  1. Sandberg will let you special order a Super Light VS model (the nearly P shape). The J version comes in at about 6.5lb Have to check with them on colours though - the TT (J shape) is only available in stains rather than paint. I don't know if there is a technical reason, or it's just a way to keep the weight down. They do have a lovely red burst though.
  2. Tom just bought my Barefaced One10 cabs. Came to collect, wore a mask etc etc. Very smooth all the way. Thank you. Good to meet you.
  3. Selling my pair of Barefaced One10 cabs. Both are in good condition but with the expected tolex ungluing on the back. That never bothered me but IIRC a buyer can get some glue from Alex if they want to sort it. They have been played regularly with a jazz big band and sound amazing even with a low B. Only reason I'm selling is that I bought a Super Twin that I'm using more. Looking for £275 each but a deal could be done for the pair if you want both. Ideally collection from Northants as I do not have the original boxes anymore. Not sure what the new lockdown would do for shipping times. I recently sold a Marshall head and the buyer stood at the front door while I played in the hallway so he could see all was working while maintaining social distancing. So that is possible and seemed to work well. Payment by paypal only. I can't get to a bank at the moment as I'm looking after someone who is shielding post surgery. Thanks.
  4. I think the issue is whether you want the toe switch to work or not. I'm not aware of any other than the mission one with the 2nd jack for the toe switch control. Better off asking in the main facebook group. 30,000 nerds there!
  5. Have you got a budget in mind? Used ones come up reasonably priced.
  6. The tiny BF one10 handles a low B beautifully. Top end is nice too - but no tweeter. Does go to 6Khz though
  7. Approach it from the side. "We are a band of mid 30s males...... if you have the talent and think you would be a good fit musically and socially then...." That will cut 90% of the people you are trying to not recruit.
  8. This. I was in a 4 piece with 2 women, 2 men. Agent said he would expect to charge 20-30% more because of the (his words I hasten to add) "Tit factor" Funnily enough at the next gig the women wore decided to wear more revealing outfits. Made it quite difficult to concentrate for 2 reasons (not those 2) - Firstly they were both very attractive. Secondly the singer was married to the drummer and I was worried about getting a stick to the back of the head if I was caught looking at the singer's bum too often!
  9. For band use - Depends entirely on the song. For a youtube bass cover it has to match the thing you are playing along to otherwise it won't sound quite right and you'll get armies of commentators complaining in the comments. Even if you play a line that the band did, say perhaps from a different performance of the same song the YT crowd will still have a go.
  10. Well - I have a G70 as you seem to. Then I looked at getting another transmitter and it was about £170 or something. Then Andertons did the blowout on the G75 set for £149.99. So I bought that. Got another transmitter on the cheap and a spare base unit, albeit it the different shape. Bargain!
  11. I bought another transmitter for my other gigging bass.
  12. Order them from any Dimarzio dealer, I imagine.
  13. Mostly - not the 32 scale as D'addario don't make a medium scale B string that is for sale to the public. They only supply it to Ibanez for fitting to new ones. Monumentally thick as that is. So the 32 has Newtones on it and I like them enough that I may well swap the other basses when they need restringing.
  14. I used to think that. Then I got a 34 scale Marleaux and the low B was better than anything longer I'd ever played / owned. Even the 37 inch stuff. Zon Hyperbass was similarly amazing in lower tunings. And the little Ibby 32 scale has a better low B than any Stingray 5 I've owned, and I've had a few. I'm of the view that construction is more important than scale length.
  15. Don't laugh... Ibanez SRMD 205. Mezzo (32 scale) £299 and use some of the rest to upgrade the pickups and preamp.
  16. Have a look at the parts on ebay too. Not unusual for a Stingray neck without tuners to sell for quite a bit above £500. I suppose they are just rare as EBMM won't sell them without first receiving the original one back.
  17. It is! Sounds fantastic, plenty loud enough for home use and doesn't have an annoying fan. It is surprisingly loud through a BF Super Twin! 38.5kg Nope! Never going to happen. Couldn't cope with that anymore.
  18. Three amps Two are loud, fully featured, and quite expensive. The other one is as simple as simple can be and is really an £85 toy with an annoying power supply. Guess which one I like the sound of best? Maybe I just need to get an Ampeg and have done with it?
  19. Oh man. I wish you were closer. I want to swap my pair of One10 for one of these.
  20. Reaper. Its fantastic and there’s a superb series of vids for instructions. Easy to use. Add a cheap interface like a Focusrite and you are all set.
