  1. Digitech Trio does this in a pedal. It's quite fun, if a little basic. Still it gives me some drums on my board for practising at home.
  2. I still sub to BGM, mainly because I spend all day staring at screens I like to read something on paper. And I like that I might discover things selected by an editor rather than only finding what I might be searching for on the web.
  3. https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitar-effects/bass-compressor-pedals/darkglass-hyper-luminal-hybrid-compressor Andertons showing at £235. That's quite a bit under the Origin Cali CB Deluxe - and if the suite allows greater control then the DG could be great. I really like my Cali Bass but I would prefer separate Attack and Release controls.
  4. I've fronted a few bands in my time. The odd thing is I find it very easy when I'm playing guitar, but quite difficult when playing bass. I don't know why - I'm a far better bassist than guitarist but there is something rhythmically that seems to have vocal and guitar fit together easier. For me anyway. The complexity or speed of the music doesn't seem to matter either. I struggle with bass and vocal on "Sittin' on the dock of the bay" but I can nail anything Metallica related on guitar and vocal. I hate my brain sometimes!
  5. Paul McCartney and Sting are probably better known TBH.
  6. I'm a big fan of Nordy's. I've got the trad (non-humbuking) Big J Blade and it's a lovely sounding pickup.
  7. Funnily enough - one of my favourite patches is using 2 of the Darkglass models in parallel paths with very different EQ on each... but without any amps or cabs. Just using EQ, some compression. Does the HX do parallel paths? If it can then I might be convinced to look at the HX.
  8. ah - I'd forgotten about them. Very reasonable used on ebay too. MMmmmm!!!
  9. I still love my Helix - but it's a rack and I cannot be arsed to carry it around with me. It gets all the love at home. And the Helix is the only thing I use for guitar (although I reckon I've played about 10 mins of guitar in the last year). But I want a small board to take out with me - when it comes to carrying stuff low weight and convenience wins every time!
  10. As it says! ive got a couple, but they all seem to suffer a bit on bass. Anyone got any recommendations for thick chewy low end swirling?
  11. Yeah.... but the old one had jacks in the top. These are in the side. im guessing once the patch cables are in there will be zero difference.
  12. I should have blown my nose. Is it bed time yet? Are my flys undone?

    FRFR?

I’ve got a yamaha DXR 10. its works very well for bass despite the supposed lack of low end. In reality most FOH engineers will cut everthing below about 60-80hz anyway to stop any booming. I cut everything below 80hz on my Helix to get a nice tight sound. and if I plug my iPod into it the low end is immense. So really try a few out and trust your ears!
  14. Assume 25% on the item price and the shipping (unless you get free shipping of course)
  15. It's Register Office and not Registry Office. Alas the wrong one has become so common even a few councils are now using the wrong term.
  16. IIRC Vat has to be paid when an item comes into the country ( or the eu as a whole) for the first time. so even if it’s used it might get vat’d. and the 20% will be added to the item value and the shipping costs as well. Doesnt matter that that it’s a trade. You are just buying it with an item that has its own value rather than money.
  17. Is there plenty of theory and reading on the course?
  18. Before. As if it was loaded in the bass. Tried it with a B3K and the original AO so far. Liked it a lot with both. Interesting that the Bass control on the AO is actually at 80hz and the M81 is at 40HZ so low end eq-ing can be done very carefully between them. I have not tried it after drive yet. No doubt I'll try that at some point but my reason for buying was to have it at the beginning of the chain to avoid carving into my bass any more than I already have.
  19. It has arrived and I've had a quick play on it. It's very good. Super clean as expected and adds activeness to my PJ-Ray - and makes it easier to tame the top end as it is a bright bass - far more controllable than just a passive tone.. So far I think I also prefer it to the active circuit in my Marleaux too. Excellent bit of kit.
  20. I'm sort of planning my next purchase. Has anyone got one of the new Fender American Pro series jazz basses? Any opinions? Are they actually better than the previous model that would save me a bit of cash? ta
