1. I was looking at the little compressor. Including shipping it is £64.75. Adding 25% (vat at 20% and then import at (I think) 4.4) makes that £81 Amazon have them for £89.
2.
...but what will the customs import fees bump the price up to?
Add about 25% on top of the unit price and shipping. That will be close.
3. A friend's band is looking for a new bassist and frontman. Can be the same person, or 2 people. They are a great band and well worth joining. Here is his text: Garrison - require bassist and a frontman. 4. Too much low mids? Err, that's a P sound. You'll probably need very different amp EQ settings compared to your jazz. Still, it you want less mids then the SD Quarter Pounder has more bass and lowered mids.
5. Why would you turn up without your own gear if you hadn't confirmed in advance what the studio would provide?
6. Cut the treble and bass. That will give you a mid hump curve. Then turn the amp up.
7. Can tell if this is actually metal or an effect, but it looks good http://www.wdmusic.com/fender_p_bass_mexican_std_pickguard_pbs-414.html
8. Was just looking at these. If they end up weighing under 8lb as the post above then I'm having one.
9. That's a shame. I had a VJ jazz many years ago and apart from the weight it was lovely. If I still had it I probably would have paid Shuker to chamber it. In those days I didn't know it could be done.
10. Can you even get a new Modulus ones anymore? I keep seeing facebook things about them back in business, and then nothing more for months.
11. Bit rubbish. Get a Status one instead.
12. Good point - slightly wider ones with Top jacks would work too. I've never had an Aguilar pedal - I'll listen to some demos.
13. Every bass has a deadspot. It's just more obvious on some than others. It is frequency dependent, and that freq is partly based on construction / weight. If you are lucky the freq will be worst in between notes. Say a C and a 1/4 rather than a C or C#. even Status graphite necks have them - it's just due to the construction they tend to be higher up the board where you don't notice as much.
14. My rig is now based around my Helix, but sometimes I don't want to take my rack. So I want to put together a Pedal Train Nano (classic version) I'm looking for ideas for mini versions of Compressor (subtle and squashy ideally) Envelope filter (ideally something that sounds as good as the MXR) Drive (quite flexible - I'll be using my Darkglass amp so I have some built in already) and maybe one other. something fun / quirky maybe. I have already tried the Xotic SP compressor and didn't like it - but other than that I'm open to all suggestions. It will be powered from a Rockboard XL battery pack, so I'm hoping to avoid digital pedals if I can to maximise battery life.
15. Andertons have recently sold all Mex P basses at £594. The maple board ones still are that price. the rosewood board ones are now £613. I wonder if we will see increased prices even when the other models swap to Pau Ferro.
16. Bump! Cmon guys! I really really really need to buy a Precision bass. Can't do it until this goes! I would consider a trade for a Fender MIM precision - as long as it's black. Not that fussed about the fingerboard as I like both rosewood and maple.
17.
Really liked the look of the SRH505 until I saw this in the specs... "16.5mm string spacing" Ugh. Far too cramped.
The BTB series is 19mm. But I feel your pain - I'd love a SR but I can't cope with 16.5mm either.
18. Future have pretty much ruined Guitarist too. Many old readers on the fretboard forum (that forum coming from the death of the Intermusic and Musicradar forums) don't bother anymore and switched to "Guitar and Bass" instead.
19. ThorpyFX Fallout Cloud. Active EQ and great for mental or low fuzz.
