Focusing on a small, thus minority, group of people is exactly what Anti discrimination legislation is designed to do. If we didn’t there wouldn’t be wheelchair viewing areas or disabled bogs. This isn’t a “deafness at a gig” issue, this is just a “deafness” issue. We don’t get to get to decide whether deaf people should be allowed to try and enjoy something, even if a hearing person thinks it’s useless. The legislation also references changes that are practical. So for those worrying about open nights or 50 punter pubs having to do this - they won’t. But a big arena show with well resources promotors will have to. As for signing ruining the show for hearing customers, what do you suggest? A separate night for the deaf? Not enough local deaf people in a particular location so do it in a smaller venue with a less impressive stage show at a higher ticket price? That really treating deaf people the same. Swap deaf people for wheelchair users and see how repugnant that would be. Raised platform at Download for wheelchair users ruins an able bodied persons view? So what? I solved my clank in a slightly different way.

Heavier e string might help too, stop you banging it into the frets quite so much.

I swapped to Thomastik traditional strings and used a FIshman Platinum Bass EQ / Preamp straight into the FX return of my amp so it was only the Fishman doing the work. Wasn't perfect, but it was far closer than it had been.

D'addario Super Long Scale should fit. I was using them on a Dingwall and it was only the B at 37 inches that was a bit hit and miss as to whether the main speaking length was going to get over the nut and that was only by a mm or 2. The E was 36.25 and always fit.

My 2 main basses are a Marleaux Consat Custom 5 string and a much modified Stingray 5. At the moment it has an Aguilar 60s wind precision pickup in it. And it’s passive. I have 2 rigs really. Easy transport rig is L6 G70 wireless > Cali compact bass compressor > Digitech bass synth wah > Darkglass Alpha Omega or B3K V2 depending on the tunes. that goes into either a Tecamp Puma 300 or a Darkglass M900 and then to either 1 or 2 Barefaced One10 cabs. Heavy rig is a racked up Helix rack and foot controller. Sometimes used with just the power section of the above heads and cabs and sometimes into a Yamaha DXR10 frfr powered cab. Or straight into the PA. Or into all of it at once and still using the USB to record it all. Im not listing out the details of all the patches I have in the Helix as I’d be here all night!

Is the bridge pickup in the same place for both the 1 and 2 pickup versions?

Measuring from a saddle is a crap idea. Could be massively out depending on string choice. Measure from the nut or the 12th fret.

Don't know - there's lots of people there. A guy called Peter is the over all boss, but then there are dept heads for the various instruments and the like. There's the HQ in town, but then they also run Saturday morning centres all across the county using schools as the venues. I play at one of them every Saturday.

Is there a local Music and Performing Arts Trust? There's one near me in Northants and they are always on the lookout for stuff the kids can use.

Yup. I got my EMGs from them. Even with customs it was cheaper.

I'm just about to order. Going to order via Best Bass Gear in the US as they do free shipping. Going direct from Norstrand would cost another $50 in shipping! I've had other stuff from BBG so all should be good.
