  1. I don't seem to be playing my long scales at all so I'm giving serious thought to selling my Sandberg TT4 to fund a Nordy. The 'Berg is a beautiful bass but if I'm not using it then it's not really suiting a purpose other than being a dust magnet!
  2. I really wanted one when they first came out. Never did get one though. Cant even remember what they sounded like!
  3. I think it’s an old Warwick head
  4. Thank you, kind sir. I was hoping for narrower. Maybe I'll have to give in and try one of the Nordy ones. I think they are 17mm at the bridge.
  5. Anyone got one of those cheap Gretsch shorties? What is the bridge string spacing please? I can't see that info on the website. ta.
  6. Not if you fill it with cement. Ironically that would have been a far better choice in the first place rather than mixing cabs.
  7. It's clearly been looked after well. Funnily enough - while I enjoyed that 37 inch Low B, I'm mainly playing shortscales now!
  8. Another vote for Uptown Funk. But for the love of dog, play it on a 5 string so it has the low end booty. Playing an octave up ruins it. Runaway Baby is another great high energy tune from Mr Mars. Dua Lipa is a great shout too.
  9. I think someone on the fretboard forum was looking for one.
  10. I don’t need another one, I don’t need another one….
  11. I am currently playing my dirt cheap (well - before my mods!) Jim Deacon P bass. I'm really liking the narrow string spacing at the bridge. The other shorties I have use normal 19mm to 20mm spacing at the bridge so the neck splays from the nut quicker than it would on a long scale. I quite fancy looking for other shorties with narrower spacing at the nut. I think the Deacon is about 16.5 mm. Does anyone know if they did a Jazz version? I'd like to have that option if I can find one somewhere.
  12. It just works perfectly at every setting without compromise. It's multiband. There's no volume dip and swell. It has an astonishingly low noise floor even at high settings. It allows the natural sound of the bass through - as clean as the Empress I had. I suppose that last thing could be a turn off for some if they want a compressor to change the tone a bit, but for me it's an advantage. When I have some funds I'm going to buy another one so I don't have to swap it between my pedalboards.
  13. I sold all my other compressors when I got a Boss BC-1X. I no longer own an Empress Mk1, Cali76, DG etc. That new Boss has been a revelation.
  14. Well, it certainly improves the grabby-ness! I used 3000 wetndry. I may give it another go with 1500 though to make a little more rough.
  15. I really like the tone of La Bella Deep Talkin' Flats. I don't like how they feel grabby on my right fingers if my hands are even slightly sweaty. This also seems to happen with other highly polished flats. Others, such as Ti, chromes etc don't have that problem. Instead of using fast fret or talc, I'm thinking about getting some really fine wet & dry paper and roughing the surface up a little where I would pluck the strings to see if that makes a difference. If I do that really gently I am hoping I won't weaken the string and make it more likely to break.
  16. I had a Tecamp - I found it to be very clean in tone and I like a bit more warmth. A very good amp, but definitely with a neutral sound.
  17. You could get a used Ashdown RM800 Evo2 for that. The fan (on mine anyway) is very quiet, and it's very light. I really like mine!
  18. The band I'm currently in - yes. I don't run the band, I just play so I wasn't dealing with it. But a bit of the stage collapsed and somebody broke an ankle.
  19. The venue will have it. And if the venue can argue that it wasn't their fault they will try to pass that onto the band instead. The Venue's insurance does not cover negligence by the band. Denials of liability on the grounds that the actual negligent act was due to another person / entity is extremely common. Examples are: Venue not responsible for actions of bouncers that are provided by a security company. Venue not responsible for food poisoning when the food was provided by a catering company. Insurers do not cover anyone other than their own policyholders. The venue insurers will act in the best interests of the venue, and usually that means against the band. The other reason for it - if the band think the venue are at fault, then the band's insurance will push liability to the venue. They have the money to do that. The band alone usually does not.
  20. A new release of Oscar Peterson Trio - Live in Lugano, from 1964. Was released last week. His estate have put all the tracks up on youtube. Ray Brown is on the bass.
  21. There’s no tapered ones listed on their site, so I suspect they don’t exist.
