I'm actually thinking about the guitar version of this. It's a fair bit cheaper and I've got no doubt it will do a fine clean tone. Afterall the early Fender amps that are now so popular for guitar started life as bass amps in many cases.
When I practice on headphones it's really for sight reading and jazz band practice stuff so I'm not really fussed about anything other than a bit of compression.
The Guitar model does say that the clean tones are suitable for bass or acoustic guitar too.
Then I've got something I can also use for guitar. I suspect the other way round won't be nearly as useful.
Well.... I have my Supertwin... but I've ordered a replacement One10 as well!
My old MB amp did sound quite different with each cab but I really liked it with both. I *think* I just preferred it with the Super Twin but it's a close run thing.
Thomann have them listed at £679 now - available in 2-3 weeks apparently.
I know I've recently sold my Marcus head but I am missing that Mark Bass sound!
I'll have to raise some more money at this rate - I've already spent the gains from the sale!
Just a thought as well - Sandberg will build the VS shape as a Superlight if you make a custom order.
I was looking at that myself a little while ago.
Superlight 5 strings in the TT style are usually under 8lb, and some get under 7.5lb.
I was going to say the Sandberg VS5 - available as 35 inch scale as an option and the specs say bridge spacing will go to 19.5mm
They are usually 22 fret but they are have recently built some 24 fret extended fingerboards for Doug Johns and they do offer some minor custom work.
Definitely worth an email!
When using the V2 amp with the DG Suit what level of tweaking can be done to the compressor?
The manual is remarkably crap on that point.
Can ratio / threshold / attack / release be set or is it pretty limited?
ta.
I've updated the list in the first post.
Need to find out more about Markbass's new controllable Limiters on their new models to see if it is just a limiter or if there is more going on.
They are all as good or as bad as each other.
They shift millions of parcels every day and there will be a percentage that gets lost / destroyed / never collected.
I've had brilliant and terrible service from all of them over the years.
Mixing cabs is always a compromise. EQ settings cannot be perfect for both.
Sell the 4x10 and get something that gives you what you need in a single cab, and then if you still want more, get another identical one.
