1.
With these it is possible to plug it in whilst using it? As in, use it like a traditional power supply?
Some but not all. The Rockboard LT XL will - I have one of them. And it's only about £45 too. It's very good. http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/RockBoard-by-Warwick-Power-LT-XL-Lithium-Ion-Rechargeable-Battery/1FV7
2.
Scott Devine has done a wee review of this on his youtube channel. Very different from the other DG pedals. I like it!
It's got a real hint of the Pearce type grind in the mids.
3. On hold for Crispin until he can get over to try it.
4. I went cheap last time as I needed a beach pair. I got some Soundmagic ones and was frankly astonished. Definitely worth trying.
5. Or the Helix which has just had a massive bass heavy firmware update including a B7KU model with all the switches.
6. I've got the Rockboard LT XL It's ace.
7. Bump. The new neck was over £400 (inc fitting) alone!
8. I'm looking for a Scratchplate for a 2005 5 string Stingray - but without any holes in it (or only screw holes) WD Music - USA - will make me one, but it would be pretty expensive. I did think about Tim / Scratch-It as I have 1 of his already, but his are clear with a photobacking and I want something more traditional this time. Anyone got any ideas?
9.
Just travelled 140 miles to purchase a Spector gig bag listed on Bass Directs website. Got there only to be told very rudely "not had them in 3 months" So why are they available to purchase via the website. I stood awkwardly while Marcus & assistant tit tattled about when one was last sold like children. Frankly Marcus seems like a very spoilt, downright rude person who has no people skills, no idea how to treat customers and has no idea how to run a business or a website. I highly recommend taking your money elsewhere, especially if you're looking to buy a new instrument. The Gallery in Camden or Bass Gear are both very friendly and will offer you a brew and a chat. Marcus will offer nothing but awkward silences and rude remarks.
So the first bit of this wasn't really accurate then? Giving the impression of an entirely wasted trip because of the bag, when in fact you went looking for other stuff too. Either it was a wasted trip or it wasn't. Can't be both. Agreed that Marcus has no people skills, but I find Mark to be great. Top service whether I've bought a bag or a whole new rig.
10. Wasnt' the C the one that was loaded into a combo?
11. Driving 140 miles when the site says "Out of Stock" Mmmmm. I won't even make a special trip to the PMT in my own town without calling first - even if the site says it is in stock. Even the big guys struggle to properly display real time stock levels.
12. I leave the B3K element active even when I'm playing clean. Drive low - about 2 ish, but with the blend over halfway. It's clean but with an edge. I really like what it does to the sound. Even in big band / motown / film score type things. Sounds great!
13.
Regretfully it will never happen. Finding enough basses that are identical in every way possible except the body wood is rather unlikely. Lozz did a similar test of rosewood and maple necks, at the Herts Bass Bash. The rosewood neck basses were consistently more punchy than the maple neck ones. But that, of course, was pure coincidence.
It's a easier than you think. Whatever you want to be the variable, just change that. Swap bodies but move over all the hardware and strings and measure pickup heights etc to be identical. If comparing necks - then even move the tuners and string retainers over and bolt to the same body for the test.
14. 3 piece is the best. Allows space rather than a wall of sound, gives great bass freedom. In a 3 piece a shift from root note stuff to something more melodic has a far greater impact to the feel of a tune. More room on stage, and fewer people to split the money with.... but also fewer people to pay for expenses. 3 piece (or 3 musos and a singer ) is my favourite set up.
15. Helix not for sale!! More photos to come. 8ohm Mono 2x12 cab, loaded with H Creambacks. I've had this about a year, and it's only been used in the house. New cost would be about £525 now Empty cab at £290, two G12H-75 Creambacks at £95 each and £20 for casters, and £25 for the 3 piece back so it can be used closed or open back. Removing the panel really does change the sound quite a bit. It is in very good condition, and comes with some free dust! £375 collected from Northants. No trades as I'm swapping over to FRFR powered kit for the Helix. ta
16. Bump. A change of gig means I'm not looking for any trades anymore. Unless you've got a Yamaha DXR10 lying about!
17.
Is it possible to have a rack-mounted wah effect (say in a multi-fx) and run a single 3-conductor cable to a controller pedal out front?
Dunlop make a rack wah. Pricey though.
18. Interestingly Peach Guitars are saying that Reidys are using it as a sales ploy and that the Fender Professional Series and AVRI will still have rosewood but the mex, elite, etc won't.
19. https://www.reidys.com/blog/rosewood-no-more-fender-cites-1901/ Pau Ferro is a lovely wood to use instead, but no doubt the rosewood ones will sell out fast now.
20. Partly they wanted to get a newer lightweight design with less compromises, like poor upper fret access... And there were rumours of a bit of pressure from Fender. But there are hundreds of jazz clones so I'm not too sure about that. But the change has been really popular- they used to take custom orders but now they don't have capacity. They've installed a second production line just for retail demand! Try the new shape. It balances better, it's lighter, and just more comfy.
21. TBH for this use I'd just use a smart phone and the free version of Amplitude. I use a L6 Sonic Port as my interface and it works great. With an iPhone it even imports songs from iTunes to play along with. I did buy the extra B15 amp model for about £3 too. Or even one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vox-AP2-BS-amPlug-Headphone-Amplifiers/dp/B00NAUKJTY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491580040&sr=8-1&keywords=vox+amplug+2+bass Only 1 sound really, but sound good.
