My Lionel will look a bit like this pic. Ordered specs: Superlight spec body - Paulownia Superlight spec neck - Norwegian Maple Matt Black Chrome hardware (all the Sandberg new tuners are now the Superlight ones) Rosewood fretboard Abalone dots. The pic is just the generic Matt Black rather than the grain from Paulownia, but it's the closest the configurator can get. I wanted something a little like John Deacon's black P bass but I just couldn't bring myself to get blingy gold hardware! Not a lot of gold left on JD's one anyway! Waiting times for ordering are now 12 months +. I ordered at the end of last April so I'm hoping for delivery this April, but it might be later than that. Sandberg's stock passive P pickups can be a bit bright (IIRC they also use 500K pots) so I am anticipating swapping to a 60s wind Aguilar pickup and 250K pots, but I'll see how it is first before I do that. It's cheaper to do that myself than getting Sandberg to do that. Especially as I already have the pickup in my parts drawer. Fingers crossed for delivery within the next 2 months!

I have 2 Superlights - a TT4 and a TT5 I also have a Lionel on order - and Sandberg will do a Superlight Lionel. In fact they will build any of their basses using the Superlight specs. It just costs a little bit more money. My Lionel will be a Superlight. My TT4 is under 6.5lb and my TT5 is amazing for a 5 string at only 6lb 12oz. The Lionel might be under 6lb when it gets here!

Hope they do a new version! Or maybe the Katana bass is supposed to be the new one? I've still got my old single speaker one the Cube 30. It's heavy by modern standards but it still sounds fantastic. If I was ever in a position that I wasn't going to gig again, I'd be keeping that and selling off the expensive kit.

I asked them on IG - they liked my question but didn't answer it. You are right though. I'm not going to randomly look for crack converters, but if it was in my town then I might make an effort.

I moved over to New Moon a few years ago. Was previously with Allianz. They were fine, and I use their products at work without difficulty, but they got a lot more expensive.

EDIT - it's been confirmed it was stolen in Australia, near Sydney! Those Rotos are really heavy compared to other strings, even other flats. If you normally like 45-105 for everyone else, then the Roto 40-100 will be just right. But even then the tension is high and you'll need to do a set up again.

Yeah - the berg sounds more EB-0 to my ears and the Serek more like a P. What's that? Have to buy both then?

I think the bridge looks great. Ignoring that it is my favourite bridge I've had on a bass it just looks right to me. I get the point about the headstock - but the beauty of Sandberg is that if you really want a 2+2 you'll be able to order it. Also be able to order it as a twin P pickups and a 3 band EQ as well if you must.

The Mark Bass AG1000 has controls at 65hz and 100hz. The other models have different EQ centres. https://www.markbass.it/product/little-ag-1000/ Funnily enough with my Super Twin (now on sale in the classifieds - hint to the OP! ) I do cut using the 65hz and boost the 100hz. I had no idea I was effectively re-creating an 8x10 though! Every day is a school day!

Measure from the 12th fret instead. Then you'll always be accurate.

I get a great deep tone from my Markbass AG1000 head. I think all the MB heads would do you very well. Add a Barefaced Super Twin cab and you'll have so much bottom end you'll be using the bass control on the amp to reduce the lows!

As for playing more / playing with other people - If a bit of practice is needed before the confidence levels are up enough to join jam nights or look for a local band, the I'd suggest dusting off some "Top 40" tab books / websites and learning a dozen pub crowd pleasers so the OP is armed with a few tunes that are ready to go. Join My Band and similar websites can take a lot of effort to sift through the rubbish but putting a "Bassist Available" advert up (and on here) is very likely to get you a couple of jams at least. Even if the early ones don't turn into a band or just a regular jam the OP will be back on the horse at least. Galloping can come later.
