in my opinion they are the best thing money can get (unless you have many K to spend on other stuff) they are cheaper and in the same quality range as some other much more expensive things. Go for it , won't be disappointed ;-)

not cheap lol ... ... priced the same way as a Celinder From new...

Hi , I got one. He has a very special thing going on... They are devastatingly well made. Probably some of the very best I have seen.... I do agree that there's a Celinder Vibe. The sound is quite "vintage" to my ears but in the end those words are soooooo subjective .. i hate to use them. Tom Stenback told me the Pickups are very close to 60's position. As far as I know there's a pre amp being designed and will be offered as option in future... Tom also came up with a tuning thing , which is a round of metal being screwed inside the cavity ...I would guess about a 100 gram. To "tune the bass" ... its hard to explain as i was skeptical when first hearing about it but without it my bass is basically dead..... the tuning weight makes it more "bouncy" and "alive" ... it does work !!!!! ... They are very sweet people and offer top quality service ... Tom is a very busy man and a bit "on and off" but his wife Johanna is very responsive on Facebook and always keeping things on top of it! All in all they are mega top jazz style instruments , not cheap but that's to be expected with somebody making 20 to 25 basses per year ... i wouldn't hesitate in a sec... As some of you know (or not lol) I'm now a dealer / distributor in Brussels Belgium , understand i DO NOT distribute or "work" with the Stenback Family ... I just think they are great basses supported by great people .. and overall we are only stronger as a group ! cheers

Dear all , I would like to inform you that I will be becoming a dealer for Adrian's basses. This is put for full transparency. I will deal in Belgium. You can find me on Facebook under Pierre Ganseman , The company will be called Bass Freaks SPRL (go and like it if you wish... Its still empty as this is the very very beginning) People who know me know very well that I don't bullshit whatsoever... I will be available for any chatting through Email on or Facebook. I am still on the fence about being active in this thread any longer as I have seen people being stoned for less on this Forum... but who knows maybe i'll be fine Peace to all.

Would have to agree ... while high end is nice (you don't wanna see my house lol) ... in real life a factory made P bass with half decent pickup will do the job more than fine. I have Squire JV P and no need to change anything in it ... sounds great as is and has more character than a lot of high end P you can find... in the end this high end thing is so much fun but most of it is bollox ...
In 32 years the 3 Fender jv,s that i've come across have all been magical instruments ,nice weights ,really well constructed and big sound . This looks a lovely example ,good luck with the sale ,though i think you'll regret selling it.
somebody else making sense... ah this thread is improving
great bass!!! why are you selling this.....? Easily one of the best JVs I've played, much better than most of them and a rare colour... a great touring option for a pre cbs tone and feel without the price tag. good luck man, maybe just sell it to me instead...?? Dave
finally somebody making sense ! ah !

This is a FENDER JV 1982 ! nothing similar with a MIJ or a CIJ! This being a candy red bass is a PB62-75 (i got the same in LPB) "superior" or "inferior" is pointless as completely subjective... Fender JV had a lot of options and instruments totally UNAVAILABLE to Squire / Export range But i've already said all this
-
Hi Mojoke (and Matt...) This is not a Squire whatsoever. I confirm this is a Fender JV which were indeed built for Domestic (understand Japanese) Market ONLY not made for export. They were actually done before the Squire line to the exact pre CBS blueprints (with Japanese standards not with the USA "meeeeeh close enough" one). Under Fender USA's pressure which needed an export line the Squire were then released ... As far as I remember the 1st squire's left Japan about May of 82 (I don't know exactly but some of the very very 1st exports had indeed the tiny squire Logo) The Fender JV range had a whole lot of different models and higher or lower model. Some of them with Nitro finish , with USA parts and pickups. For example the Fender JV PB57-95 is a 57 reissue but with CTS pots and Nitro Finish. The Fender JV JB62-115 had CTS pots and Nitro finish too ... or Fender JV OPB54-75 with Nitro and USA parts. I will attach a few pictures (Matt you tell me if its a prob) of for example the OPB54 ... it doesn't have a Squire Logo and I challenge anybody to find it on squire Catalogs or even to find one in europe for that matter. Still its a JV instrument.... FENDER JV Maybe I should add that both line were made from 82 to 84 , the Domestic line stopped a bit earlier.

Gigging and the costs - what would you do in this situation?
pierreganseman replied to Naetharu's topic in General Discussion
I know personally I would never ever play for free anymore. In those cases there's always somebody making money but you ... and the "exposure" means most time absolutely nothing, only somebody selling you a "dream" based on the fact he's got the advantage as lets face it he could have chosen 50 other band on that night but yours... Maybe i'm old and bitter ... -
Has the smalll 'Squier series' logo (usually further up on the headstock) been removed or wasn't this present on very early JVs?
Hi , this is not a Squire but a FENDER JV that has nothing to do with the Squire Range. They were done for Japan only .... while Squire JV were the export line... that's why there's no "squire" ... and not supposed to be one.

go to speak to adrian, his quality is second to none... and he'll build whatever you need for NO money. -
Morning guys, tittle says it all ... For people wondering , yes Chris Celinder is still building.... before putting your hopes too high he's not taking any order whatsoever as quote "i got so much work anyways". I was just lucky... Previous customer bailed out for personal reasons and I Just grabbed it... You can read severe bashing on Chris on internet, I can only say he's one of the nicest builder I have met. Very knowledgable and very obviously knows his thing inside out. No pic ? NO BASS..... yes yes i know so have a look ! He builds the best jazz basses you can find... if you're lucky enough to find one ... cheers
Thanks very much for the comparison, very interesting! Si
no worries , trying my best .... not being native speaker + explaining a really subjective thing... i guess i did alright lol
-
Very nice! Really interested to know how this directly compares to your Fodera?! Si
Hi Simon , its hard to say and only my opinion (although taking into account my bass slutting career, in general i am right). 1st of let me start with saying that both basses are really stupid good in their own way. The Sputnik has a more "traditional" tone. The Fodera has a more "high end" kind of a sound. The Pope pre amp with Dual coil , coupled with maple fingerboard and alder body. That bass is really close to Richard Bona ... only problem is the weight. The Sputnik in single coil does REALLY well the jazz bass thing. I'm ready to bet not many people would noticed its a single cut bla bla if you would record it. The Fodera in single coil sounds cool but still sounds like a Fodera. If you compare build quality I think the Fodera is still ahead (and dare I say Far ahead?.. sorry people...) if you compare them they are 100000% in the same range sound and playability wise (that's when Adrian's genius comes in...) but pure building wise even if the Sputnik is a GREAT bass it feels rough compared to my Imperial. On the other hand one is worth about 12 000 euros and the other one 3000. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for.... there's NO way around it. Its always very hard to compare things as one person's "amazing tone" will be my "****** DUDE this is ******" or vice versa but i hope this all makes sense...

http://public-peace....aple-burl150126 Hi Guys, can have a look for all details on this. Regarding this bass (and Adrian's bass in general) its probably the only Brand that left me speechless overall. I was playing them(i got an Absolution 4 + a Frog 5) thinking "wow that sounds good.... and really.... like REALLY ... only £1000 or so?????.... probably one of the best fret job i have seen in my long "bass slutting" (understatement lol) career. That bass is so nice and easy to play and in some way due to Rosewood board still gives a very classic sound. The balance is absolutely perfect and weight is just as it should be. I won't lie and I can say now my Fodera Imperial elite gets much less playing than those polish things... as amazing as it is 850 grams extra makes a whole lot of difference on shoulders and back. Regarding Adrian , very nice ****** free guy. He's not native speaker as mentioned above so his answers are very "yes" "no" "ok" "thanks" kind of style... but I find it nice when you compare to the huge amount of people choosing to drown you under crap. cheers
