Smooth Hound. U.K. built. I had a L6 G70 and it has horrible drop out issues. Lots on line about it.

Bass that has the "P" cut through but with a slim neck?
fretmeister replied to Pirellithecat's topic in Bass Guitars
Sandberg VS4 The necks are king of halfway between P and J and very comfy. -
You said it. Not me.

I tried this once - the bass itself was fine but my brain couldn't cope for some reason. I'm quite happy on EADG and on BEADG but for some reason a 4 string with a low B... Even more weird - I'm happy in drop D as well! Maybe I need to do more practice!

Does anyone actually use their B string?
fretmeister replied to LITTLEWING's topic in General Discussion
Loads. But I’m playing big band stuff and the keys get changed all the time. -
@SpondonBassed That is actually a replica of Victor Wooten's regular bass that was aged over the years the old fashioned way. So yes, it is a reproduction of genuine wear. Here's the vid:

I really like it!

Nope. For me - Weight & balance, then sound. Looks come dead last. Yes I would play a Basslab instrument in a Big Band!

If you can't do it in the Helix then you are doing it wrong.

Maruszczyk Jake 5 with 'tone cavitied' body.. MDF?
fretmeister replied to benjo's topic in Bass Guitars
I had a similar buzz on a ray. turned out to be a saddle spring just nudging up to the string itelf. Took me ages to find it. Spinning the spring round sorted it out, but I still stick a little foam there now. Doesn't get in the way. -
I read somewhere that most Fender custom shop stuff is ordered with relicing. Sandberg still make loads. But anyway - it's just another finish. It amuses me to see so many people with their knickers in a twist over it. When you look at a bass catalogue you might well just go past the sunburst, or the neon yellow to get to the ones you like. Why does relicing make you stop and need to whinge? It's bizarre. (I've copied this comment so I can use it next week on the next relic thread)

This is for a big band gig. Can't be arsed to take my rack for that! Bass, tuner, compressor, amp. and now an Octave. Although I had forgotten the BSW does a great octave. I'll have to dig that out. Only downside is that it eats batteries and for this I want to keep a battery powered board.

I've got a MXR BOD and it definitely doesn't track as well as say a microPog. But the MP sounds more artificial.

EBMM will want the serial numbers and stuff. They don't like their kit being installed on other basses or bitsas. Saying that - if you can convince them to let you have the new lightweight bridge from the specials (if the screw holes line up) you could save a bit of weight at the same time.
