Genre specific of course... but if the audience is dancing then they like the rhythm section at least. They'll tolerate mediocre guitarists and singers if the rhythm is right. As for the OP's comment about compression - I think that gets lumped in with the dodgy sound caveat. And even if the bassist isn't using a compressor - the FOH guy will (or should) be.

I've been looking at the specs. So it has all the models / cabs / fx etc - BUT it only has 6 blocks in the chain (only 1 processor) But looking at 99% of my live patches, I haven't got more than 6 blocks in most of them anyway.

Gigrig Power Generator Will do 5A from the distributor units (but not the isolator units)

I think it's the nature of the drive - like an overdriven SVT with loads of flub and fuzziness rather than a genuine bass overdrive like a Pearce or DG.

Yup. It's like 90s metal guitars - all tubescreamer boosted Mesa Dual Recs. Couldn't get away from them. It's annoying because the DG stuff is actually very versatile when the drive knob isn't welded at full. The AO is actually a brilliant clean & warm preamp. I use it like that most of the time rather than teh brewtal.

But that's not a bad thing!

Big plate tuners models (Vintage / Mex 50s & 60s etc often have neck dive. Modern ones with lightweight tunes have it less, and quite often none.
