1. To all the good sound people(Red at The Half Moon in Putney, the guys at Sound in Leicester Square, the guys at The Bull and Gate),many thanks,I hope you enjoyed the pint.
To the others, especially the rather chemically refreshed ones who turned up 60 minutes after the alloted soundcheck time, may your next s**t be a pineapple!

2. Basses;a copy of my Status Groove,a P-bass special,a headless Steinberger cricket bat type thing.
Amps;heads by Markbass,cabs by Zoot,but about 800w.
Other gear;a Guiness roadie,a driver a Bentley,and a curry chef on 24 hour callout.

3.
I actually think Zoe got her new mate Norman (as evidenced by recent pics of two together) to record that and she is now passing it off as her own... :)

... I'm impressed. I tried this and gave up, to be revisited in a few years when I have better technique.

Question (and with no intention of hijacking the thread) for the panel - I play with a pick and can get the right speed using a pick (even if the notes are kind of muddled). But no way can I play that fast using my fingers. Is it just practice that is required?
Same here with the pick.

4.
I wish I was the same Chris. I never had GAS when I was a guitarist - only ever used a Strat or a Tele if I was feeling saucy. I just don't seem to be able to settle on any one bass for more than a few months and then I need a change. My love of music and playing live is unaffected by my constant equipment changes.
+1 here.I have one "keeper",but the back-up plank is always subject to GAS!

5. As a bit of idle speculation dressed up as bass research,I would like to pick your brains.
My main bass is a Status Groove.I love the feel, the sound(warm, middly growl),and the look of it,but as they are rarer than an honest MP,what would you suggest as a replacement should my beloved expire?
It would have to have all the main ingredients of the Groove, and not be a custom instrument.
Oh,please don't suggest a MM Stingray as I've tried them and dislike them!

6. I've found that a medium to high action stops me playing fast, and sounding sh*te as a result.Perhaps string height affects your playing style and your playing style affects your string height.
If the action of your choice works for you then you have nothing to worry about.
Anyway, low action is for jazz playing string tapping above the 12th fret stunt-bass maniacs! :)

7. Almost all of Duck Dunn's lines are simple.Yet bloody effective.
Best quote ever about simple bass-lines is from Doc Pomeroy;"for a counrty song, think of the simplest line, then halve it.That's what you play!"
