  1. I forgot about my other jobs. I'm also a magician. Mainly do kids parties. They don't pay as well as adult dinner party stuff but they are a lot more fun. It's really a paid hobby and I'm really picky about taking the bookings as I want it to be stress relief rather than a 'real' job. But it's also nice to know I could do 4 to 6 shows a weekend if I really needed to. And I volunteer at a local music trust. That involves playing bass in a few ensembles and stacking chairs! No pay or expenses but the coffee is excellent!
  2. I worked very hard to be able to afford a used Hyperbass. I was gutted! All it did was increase the amount of wrong notes I could play. Must have been something wrong with it.
  3. Has to be some fault involved somewhere. The disease claims are usually Asbestos related, or Vibration White Finger but can be other stuff. The spread of a nasty flu doesn't really fall into that. But thinking about it for a mo - if a vulnerable person was in hospital and a staff member broke the quarantine rules thus infecting the vulnerable person - that type of thing could come across my desk.
  4. I predict and plan budgets in high value litigation including catastrophic injury and disease cases.
  5. I really am looking for tiny. I already have a PJB headphone amp, and Amplitube on my phone but headphones get tiring quickly and it's not great for telly watching. The Backbeat is too expensive for my purposes. I've got an old Roland Cube but it's too big to take with me and surprisingly heavy. I might order the Blackstar and give it a test run. I'm not massively fussed about a brilliant bass tone, more for noodling and doing a bit of reading practice.
  6. Not the power amp, the drive section. trying not to take any pedals!
  7. Lottery type gambling with prizes require compliance with the various Gaming Acts and regulations. Non compliance can lead to massive fines.
  8. Having both is awesome! i would love my DG amp with the MB Marcus EQ. The M900 bass control is a bit high.
  9. Are they any good for a bit of noodling while watching telly? Or taking on work courses etc? Any alternative to the Fly amp? ta.
  10. Thank dog for that. Too heavy for me.
  11. Ah damn I’m tempted. Whats the weight please?
  12. I find La Bellas to sound uneven out of the packet and then start to sound similar after a few weeks. It’s always the E that is different too start with. I went back to Thomastiks anyway.
  13. If it needed that much protection I wouldn’t have bought it in the first place. Rack mount kit would be far less hassle.
  14. Thread bump time. I am loving the EMGs but I also fancy the ability to do EQ changes from the bass when I'm on a tight stage. With that in mind I've now got an EMG BQC system to fit in it. Vol / Balance / Stacked Bass & Treble / Stacked Mid and Freq. Now it definitely needs the battery box being wired up to make room in the cavity. As my iron isn't working and I don't have any shrink wrap I'll be dropping it off to my favourite tech over the weekend. And as there are only 2 wires that need soldering - the rest is all solderless - he will laugh at me for not doing it myself. The stacked knobs supplied by EMG are a bit naff looking, but at the same time they are really light weight so that helps my obsession too! I'll have to play tomorrow's rehearsal within something else while it is getting done.
  15. What extra £150? I ordered the original Marcus 800. The shop contacted me to say they didn't have any but they had spoken to the distributor and they would like to offer me the Gold Line version for the same money! So I said yes! My Sandberg is getting an upgrade this weekend (EMG preamp to go with the EMG pickups) so it will be interesting to see how it all works together.
  16. I did get the gold line. They are different. Has a semi parametric instead of the Millerizer scoop control.
  17. Yup. Just get a Marcus Miller model. Job done.
  18. Loved: Demeter VTBP M- 800 D (Still hate myself for selling it). Like a lot: Darkglass M900 and Mark bass Marcus Limited Goldline Not bad: Genz Benz Shuttle and Genz Streamliner Didn't like: TecAmp Puma and Mark Bass F1
  19. The BF one10 is what I'm using with my big band. I have a pair but indoors with an audience of 180-200 I don't need it. If we are playing outside then I take the other one as well.
  20. I'd love one, but ignoring the price for a moment, there is no way I'm going back to carrying that sort of weight ever again!
  21. My EBMM Stingray 5 is a smidge over 8.5lb (yes, the 5 string! Yes it has been modified) My precision is 7 3/4 lb And my Sandberg TT4 jazz is about 6.5 lb. I won't buy another bass over 8lb anymore.
  22. EBMM should discontinue the Sterling and just re-introduce the SLO neck option for the new Stingray Specials. Especially if they are not going to do a lightweight update to the Sterling.
  23. https://ebssweden.com/content2/welcome-home-to-the-ebs-802-high-dynamics-linear-bass-amp/ $2500
  24. I use a 1x10 with a drummer, and another 20 brass and reeds players too. No no issues at all.
  25. She's a great player. Her solo stuff is pretty good too. Certainly fresher than the Satriani / Vai stuff that is sounding a bit tired now.
