  1. Used my shortie in anger for the first time with my jazz band at rehearsal this morning. Just took the bass, Ashdown RM800 and a BF One10. Mainly because I was too lazy to take my board and the big cab! I was really pleased with it. Deep and smooth sound. Very Duck Dunn. La Bella DTF of course. We did a couple of oldies, “Basin Street Blues” and “Song for San Miguel” with some great walking parts and the bass just came through perfectly. This bass has really narrow string spacing at the bridge so it’s a bit tight for me and there was a few dodgy notes! user error though… when I restrung the bass I forgot to redo the intonation so it was a bit horrible further up the neck! It’s way out! I’ll sort that tomorrow.
  2. Kalium Strings will make any length. As will Newtone.
  3. My Superlight TT5 is only 6lb 11oz. (Superlight 5s are 8lb / 3.6kg or under. Mine is very light indeed.) Zero neck dive. String spacing is adjustable. 18mm to 19.5mm
  4. I'll try not to hold that against them.
  5. Oi - I load and unload my microphone! WTAF more do you want?
  6. Yes they will. In fact I had enquired about a Stingray pickup in a TT4 shape and swapped a few emails with them about it, and then they announced the Central bass that has it (on a P shape). You can email Sandberg to ask if something is possible and if so then you get the price via your local dealer.
  7. Is that supposed to be the Two Notes Re-Volt? Or something else?
  8. pedal in loop A, nothing in B. Instant blend. Or different ones in different loops.
  9. It’s great! Well built, no hiss or other noise. Quiet switch. Sounds exactly how it should. All for a whopping £29 delivered from AliExpress. Very impressive.

  10. I used a Boss LS-2 for this for years. Works great.
  11. Wasn't that designed by Tye Zamora and not by Fender? If so, then all Fender did was build it so I don't think their design team can be blamed!
  12. Duck is probably my favourite bassist. I never get bored hearing him play. My big bad do Think and Tail feather. Such great fun to play.
  13. Normal on a fan fret if you want to play at a particular point on the string.
  14. I did ask them about the limiter - and it's not even like the good old boss pedal, a lot more subtle... and then I kind of bought one in my AG1000 head. It doesn't do a lot. I really like the AG1000 - it's a lovely amp, but if that Limier just had a bit more squish it would have been perfect.
  15. I thought that was just for Tye Zamora as a custom order and not a 'custom shop' bass?
  16. There's a lot of Dingwall 6 strings out there and most of them are the metal guys. Some are tuning F#BEADG though.
  17. I've had 5 inguinal hernias so I swapped to Sandberg superlight basses and really lightweight amps and cabs. Then I ruptured a tendon in my right hand - Mallet Finger - that just didn't want to heal. Spent most of a year in a cast. The tendon did eventually heal but because the finger was stationary for so long I have arthritis in it and that finger sometimes does not obey my commands. I'm using a plectrum more often but I don't really like it. It's just not the sound in my head. I've got another superlight on order - this time a shortscale Lionel. For some reason I find plectrum playing much easier with a shortie. I think it's the instrument position combined with the shorter neck. I've got a really cheap shortie at the moment but the 'Berg will be much lighter in weight. It's very annoying though.
  18. Sounds like the best you can do is sell it and buy the right sized one. I had no idea the licensed and USA were different sizes. That's just stupid.
  19. This. It's just not on brand. They would have done it by now if they wanted to. If FMIC decide to do one then I would expect it to be under the Charvel or Jackson brands instead. They take more risks with designs there. But even then, 6 string basses must only be a tiny percentage of total bass sales. Might not even be worth tooling up.
  20. No doubt they'll have to update the pedals to USB C at some point - maybe they'll do a redesign at that point too. Would be very useful.
  21. A used Barefaced Two10 would be ideal even if you have to save up a bit. Very lightweight and easy to move about. Via a convoluted route I went from Marshall VBC412 cabs (110lb each) down to a 40lb Barefaced Supertwin. The Two10 is even lighter at 31lb / 14kg. As expensive as my cab was, I have never regretted it.
  22. If a hole is too big then plumbers tale is perfect for wrapping the bushing. But if the hole is too small / tuner too big then without drilling it is not going to fit. I never order hipshot stuff direct from them. The shipping is a nightmare. I just put an order in with Bass Direct. It gets added to their next usual order so it can take a while, but it's a lot cheaper, and it can be returned to the shop if there's a problem.
  23. Although Bassdirect ordered the two they have in stock with a 35 scale.
  24. Darkglass amps don't have any valves in them. But they do have their drive circuits. I had a Mk1 MT900 and for cleans I always had the B7K circuit on at a really low drive level. I liked that a great deal.
  25. Markbass do several models with valve preamps now. The LM Tube, the Vintage and D2 etc. Worth a look.
