  1. Afternoon!
  2. I'm pretty matched in speed whether pick or fingers. I was a Sheehan / Harris fan boy for decades. But some tunes just sound better to my ears with a pick, especially those that could do with a bit of palm muting. I can mute with my right hand when playing fingers but it sounds very different to palm muting.
  3. I get mine from Amazon mainly. i always used to use String Busters But I wouldn’t risk them now
  4. I gig everything I've owned. I also buy good insurance.
  5. I like the idea. I've got a Uke bass but the rubbery strings are a bit crap, especially when I sweat. I'd like to try one. £400 is a bit steep for a travel bass though so it would have to be very good.
  6. I'd like to see Billy Sheehan instead of Adam Clayton
  7. I've got the Clayton books and they are very good I also use exam board sight reading tests for double bass - just ignoring bow use. Like this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1848493584/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's good practice and because it's graded it's easy to go back a step when I've been a bit slack! The examples are quite short - couple of staves but the time and key signatures change with every one so it keeps the brain working.
  8. Couple of weeks ago I received an email asking about a magic booking... This is it. I have not edited it. At all. "Ayo wagwan b holla at me with you bbm pin eint I looking for a sick magical party with the mandem like playing pin the shank on the donkey and real life pinata" I have no clue.
  9. If Talkbass was as relaxed as here this place probably wouldn't have existed in the first place. There's a proper community spirit here.
  10. Deleted the vid? Blimey. All the comments were against the idea, not the OP!
  11. It doesn't actually sound like Geddy's note choices at all.
  12. Lovely. Treat yourself to some Hipshot Ultralites and it will help with the neck dive. EDIT - I've just seen the back. Got pretty small tuners already. Ultralites probably won't help enough for the money.
  13. Amazing pedal. it eats batteries like a bastard though. Can get through a 9v in A couple of hours if it’s on all the time. It needs proper power.
  14. Play the pieces. Understanding them develops automatically with that.
  15. I've had one from these guys: http://www.originalscratchplates.com/ It's great.
  16. Yup. But there's also no doubt they could reduce prices by 50% if they were building them in Iowa rather than paying New York rent levels. Vinny said as much in an interview in Bass Player several years ago.
  17. I imagine the sock placement is partly to do with easy of sitting position. A side mounted jack can get in the way.
  18. A good compressor. At the moment it would be a Cali76 Compact Bass, but that could change. I would have picked the dUg pedal if the compressor could have been on without the rest of the pedal being activated. The compressor in it is nowhere near the Cali, but it would have been more versatile overall.
  19. Barefaced Two10.
  20. Where’s the “I don’t use compression but I’m aware the PA / sound guys adds some” option.
  21. I had the comfort strap and upgraded to the Neotech Mega bass strap. Very wide, very comfy. I’ve got them on all my basses now.
  22. Empty. So stick a regular cab in it and then explain about what the IR should be in the description.
  23. One of my favourites by Eric Arko, an Iron Maiden patch that doesn't use any amps. Or cabs! https://uk.line6.com/customtone/tone/3647441/
  24. I've set up a thread for the Patch Library
