  1. Anyone got one of these basses? They seem to have a great online reputation, and from a few reviews seem to be lighter than a Fender P. The narrower neck appeals too. I quite fancy a good passive P and it doesn't have to be a Fender, and as Duck Dunn probably has my favourite precision sound it seems like a bit of a no-brainer if the Skyline series are up to it. All thoughts welcome, particularly about the weight of them - if I couldn't get one under 8.5lb then this idea is a non-starter. ta.
  2. Ace! Thank you. Having searched for that I see Mooosharekkkkk have also done a bass with them in, the Clean & Clear winding. When I get home I'll have a good listen on some proper speakers.
  3. That Yammie is lovely. US ebay has one for about $2000. I bet it weighs as much as I do as well
  4. Heavy cabs Heavy amps Basses that weigh more than 8.5 lb Playing in rock bands Basses that have even a minuscule amount of neck dive
  5. ThorpyFX Fallout Cloud. active 2 band EQ on it. Perfect for bass use.
  6. If the pub has heavily advertised the gig and was expecting more punters because of live music then finding a replacement was the right thing to do. i earn some of my money from magic. If I can’t do a show I have to find someone else if at all possible. It’s the right thing to do. Extra money - maybe. Depends on the type of show.
  7. Does anyone have any experience with these? I'm thinking of further modding my P-Ray to turn it into a PJ-Ray. The difficulty is that almost all J pickups are for 19mm spacing. Aguilar do a 17.5mm option but they are special orders and they appear to only be available as a pair. I only want the bridge version. The Nordstrand blade appears to make string spacing issues irrelevant. Anyone tried one? I'll probably take the plunge anyway, but opinions are always welcome!
  8. I did. Lovely thing. It was the black and maple - particularly with the vintage tint on the neck that had me very excited. When I play big band I always take a 5 string as I usually get piano scores, but when I'm playing at home the 4 strings come out.
  9. oh man. I didn't see it. Gutted. Proper gutted.
  10. So you selling your black MIM yet? Just asking!

  12. Every band I've been in I have been one of the founding members or started it completely. The guys that audition had to fit with me. It wasn't planned like that, it just happened. I actually really like the idea of being given a set list to learn and then just having to turn up. I'd be very happy to never do the organisation again. I'm not really gigging at the moment (apart from an educational trust orchestra), but in a couple of years my eldest daughter will be old enough to be allowed to play in the jazz clubs. She is turning into a great clarinettist and (at the moment anyway) wants me and a drummer friend to play with her. If we can find a good pianist then we'll have a great little jazz quartet. Really looking forward to that!
  13. This one makes me laugh. It also reminds me of when I heard something amazing for the first time
  14. 70s disco sounds awesome. How do I do that?

  16. That’s impressive for such a big instrument. Still far too much for my back, but still impressive.
  17. I’ve got one too. I’m waiting for hernia surgery so it’s meant I can still play.
  18. It’s not a loop hole. It’s the selling of 2 separate but compatible items.
