I don't know exactly...Maybe the fretboard had dot inlays in the past?

I play modern music with lot of slap...and this rickenbacker is not the best for this music. The neck is straight the frets are in good condition

I'm not a rickenbacker expert and I received this bass 1 week ago. The prev owner said this bass was born as a 4000 modell and in the 80's it was modiefied to 4001 or 4003 electronic.
