  1. I'm guessing it might not be the unit for you. But just in case... 1. The tuner is crap. Therefore I still need to use my Polytune. (It's not great, but turn the bass down a bit and always pluck at the same spot) 2. You CANNOT use the polyphonic drop-tune pedal unless you only want an amp, cab and compressor. It literally devours all the DSP. Ergo, I still need my Digitech Drop. (6 months ago the Poly model wasn't even in it. There is a simple one, but L6 customers just wouldn't shut up about it even when they were warned it would eat all the DSP. To be fair to L6 - every modeller of any brand and money suffers in a similar way for poly tuning shifting. And none of them - even the stupid money Axfx3 or the QC are as good as the Digitech Drop is. Task specific kit wins every time. Tune your bass to the lowest it needs to be for the entire set and then play the other stuff higher up the neck.) 3. There is no fuzz model with a blend control, so I have to use my Big Muff in one of the loops and blend that way. (They can all be blended with a clean signal. Just drag the Muff downwards and you'll automatically get a blending signal path) 4. I’m far too lazy to make patches for each song so I still need to use my Sadowsky preamp pedal for level matching between my basses. (Can't help you there) So that’s 4 pedals plus a wireless on a mini board next to my “all-in-one” solution. (2 pedals and the wireless. You can learn the tuner and you can blend the Muff, or indeed any other block)
  2. It will no doubt be lighter in weight, have my favourite neck in the world, and as Gregor has said the price will be the same as a VS of similar spec (1 pickup, active) it will be £1000 cheaper than the competition too... (aged ones not included).
  3. I have the BF and used to have the MB Club 121. I thought the Club 121 was a very good cab - wedge shaped, great tone etc. The BF is not a million miles away tonally, apart from the MB does have a tweeter and will go up to 20Khz (I always turn tweeters off) The BF is tiny - really tiny but doesn't sound like it. I've not tried the MB New York cab to see if that escapes small cab boxiness syndrome. The weights are both low, but the BF is still only about half the weight of the MB. It's a difficult choice really. Both make great cabs. I decided to go for the lightest option as that at the top of my importance list.
  4. The one that made me laugh most was the vid about his vintage B15 and his settings when it was clear the recorded signal was from his board!
  5. This only works if all parties know what note they are playing and they don’t continue to use the note names from standard tuning. The amount of times I’ve had to put up with that…. 😤
  6. The OC-5 is excellent. If you can find one. Worldwide stock is very low due to supply chain issues.
  7. The jump between notches on mine is far too much. Maybe they are all a little different?
  8. Sonny T (Prince, Cory Wong etc) started that way. Now he has a custom Warwick left hand, strung the wrong way. B on the bottom.
  9. Rehearsal this morning went very well. It wasn't quite the workout I wanted as our drummer was missing due to covid, but it's still pretty loud band. Very happy with the tone. On board compressor is fairly crap. Probably better if I was sticking to 1 way of playing but as I swap between fingers, pick and slap the differences are too big for the single knob compressor to deal with. So I'll keep taking a pedal. And after some more research it seems that swapping the notched volume control for a smooth one is 5 mins easy work. Definitely be doing that as it's annoying. Great sound though. Pre Shape OFF, Slight scoop with the EQ, and just a smidge of drive. Very happy!
  10. I did! I thought about blowing loads more on the Berg HP, but then I thought - I'll try something a lot cheaper and with legendary customer service first. I have a rehearsal tomorrow - can't wait to try it out.
  11. I've had a few chats with Dave over the years - I'll send him an email and ask.
  12. I've got EMG's 1mm from the strings. It's quite a high output! I only got it this morning so I need to figure out how to set it up properly. Lovely sounding thing. I'd love to swap that notched master volume for a normal one though.
  13. Why is there a (I think) Green LED behind the VU as well? What is that for? Or is it just for flashy nonsense?
  14. I now have a lovely RM800 Evo2. What the smeg do I do with the VU meter? EDIT: has anyone swapped the notched master volume for a non-notched pot? It’s a bit fiddly if I want it halfway between notches.
  15. Put a wanted ad up. I gigged a pair of One10 for ages and it was excellent. I wouldn't want to mix and match
  16. I was lucky enough to see him live. One hell of a show.
  17. I love mine, and I love my parallel fret basses too. it’s all good.
  18. i use an Audient iD4 interface into my ipad pro, and then Amplitube for the sounds / play along app. with whatever headphones are closest at the time.
  19. The Sandberg Basic is active, but it has a bypass and one of the knobs turns into a normal tone control when in bypass. It's a very good system.
  20. Sandberg do a passive VS as well as the active one. Musicman do 2 The Joe Dart - just a volume control Mike Herrera (that has 3 knobs but they are dummies)
  21. I bought Andy's Ampeg Compressor and it's very nice. Arrived very fast and I took the risk of using it at rehearsal on the day it did. All good! Thank you.
