I've got a One-10 and I love it. On it's own I don't think it is enough to cope with a raging drummer - so is anyone using a pair for that purpose? If so - how are you getting on? In my constant battle for weight loss I'm wondering about selling my Bergs and using a pair of One-10 instead.

I had pretty much decided to sell my beloved Ampeg preamp and I took a load of good pictures. I was planning to sell because I'm downsizing in general, and I also find myself needing a guitar amp and need to raise some funds. I hadn't turned it on for months so I wanted to make sure all was working perfectly before I listed it. I plugged it into the FX return of my little Puma 300 and just into a Barefaced One-10. Power amp and cab far removed from the Ampeg ethos of everything being massive. It sounded amazing. I'm actually really annoyed for 2 reasons. Firstly I was only checking everything was working and I did really want to sell it. Secondly - Ampeg - FFS!!!! - take the tube preamp design and add a good Class D power amp! The power units are so small these days the whole thing could probably fit in a 1u box. I've been reading the Class D / "Heft" arguments with interest and I'm beginning to wonder how much of an influence an older style preamp would have with a Class D power amp, even if the weight went up a bit. The Demeter I just sold had that approach and was stunning (my favourite amp I've ever owned), but I was still surprised to discover that assembling the same concept with a standalone old fashioned Preamp and a Class D power amp had a very similar outcome, especially when the preamp was designed when Class D wasn't available for instrument amps. Unfortunately I don't have the technical knowledge to begin to explain - but I can certainly hear more weight / heft just with using the ampeg rather than the Puma's own preamp. Still, the Ampeg has gone back into the "don't sell it" pile, and now I have to find sale items in the stupid pedal collection instead.
In purely financial terms, yes - both cost about the same (i.e. about £1300 new). But in terms of build quality they are not on a par at all - the TT leaves the Am Standard in the dust. And the TT will be infinitely customisable - any colour combination you like, blocks, dots or plain fretboard, your choice of fingerboard wood, matched headstock if you want, etc etc etc ...
Fully agree. I only sold mine because I'm only playing 5 strings now.

2 X VANDERKLEY EXT112 OR BERG CN212????
What amp are you using?
Tecamp Puma and until Owen bought it, a Demeter head. I found the Bergs had a bit more character to them than the Vans. I think a super clean amp with the Vans would be a bit soulless. -
Selling a Hipshot Ultra-lite D tuner HE6C It is the larger of the 2 sizes - the 11/16 suitable for Fenders / Stingrays etc. You'll need your own low profile screw because I have no idea where it went. These seem to be about £90 new (as per Axesrus site) so I'm after about £60 ish including delivery in the UK ta

Sandberg California TT4 Lovely things.

Used Roland Cube 30. Works great with a low B. I now have a tiny Barefaced One10 and Puma head which actually weighs less than the Roland, but I can't bring myself to sell it. It's too good.

Imperial! Bah. Right, I'll re measure with the wrong side! -
Owen just bought my wonderful Demeter amp head. Easy and pleasant all the way.

The original Ibanez Weeping Demon has some similar controls and the effect is a bit stronger too. I've had both and I thought the EBS was a bit too polite for me, and the RRP is taking the piss. The Ibanez is massive though.

I've got a 300 and it's been brilliant. No drama

I have a Hipshot D-tuner that I bought ages ago and never used. I'm going to sell it (I have paid my subs - this is not a sale thread), but I can't work out which specific model it is. It's definitely a "C" for clover, but the rest of the model name??? Any ideas ta
How would it be with a Demeter head?
It's brilliant! Has that lovely lower mid sort of thing going on. (Depending on EQ settings of course) You know like a proper DB doesn't actually have a huge amount of genuine bass but the lower mids are really rich and full of detail - that. The One10 is my first choice cab for anything remotely orchestrally / old RnB / Motown.

I don't think the Barefaced One10 could cope with a loud drummer on it's own. But I'd love to see what a pair of them could do. I really like mine. Sounds very different to my Bergs. Different tools for different jobs and all that. It's not a cheap item for such a tiny thing and I hadn't tried any BF cab before, so I was a bit nervous about dropping the money on what I perceived as a practice cab - but it is brilliant.

I wouldn't say a Berg 2x12 was a small rig! I use a pair of Berg 1x12 and they are great - and I can take just 1 if I need it. For tiny stuff though (no drums) I use a Barefaced One-10. Amazing little cab.
