1. Hi guys! After much deliberation, I decided to put my lovely Aguilar GS 210 up for sale. It's in great condition and comes with a Roqsolid cover. Reason for sale is that I don't ever take it out of home. I decided my GS 212 is enough for all my gigs, big and small. Whenever I took the two cabinets with me to a gig I was actually a bit embarrassed 'cause it's definitely overkill for pub gigs and functions. On the couple of occasions I used the GS 210 on it's own I was very impressed with it. Very punchy, tight lows, and pretty loud. All you expect from a top of the range 2x10. I didn't even bridge my power amp. Throw 300 watts at it and this baby will get you through a gig for up to 200 people with no PA support, no sweat. Also, these Aguilar cabinets have a tweeter that you can actually use. Very natural sounding and easy to find a sweet spot with the variable control. Aguilar really knows their stuff. Some photos I took just now: Here are the specs: Two 10" cast frame woofers, 56 oz. magnet Power handling: 350 watts Impedance: 8 ohms Phenolic tweeter with integral phase plug Custom crossover with variable tweeter control One Neutrik Speakon and two 1/4" inputs Frequency response: 42 Hz to 16 kHz Sensitivity: 102 dB @ 1W 1M Recessed deep-dish handles Interlocking corners Dimensions: 46 cm H x 57 cm W x 42 cm D 7-ply, void free Philippine mahogany Weight: 28 kgs I'm asking for £300 collected form SW9. Alternatively, I can deliver it for petrol money within 60 miles, or ship it anywhere in the UK, or EU at buyer's expense. If you want to give it a try, you're more than welcome. I think that's all. Cheers Eddie
2. I have a Geddy Lee Jazz Bass and it's so easy to play like you wouldn't believe. Extremely well put together and sounds great. Very hard to beat it at the price and even some of the pricier basses might struggle when compared. The only thing I don't like about it are the tuning machines. Soon to be replaced. You need to try one!
3.
As opposed to China?
I don't know, maybe. I think the cheap Marshall stuff is made in India. Obviously doesn't matter where it's made, but the quality of the parts and the quality control. Let's see how this is gonna work out.
4. http://www.notreble....en-electronics/ Looking forward to the first ever made in India Eden...
5. I hate when I order something and I'm forced to use DHL. The worst courier service in my opinion. I had all sorts of problems with them. Their tracking system is just for show. And they love to drop your stuff anywhere just to get rid of it. Customer service is the worst in history. Hopefully Thomann will sort it out for you. Good luck!
6. Have you seen these? http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~Ashdown-Little-Bastard-LB-550-Ltd-Edition~ID~16357.asp If you like the sound of your little Bastard this should do it for you. With a good cabinet of course.
7. I think if you have a proper 2x12 or 4x10 and can't hear yourself in your band unfortunately you need a more powerful amp. I don't know how good the Ashdown 1x12's are. If you like the sound of it, try adding another one. You'll get the same sound but louder.
8. I see you have an Ashdown Little Bastard head. I don't think it would go bellow 4 ohms, so you shouldn't plug both cabinets at the same time. Valve amps are usually very sensitive when it comes to ohms. What's the 2x12 you're planning to get? If it's a good quality one (high sensitivity) you won't need your 1x12. Just keep it for smaller gigs and use the 2x12 for larger venues. If you still think you should use both cabinets, better ask Ashdown. They reply real quick.
9. Just chilling at home, having some nice food and groovin' away with my new baby. It's a Warmoth '72 P Bass body with a Warmoth Tele neck, Wizard Trad pickups, Badass II bridge and Schaller tuners. Simple and effective, the way a P Bass should be. Happy Christmas indeed! 10. Second time I do business with Gavin. Always a pleasure. Great guy! Thanks Gavin!
11. Bought a VT Bass Deluxe from Chriss for a friend who's not (yet) on Basschat. He kept the pedal on hold for me for a couple of days and sent it quickly after payment. Thanks Chriss!
12. Sorry guys... It wasn't my intention to promote violence. Luckily nothing ever happened to me in London. Cases like this only remind us to be alert. Baseball bat still in the boot, just in case.
13. Howdy neighbour! I live in Stockwell and go shopping in Brixton all the time. I really like it and it doesn't seem any more dangerous than the places I lived in London before. What happens to you was (thankfully) just a warnin. We should always be aware of the scumbag thieves all the time. I carry a baseball bat in my boot, just in case they try to get cute when I'm unloading... Welcome to Basschat!

15.
It's probably better for reliability in the long-term to run 2 channels at 4 ohms rather than a single channel at 2 - look how the distortion spec differs for the PLX series at 2 ohms versus 4. As above, the parallel switching config makes this a doddle.
+1 to that.
16.
Great stuff - but isn't it typical how most of the band shots managed to exclude the bass player!
That's one of my favourite things about being a bass player. That and making other guys' girlfriends booties move up and down without them realising... Hehe.
17. I have a QSC PLX1602, which also can have each channel running at 2 ohms simultaneously. You don't necessarily have to use both channels, though. If your cabinet(s) have a total resistance of 2 ohms, you can power them through channel A, for example, and have channel B turned all the way down. Or, you can set the amp so it takes only one input signal and splits it between channel A and B. You still can run 2 ohms per side, but feeding the amp just one signal from a single preamp. With mine QSC I used the MXR M80 bass DI, Bass Pod Pro, TL Audio 5051, Focusrite Twin Track Pro and the Sansamp VT Bass. I liked all of them, but my favourite of the lot is the VT Bass, but it depends a lot on the sound you're looking for.
18. I honestly can't think of any better bass for this kind of money: http://www.musicjunkie.co.uk/product/Yamaha-BB414X-Electric-Bass-Vintage-White P/J configuration for a bit more versatility, certainly better built than a Mexican P... I tried one in a shop and it impressed me.
19. I can't imagine how this amp wouldn't be loud enough. Only if you plug it in some crap cabinets maybe... Don't be scared. This amp is loud enough for any gig.
20. And, by the way, this was a loud rock gig. With gain and master at 10 o'clock plenty of clean volume. Lot's of headroom available.
21. Ok. I finally gigged the DB 359 for the first time last night. A little delay to have the voltage conversion done. The amp also had a full health check-up and I'm happy to say it's all good! It was a trial by fire for the 359, since the venue I played last night is the one with the worst acoustics of all the ones where I usually play. It's specially difficult for the bass, but I'm used to play there so I had a good reference point. I used cabinets I have used there before as well (Aguilar GS 210 and GS 212), so the only variant was the amp. One thing I noticed before is that no matter how hard I tweaked with the eq I could never get a good bass sound during the first set, when the house is always half-empty. For the second set, with a full house, things always get better. Yesterday I notice a difference right from the start and, as the gig went on, it got better and better. Full, rich valve sound. Very responsive to the dynamics of your playing. The amp also responded really well whenever I used the Catalinbread SFT in front of it for a tiny bit of wool around the notes. I owned some really good valve heads before and I was very pleased with their performance, but from this first experience with the DB 359 in such challenging circumstances I can tell this is the beginning of a long relationship. I'll write a review when I have done a few more gigs with this rig. Cheers Eddie
22.
or go buy a couple of bottles of grolsch with the swing top lids.
I was going to say that, hehe!
