  1. Another vote for a Roland Bass Cube 30 - one of the older heavier ones. I still have mine despite my silly money main rig. It just sounds great.
  2. I haven't seen that film for decades. I might have to buy it.
  3. Darkglass innit. There'll be the Ultra version in a month for an extra 20%.
  4. Onboard FX are a bit silly. Have to stop playing to make a change. That's what my feet are for!
  5. I managed to play for 10 mins yesterday. Nothing mad - no Sheehan stuff - just a bit of Duck Dunn sort of thing. TI Flats so nice low tension Loads of mistakes caused by the finger not reacting how it used to, but still far better than I expected. I'm going to try and do 10 mins twice a day for simple tunes and then hopefully I won't get replaced with my big band meets again in September.
  6. About 6 months old. Only used at home. I'm going back to a mini board so it takes up too much space. £50 inc UK postage _______________________________________________ OC MojoMojo - SOLD ______________________________________________ Boss OD-1X Amazing over drive pedal (see Pete Thorn's demo for details) RRP is £129 Selling for £65 including UK postage.
  7. I can’t get over £180 for a tiny 2 band preamp
  8. I've just got Notion - lots to learn but great so far. Thanks chaps.
  9. Even with 4 strings you can have a wide old Fender precision with 44mm at the nut, or a modern jazz type at 38mm. Can make a big difference in comfort even before you get to how fat the neck is, and whether it's a C or D shape etc. Get yourself to a good shop and try as many as you can.
  10. This - it's standard on Sandberg active basses. Works very well.
  11. Smaller body? Smaller neck? Shorter scale so the distance between the frets is a little shorter? Lots of options about at all price points. Not like when I were a lad!
  12. Thanks chaps. Staffpad is a bit pricey for an amateur hack like me, but I'll have a good look at the others and find some videos.
  13. I have a shiny new iPad pro and the apple pencil. Some time ago there was a thread (I can't find it - might have even been on a different forum!!) that detailed some music transcription apps (not tab or at least not just tab) that were pencil compatible and had the functionality of Sibelius type stuff - write the part, play it back, transpose for transposing instruments etc, but with the added advantage of not having to drag drop notes - and just writing them on the screen. Can anyone point me in the right direction for such an app? ta
  14. Impossible to answer without knowing what is on the board!
  15. Get the same as whatever your guitarist uses. They are all very slightly different. Cut down on variables. The TU-3 is ok but it is a bit jumpy compared to the TU-2 or the Polytune. Or or do it properly and get a Petersen Strobostomp
  16. I'd get a Sandberg VS4 passive.
  17. I quite enjoyed getting that blister - even if it is a bit sore!
  18. Probably my Tech 21 VT500 head, and definitely my Barefaced Super Twin. I ordered that just before the lockdown started. And my little Ibby Mezzo 5 string. Maybe I'll use the 3 together at the first rehearsal in Sept.
  19. I am finally out of a cast & splint during the day. I still have to splint it at night During the day the ring stops me from hyper extending the middle joint and the tape is to support the end a bit. There is quite a bit of droop on the end that probably won't straighten anymore, but at least I can type with my right hand properly now. I am also allowed to do very gentle playing with that finger as a form of exercise. Few minutes at a time, couple of times per day. Being in a splint / cast for 6 months means that the joints are very stiff and the range of movement is pretty small. I've gone from Colorado Bulldog to finding U2 difficult - all because of the stiffness of the finger. I have also discovered that all my callus has gone. This was after only 5 mins with flatwounds!! I can also hold a pen reasonably normally now as long as I've stretched. I have to stretch every hour. I'm also allowed to lift light things too - like a cup of tea. Still - after the way it's been going over the last half a sodding year, I'll take any improvement I can take. No idea if I'll be able to play with fingers in September when the band is supposed to be rehearsing again, but we'll see. Fingers crossed! - (I can almost do that now!)
  20. I think the control labels are on a removable clear sticker - designed to be taken off after buying the bass.
  21. What shape is the existing pickup? Does it have screw lugs or is it the soapbar shape?
