold, The Wingates Brass Band ,and Marseille (Neil Buchanan of Art Attack fame's band) are based just a mere 5 miles down the road. As long as you use your ears and make sure the cab is not distorting on any notes, you should be fine. This can obviously be hard to hear if you use distortion, but i'm guessing with a rig that small that you don't. Liam

The one in Bolton had a Taylor Acoustic in a few weeks ago for £200, i was gutted that i didn't get paid early enough. Liam
