  1. I quite like the look of those Ashdown cabs! Too heavy though. Maybe a Barefaced Three10 with a tweeter (that could be turned off) could do it properly. Tilt back wheels etc. Nice
  2. 'Spenk' ? https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=spenk No. No clearer.
  3. AARRGGHHH why do these things always turn up when I have no money!?
  4. A single line of vertical speakers is also more efficient for horizontal spread as there is less wave cancellation. 4x10 square won't spread the sound as wide as 4x10 vertical. I wonder if Barefaced will ever do a 'Extra Super Twin" with a 3rd cone to get it taller as well! That would be fun!
  5. yeah, but it would still be funny.
  6. The music trust I play with has decided not to have a Christmas concert this year due to covid and the amount of vulnerable grandparents etc. Found out that instead there will be a Facebook live stream of all the different ensembles via an iPhone. And on top of that, the big band will be doing Mariah sodding Carey’s “All I want for Christmas…” it’s a great bit of pop music but I’ve played it so many times already this year I’m getting a bit bored with it So no xmas decorated stage in a large hall… just the ensembles in primary school classrooms where we practice. it will either be a great bit of fun or a bad sounding disaster. Or a mix. I’ve also been press ganged to play with the young kids ukulele orchestra. Ukulele version of Sting’s Fields of Gold and a Taylor Swift tune. The big band is still down on numbers following covid so I have no idea how many will turn up - I suspect some won’t be happy about a live stream on a public Facebook page!
  7. Now that the band has ended, you can send him a link to this thread. Maybe he’ll learn something.
  8. MBrace guitar holder. http://mbracestand.com For a bass you need a wide bottom, / tripod mic stand for balance. I’s a bit more wobbly than other more expensive options, but it works well enough.
  9. I used one that fits on a mic stand while I was getting over surgery. I’ll try and find a link
  10. If they did they they’d never sell any to ADAM owners. It’s like Neural’s plug in business model. Individual plugins that could have been joined together like Helix Native.
  11. Hotone Thunder Bass. 5W Ampeg sounds. More than enough for the bedroom. I use mine with a BF Super Twin 😂
  12. As Doug owns both companies I’m sure there’s a lot of sharing of ideas.
  13. What bass is it? Lots of different body shapes for headless instruments! That will make a difference to suggestions.
  14. I'm not saying it doesn't sound good. It's just that it's everywhere. It's become the modern equivalent of Dual Rectifier use in the 1990s. Every metal album sounding like Machinehead.
  15. To be fair it's only generic because they've been so successful. But I must admit I am getting very bored with the Darkglass sound being on every new metal record.
  16. Place your bets! I reckon £550.
  17. If he has a smart phone then an interface would allow him to plug bass into interface, then into the phone and use a wide range of apps made just for this purpose. Amplitube is a great app with loads of sounds in it, and he can import music into the app to play along with it for practice. Unless there's no way to recharge the phone while camping. In that case it might not be a great idea. Depending on whether the phone is iOS or Android there are quite a few options for the interface. But if money's not an issue, then I'd also vote for the Boss Waza Air headphone set up. It's very clever!
  18. Well - I am a huge user of their kebabs already!
  19. Sub / Ray34 and the branded "Sterling by Musicman" are non USA The Stingray Special is the current normal USA stingray. The design got tweaked a little in 2018. Then there are some limited editions. But the Stingray Special is the "standard" model.
  20. While one does not seek that position if one's friends were to convince one that would be the best way to serve...
  21. Greetings! Is there any chance of you guys developing, just as an example, a headphone based wireless home practice system with some great built in sounds and a good app to go with it? Just a thought!
  22. Sorry for the slight thread derail - can you tell me what model bag that is please?
  23. If this isn't sorted then it will come to a nasty suppurating head exactly when you don't want it to... At the gig. In front of an audience who just want to have fun without any drama. The punters will notice when a beloved song gets ruined, and they'll never forget if there's a tantrum on stage and you'll never get another booking under that band name, and you can bet whatever you like the singer and guitarist are going to blame everyone else for it, and when you inevitably walk after the sh1tshow of a gig, they'll claim you were fired for it, and they'll put it on the facebook page etc etc. "We've replaced that eijit who couldn't play...." Fix it now, or quit now. It's too close to the gig to be arsing about with it.
  24. Of course we are ignoring something important here. If all bass bridges were slot loading rather than the string through the hole idea swapping used strings would be far easier. No more trying to feed the already wound silk end through the bridge - just lift it off. Then swapping between already cut / wound strings takes only a few minutes. I love the bridge on my Sandberg for that. It's just so easy.
  25. That is awesome - but it's also £1000 worth of Noble preamp too.
