We play quietly on stage,so we can hear clearly.No-one is deafened by any amps,and the monitors do thier job!
This has made it easier for the sound guys to do thier job(that and the pint we always buy them!)

I used a 410TX for years.Fantastic sound,spine damagingly heavy!

Ash P-bass body,maple neck with reverse head stock,tappable humbucker just bridgewards of the usual P-bass pup spot,2 band eq.
And some talent.

Zoe,I had a listen to some of your other songs.Great tone,great feel!

You have just built my dream bass.

I recently stripped and refinished an old Samick P-bass.I used Ntromors and a sander to strip the finish,and dyed it black(I used Liberon Palette wood dye)and coated it with wax.It came out pretty good for a first attempt,and the black finish hides the fact that it is a 3-piece body.

If you use oil,burn the rags as soon as you have finished for the day!If they are left scrunched up they can spontaineously combust(this happened to a customer of mine,lucky he had public liability insurance.).

Zoe,I havn't listened because I don't need reminding that I can't play that line,despite trying for a whole year!'Tis the Devil's own groove!

Absolutely,Bubinga5.To date,I have never found a bass that fits the bill as well as my Groove.
But remember,this is only idle speculation.The Groove seems pretty tough(crosses fingers).

As a bit of idle speculation dressed up as bass research,I would like to pick your brains.
My main bass is a Status Groove.I love the feel,the sound(warm,middly growl),and the look of it,but as they are rarer than an honest MP,what would you suggest as a replacement should my beloved expire?
It would have to have all the main ingredients of the Groove,and not be a custom instrument.
Oh,please don't suggest a MM Stingray as I've tried them and dislike them!

I usually play songs that I will play on stage.After all,thats what the instrument is going to be purchased for.

I've found that a medium to high action stops me playing fast,and sounding sh*te as a result.Perhaps string height affects your playing style and your playing style affects your string height.
If the action of your choice works for you then you have nothing to worry about.
Anyway,low action is for jazz playing string tapping above the 12th fret stunt-bass maniacs!

Almost all of Duck Dunn's lines are simple.Yet bloody effective.
