1.
I don't know what it is about BB's that makes them so appealing. I used to think they were butt ugly but now I can't get enough of looking at them especially vintage models. I think it must be the unassuming but unmistakable looks and the simplicity of them.
I've got to admit, I still think they are but the tone they are producing is one of the best I've heard.
2. Blue burst or amber Lakland 55-94 with birdseye maple fingerboard.
3. I like rosewood but maple is growing on me.
4. Having owned two TRB's before, I can vouch for the Yamaha TRBX. BTB's and the Taurus ... Never heard a bad thing about them!
5.
Hi rubis what is it?
I believe it's an Aria? Not sure though. I remember seeing a similar one here for sale. Colour was blue and is a 4 string one.
6. Get rid of the Lakland! I'd take it from you! Only joking. Laklands are fantastic. I don't know about the other one. It looks as nice as the Lakland. I'm assuming it plays and sounds as nice.
7.
^^^ Those Bass Pod XT's are really brilliant once you get your head round them.
They are! I owned this for yeeeaaarrss. Never failed me at all and good tones I can get out of it wether I plug into a PA or amp.
8. Here's mine.
9. Just dropping a comment. Lovely chap to deal with! Such a gent! Thanks Tim! Will use it tomorrow.
10. Happy with my Lakland and Warwick. Not with my Fender MIM I find the pickups a bit "lacking". So planning to change it to something better soon.
11. Not a Lakland but I have a j-retro on my jazz bass. Dead easy installment. Mind you I have no knowledge at all when it comes to electronics but I've managed to do it myself within 30 minutes (not used to fiddling with the wires).
12. Good to see this thread. I've been wanting to order a Lakland 55-94 from them when I have the funds ready. Can't wait now.
13.
Low action and some sort of dampening device before the first fret.
http://www.gruvgear.com/fretwraps

15. Squier VM jazz is a good way to go. That's where I started playing 5 string.
16. Almost the same experience 2 years ago. Ordered a Squier VM jazz 5 with a wall hanger. Only received the Squier. I did let them know. 5 minutes later they phoned me saying the wall hanger will be with me by the next day. Which did turned up as they said. Top service. They are always my first "to go" store if I'm looking for something.
17. Excellent basses. I only got mine last month. I'd say I found my one stop bass.
18.
A camera would be great. It would be lovely to have some pictures. I'm sure bluejay would blog them or tweet them or whatever if you were OK with that.
Of course. That won't be a problem.
19. I'll try make it. But not definite. If ever I can, I won't be able to bring any gear as I don't drive and only probably going by train. Just me and my camera if ever.
