1. The Bridge...Stripped down and playing in a town centre pub...oh the shame! Saturday 2nd June 9pm
Free entry, decent beer and you in the audience commenting on the bass player's sloppy overplaying and lack of sobriety.
Oh well, come along anyway. We don't get to see many audiences not in white dress!

2. My experience was very positive....

Flying Finn Air to Helsinki and back, brought my bass to Heathrow in a proper flightcase. Asked to gate-check the bass and see whether the cabin crew would let me take it into the cabin. IT IS THE CABIN CREW'S DECISION!!!!!!!! Not a decision made by a check-in clerk.
On the outward journey, both the guitarist and I were told the flight was not busy and we might stand a chance. We therefore had our flight cases tagged and proceeded to the the gate. The cabin crew didn't bat an eyelid and let me stow it in the overhead locker above my seat. (FYI... Bass flight case fits easily into overhead locker of Airbus A320!)

On the way back we were told that the flight was full, and that it was highly unlikely... Check-in clerk told us we could try our luck, but that she could not guarantee success. We made sure we were near the front of the gate queue, where we were greeted with, "ah, you must be the guitarists, you will need to ask the cabin crew..."

At this point two things seemed to help...

1) The guitarist with a short case went first.
2) We both wore ridiculous pouting smiles.

We walked aboard and we asked to leave our cases in the galley area where you enter a plane, and went to find our places. On exiting the plane we found our flight cases had been easily stored in a large locker area.

The fact I had a decent flight case reassured me that even if they refused it access onto the plane, it was going to be safe. They would take it from me as I entered the plane and return it as I left the plane, just like a pushchair.

One man's experience of flying with his prize possession with Finn Air...I'll do it exactly the same way next time!

5. Welcome

Up for sale, or limited trade, is my 2006 Eden Metro Combo which is in in excellent condition. I bought this amp from Andertons as an ex-demo product, which had been accordingly serviced and checked over by Surrey Amps, (Eden specialist) before being dispatched. I have subsequently changed the pre-amp tube and serviced it a couple of times in the last four years that I have owned the amp.

The amp shows very little signs of use. The covering is clean, with the corner caps still looking good. I have always kept the amp in a Roq-Solid cover, (included in the sale) and it's condition reflects this. I only gig in 'nice' venues and then put my amp back under the stairs!

Have a read of Bass Guitar Magazine's review of the amp...

Impressive!

A two channel, valve/solid state amp which delivers more than enough grunt, (clean grunt at that!) for most gigging situation. Or do what I do and add another cab....It'll run down to 2 Ohms.

Transport arrangements.......
Pick up from Cheltenham
I'm happy to drive for an hour to meet up
You get the quote and organise a courier at your expense

Price is £525 ...or you could buy the same amp in the same condition from the The Gallery for £1099.

Very happy to answer any questions. 07837 595384

All the best.

7. Gents

I'm playing in Helsinki, Finland next Friday. The rest of the band are really happy with the gear provided, but I've been provided with an ABM 500 1x15 Combo and an RBX 170. I'm gonna take a set of strings to liven her up, but does anyone have any experience of whether she'll be good enough to play a gig with...It's mainly Pop/Soul/Rock...but there are half-a-dozen "thumbed" lines...is this a disaster waiting to happen!?
I really don't wanna take a bass with me!

Any input....
