  1. I've got two 32 scale basses - One is a 5 string in BEADG and the other in C standard. Both fine. Just needs the right strings.
  2. I miss Terry. Graham Norton has done a good job, but Wogan was perfect.
  3. What has being gay got to do with it?
  4. I love it. I love the fun, the kitch, and there's usually some banging arrangements and stage shows. I'll be cooking a massive spread of mexican food and watching all of it.
  5. Shipping and distribution adds in additional layers that must be paid for. Marshall amps are astonishingly expensive in the USA compared to the UK. American made strings are going to be way cheaper in the US. The Thomastiks are very expensive on that site - not a surprise as they've come from Vienna and gone over there. So no - it's not disgusting. It's just reality of worldwide shipping costs, insurance, local taxes etc. D'addario will still be making the same amount of money from a set sold there or here. But if you buy from a UK dealer then the UK dealer, the UK distributor, and the shipping overhead, import tax and VAT all have to be added to the price.
  6. If I can get 7 years out of them then they might end up on some other basses too!
  7. I could see that - but I often use D'addario Steel 35-95 anyway so my setup seems to be ok. I will take some allen keys on Saturday though, just in case I play a bit harder and get some rattles.
  8. If the headstock holes are too big then a common fix is to use plumbers tape to wrap the bushing before putting it in. It works very well. The tape is really really thin so it might need a lot of layers, but you can be very accurate to the size needed.
  9. In a bit of a rush I ordered some new strings. Saw the usual packet, ordered etc. Delivery wasn't what I expected though - instead of Ti Flats, I had ordered Ti Rounds. I knew Thomastik made rounds but I didn't know they made "Jazz Rounds" in the same series. My curiosity was stronger than my desire to send them back so I stuck them on my Sandberg. They are very flexible like the flats are. The wrap wire is a very small gauge so finger noise is very low for a round. They also don't feel like other brands of nickels I have tried - I usually don't like nickels at all and stick with steels for rounds. These feel different. I have no idea if it's just because of the smaller wrap wire or if it's a different alloy mix, but I like them. Thomastik claim they are supposed to be the same as the flats but with a bit more cut / top end. I think that's true at the treble end, but the low end is still closer to a round than a flat. Nevertheless they have a very nice balanced tone and are easy to play. As usual, there's only 1 gauge option so that will either suit or not, but I like them and they'll be staying on the bass - and not just because they are as expensive as the flats! Will be interesting to see how long they last compared to the flats. I have a rehearsal on Saturday so I'll see how it goes.
  10. What is the exact problem? Do you have bushings that are too big / too small for the headstock hole, but they fit with the post?
  11. That's lovely! I saw someone on IG playing a 5 string version. Very nice.
  12. Reminds me of a gig I did on the back of a flatbed farm trailer that hadn't been braced at all. 10 seconds into the sound check we took the amps off the top of the cabs and put them on the floor instead. It was a nightmare.
  13. Can you recommend something else that is still hardware at the same sort of money (£375 ish)? I don't mind editing on computer, but I don't want anything that would force me to take a computer to a gig if I ever ended up needing it for a gig.
  14. Mainly thinking of using it for writing funk synth bass lines. Probably not a lot of sound changing during a track.
  15. The gig itself is excellent. It's the rest that's a drag.
  16. I’ve always played both. I spent a few years fronting a couple of bands playing guitar and singing. When I was in the mood for a new band I’d always put an advert up for all instruments and If a guitarist answered first then I’d play bass or vice versa. I always write on guitar too, an old nylon string.
  17. As it says really. I’m loving the demos of it and quite fancy a go. Is it easy to use or would I get frustrated?
  18. Very good point on the upper fret access. I play a lot of stuff that uses the entire board.
  19. Using the Two10 in 4ohm mode and with the One10 in 8ohm gives you a load of 2.7ohm If you set the amp to 2ohm that will be fine to use them all together.
  20. Question for the Hive Mind. I'm thinking about either a Mustang PJ (mex) or a Sterling Ray shorty. I cannot decide between them. Which one would you go for and why?
  21. Prices are very brand dependent. Ti Flats are fat more expensive on there.
