I remember when Danny Filth was on the TV answering questions about Cradle of Filth's (in)famous "Jesus is a C***" t-shirt When pressed to give a reason it was "Because we sold 100,000 of them" - and it was after that they started to get festival bookings too. So as a bit of advertising it was genius. Some art is specifically created to appeal to a demographic that will buy it. Some is created just because of the love of the artist. It's almost impossible to decide which is which if the artist won't say. I have slagged off Nickelback in the past, but then saw a great interview with Devin Townsend where he explained meeting Chad wotsit and that despite the saccharine pop rock reputation, Chad was as obsessed with his music as DT was about his. No cynical marketing / writing approach at all, no aim for chart success. Just writing what he loved like we all do. I'm far more sad at most of the top 40. Formulaic, no risk, all auto-tuned, brickwall mastered, identikit crap that with very few exceptions won't even make it onto a "Now that's what I call music" compilation. That really is a factory, and it's not the artists making the money.

That was the first song I heard that really spoke to me from a 'regular friday night' point of view. I miss university.

This. And they are far far better players too.

Not quite - the version the Bass Channel did was carefully constructed from watching and listening to live performances of the tracks. Ok, the guy from the Bass Channel used his fingers instead of a Pick, but they are Jason's parts. It's this one: They also have individual tracks with much louder bass to learn from. They did have individual proper mix as well, but Metallica's record label got upset about that. I don't listen to the original anymore - I listen to this version. It's much better.

5 or 6 years I reckon. Kids will be starting university this year and I'm going to have to make my strings last twice as long!

I not bothered where anything is made if the product is good - I was just wrong in my assumption. I just thought all the ABM's were made here. I still want one - I just don't have any money at the moment!

I'm really glad that it is actually being taken out and played. I also enjoyed the meltdown when Kirk actually took it on tour with him. For years GM fans had been complaining that it wasn't getting used, and now they got upset that it was. Loved it!

The M.2 drive will be for the operating system and anything else you want on start up. The larger SSD will be for anything you actually do. But you should have a 3rd somewhere or a web-based back contract with someone to keep your data safe. That Power Supply is too small. Modern Power Supplies can have manufacturer warranties of up to 12 years so over-spec that to allow you to be able to power any future upgrades. I'd want a 650W in there at least. There's no mention of a GPU on there at all. While onboard graphics are tolerable for many things if you want to do any video work with Reaper or OBS or Da Vinci Resolve then you will be underspecced. Doesn't have to be a stupid money GPU like the current generation that cost more than the rest of the machine put together, but a RTX1060 (That's 2 generations ago) would do the work far better than whatever onboard graphics are on that motherboard, and at a reasonable price. 32GB Ram is pretty much essential when you start adding plugins into Reaper otherwise you'll bog down quickly. It might be an idea to give us your desired budget and we can all go off to the various companies Configurators and have a play.

oh - I thought the ABM's were made in the UK.

It does say Country of Origin: China. Is that a mistake or were some of them made over there? Zooming in on the back of it says Manufactured in PRC

Doesn't Stockman use the Darkglass Alpha Omega these days? A pedal is a lot cheaper than an amp!

Get an Ibanez Mezzo for £200, then send it to Feline Guitars to have the headstock removed, and get it modified as you want. Just like @therealting did with his. (His was a 5)

I don't think they are taking orders at the moment. No idea how long that will last for.

Flying - as in it's going in the hold? I'd be wanting a full blown flight case for that! -
Anything but tort. Even this would be better than tort

The La Bella White nylons are fantastic strings, and they last for years. Hopefully you'll like them - over the time they last they are quite cheap per year.

I've changed strings 52 times, learned something along the way

If I get a chance I'll do a clip or 2 of some rock tones with those strings. Will have to be on a PJ though as I haven't put them on my Sandberg jazz yet! -

I play in a big band and have to cur through 20 trumpets / bones / sax / piano / drums etc and it works great with that But at home I write and record rock and metal and I'm very happy with that use too. They are flats so they don't have that super high zing of rounds, but I've never liked that anyway. Gets in the way of the guitars and everything needs it's place, but there's certainly enough treble for a good rock tone I reckon. -
Silent as far as I can tell. I have one too and it's ace.

Bass drop tuning pedal, which one you’ll recommend?
fretmeister replied to BasistaFunky's topic in Effects
I liked the Digitech Drop but I got a 5 string instead in the end. I found the drop to be accurate and stable but I do play quite gently. I have read reports from other players who are more aggressive that they didn't get on with it as well. If you have tunes that need a low B then I'd either string a 4 to BEAD or get a 5. On the 4 you'd have to relearn any tune in different tunings but once you've got the hang of it it's a lot easier having all the notes in the same place no matter what song you are doing. -
