  1. Very useful thank you. I think I'm going to order a Sandberg - I've had my quote in and although the 12 month waiting will be very painful I will get exactly what I want. And it will turn up at about my 50th birthday.
  2. I'm in the process of getting a quote for a Superlight Lionel. It's not on the configurator but I know they offer far more options. Superlight shortscale - might even get under 6lb!!
  3. Quick look over my shoulder.... I married a JMJ type so I suppose I'll go for the classy one for a change
  4. Bump. I've removed the Mustang as a trade candidate due to the many reports of neck dive. So it's a Lionel or a sale.
  5. Is there such a thing as a Mustang that doesn't have neck dive? Almost every review I've read / watched seems to mention it. I'm wondering if I should just keep saving up for a Lionel.
  6. Thanks chaps. As it happens I searched my trunk of parts and found an Aguilar that has poles that are flat with the surface of the plastic. So I'm going to try that. Maybe with a bit of tape on it.
  7. So do I with my Big Band. But that doesn't affect the comedy of it. To be honest it really annoys me.... I play jazz because I don't like crowds but the sods turn up anyway.
  8. On facebook there's a guy selling a pair of Aguilar J pickups. Those with some 250K pots could be just what you need. https://www.facebook.com/groups/guitarexchange/permalink/5100007073412219/?sale_post_id=5100007073412219
  9. You can always tell "legit music" by the size of the audient. (singular).
  10. On my TT4SL I ripped the whole lot out and put in a set of EMG J and the BQC preamp. It's lovely! But if I find a used Lionel then that will be an Aguilar 60s wind and a KiOgon loom.
  11. Cheap interface and use plugins with your PC? Amplitube free with a smart phone and interface? Loads of options really. When I play on headphones I use an Audient iD4 interface and my ipad. Amplitube can import all the songs from iTunes so I can play along easily.
  12. Very much this. 500K pots and quite bright pickups are a Sandberg thing. I love Sandbergs but I always end up changing the electronics.
  13. Selling my PRS to fund something else. This is an S2 - not to be confused with the cheaper SE range. I am the first owner - I bought it from Peach in November 2020 with a view to doing a load of recording. Then in December 2020 I ruptured a tendon in my right hand that only healed this Christmas so it hasn't had a lot of use and has never been out of the house. It was tuned B standard but is now back to E standard. The little brass thing in the trem cavity is called a FU Trem Stopper. It's a simple device that is just a brass bracket with a screw and a nut to stop the screw from moving upwards. These are a frankly stupid £25! (also from Peach). It only stops up bends. I found it very useful for re-tuning to dropped tunings without needing to retune every other string or adjust the springs. It is easily removable as it's held on with 2 screws. It has 2 humbuckers with coil taps with a push/pull tone control. The cavity cover and screws will be refitted before it is sold. The neck is the Pattern Regular profile (the 2022 models are now Pattern Thin). It's very comfy indeed. It comes with the gig bag that came with it, and the trem arm. It's as well built as expected for a PRS. The fretwork is excellent and it stays in tune the way a Gibson can only dream about! It's currently strung with Elixir Optiwebs. I'm only selling because I'm a bassist and now that everyone is back at work I'm not really playing much guitar and when I do I've got a strat I've had for nearly 20 years. I'm not looking for any trades unless you've got a Sandberg Lionel that is under 7.5lb I'm looking for £675 or near offer. Collection from Northants please. I don't have a guitar amp anymore so if you want to try it out plugged in, the best I can offer is a Roland Bass Cube on the "Bassman" setting for an almost Fender type tone. Or you can bring your own. Or bring a modeller to plug into the aux socket. Whatever is easiest for you. thanks.
  14. This reminds me of a bit from the Metallica gig with the San Francisco orchestra. On the extras tape (VHS!!!) there was a scene where one of the classical players was talking to Hetfield. Something on the lines of "How did you come up with that? You've mixed 2 modes in a way that I've never heard before. You took the mixolydian into the realms of baroquephyrigianyesque somethingorother..." Hetfield" I have no idea what you just said. It just sounded cool" Clearly their inability to read music held them back. I mean, nobody has ever heard of them.
  15. I am looking for trades for Shortscale basses only. Ideally a Sandberg Lionel - in a standard colour (I can't afford an aged one), maybe with some cash from me depending on spec (Removed the Mustang as a trade. Can't be dealing with neck dive) But whatever the trade is it MUST weigh under 7.5lb / 3.4kg. No exceptions I'm afraid. Lower would be even better. So trades will have to be in person and I will bring my scales! This is a Fender American Special Precision. It dates from 2013. The Specials have a slightly thinner body leading to a lower weight and the neck is also a bit thinner front to back compared to a modern P. The Specials also had more basic tuning heads and a BBOT bridge. Overall it is in pretty good condition but there are some little dings and marks that I have tried to photograph. Nothing that has gone through the paint so I'm sure it could be T-cut out if you like that sort of thing. Nothing visible unless you are really close up. It had previously had some Hipshot Ultralites fitted but they have now been removed and the bass is back to stock. For each tuner there is an extra hole on the back of the headstock that was used for mounting the Hipshots but they are hidden by the rest of the stock tuner. With 1 exception... Next to the E string tuner there is a tiny little hole on the front. Maybe 1.5mm You guessed it - when I installed the Hipshots the drill slipped and came through the front. I am sure that a toothpick glued in and sanded down would make it invisible, but as I'm not a carpenter I've left it as is. It currently has a nice low action and is easy to play. It has the "Greasebucket" tone circuit. Whatever that actually is. It's just a Vol and Tone to me! It is currently strung with Thomastik Ti Flats that are nicely settled in. Video with flats (Helix audio) Video with roundwounds (iPhone only) I am only looking for trades for a Lionel or a straight sale. I'm in Northants just off the A5 a few miles north of Towcester. ta. ***SOLD AND GONE***
  16. Nothing’s worth it. Bass is just a way of passing the time until the sweet release of death.
  17. I can read, but 99% of the cover bands I’ve been in have done it the traditional way. Working it out by listening to the album a billion times. Properly arranged sheet music for top 40 covers isn’t very common because the players are usually relying on tab. Even official tab books are wrong half the time.
  18. I can’t think of anything more boring than playing everything identically to a record. Most bands who wrote the originals don’t even do that.
