For Sale: Boss SY-1 Synth pedal - *SOLD*
fretmeister replied to fretmeister's topic in Effects For Sale

I have a keyboard synth now so this is going unused. It's great fun and it tracks very well. It's far less fiddly than the App based synth pedals. No need to get your phone out for adjustments! The previous owner took the rubber bottom off to put velcro on, but the rubber bottom is included with the box for it can be refitted if necessary. All works as it should. I'm looking for £105 including insured Special Delivery in the UK. Thanks

12 year thread bump has to be a record!

It’s easier to dial out the colour. There’s a setting in the manual that even with the blend at 100% it sounds very close to just a pass through. I think it’s called the “Jaco” suggestion. Doesn’t sound anything like Jaco!

That’s my view. We all play better when we are comfortable. What increases comfort is different for all of us. Scale length, string tension, nut width, neck shape, pick or fingers etc etc. Some piz DB players have a low action to use the board as a ramp so it’s hardly new.
-
Some people think that about compressors.
-
The stop fingers digging in too far. They can allow a more even attack. You kind of draw your finger across the surface of the ramp and the string is just in the way. I tried them years ago when I discovered Billy Sheehan putting epoxy on his P pickups to make a ramp surface and I really liked them. At about 3mins10secs you can see

Bit of an update to my Nano+ board. The SFT is set for an old pushed B15 / early SVT sound just for harmonic richness. Bass knocked down a bit. Barely audible drive like The Blues Brothers “She caught the Katy” tone. The Paradriver is set for more of a rock tone with more lows and more drive. I’ve never had a Paradriver before and I’m much preferring it over the BDDI.

Mine is a bolt onto my gear insurance. It’s about an extra £30. But I’m also an Equity member.

More information on this rare Yamaha Attitude Bass
fretmeister replied to VoodooChild's topic in Bass Guitars
There were some Attitude Specials or Plus models that were PJ with no mudbucker at the neck. I had a 5 string version. I suspect this might be one of those that has been stripped of paint and refinished and had the pickups changed. The neck joint looks right. 600 seems a bit high though. I can’t remember fully but I think I paid a lot less for the 5 string. Mine was like this, but with a 3 way instead of the scratch plate knob. -
Recommend a modern lightweight amp for vintage tone
fretmeister replied to ossyrocks's topic in Amps and Cabs
The RM is a good head but I still use a T21 Paradriver to get a more vintage type tone with it. -
What is your budget? Might find something better suited if we know that. Would you consider a used cab?

Dusty Hill's basses being auctioned

1: Laziness 2: Because he was already making over 100% profit on whatever he took the bass in for. Just like every other pawnshop. -

Nonsense. The Pawn Shop owner could have looked it up himself. It's not like the info is hidden. -
I have thought about putting ramps on top of pickups before. Say on a humbucker that was in the perfect place for my fingers. Even if the pickup had a smooth top and could get close enough to the strings the top would still be flat and the strings would be at different heights relative to the pickup. So a small ramp matching the radius would be great. For exposed pole pickups it could even cover those too. However - my woodworking skills are rubbish and I don't have a 3D printer!

What about the Pawn Shop? If they were selling it for $70 then they gave some poor sod under half that. -

What are you listening to right now?
fretmeister replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
I recently discovered Royal Republic. I seem to be repeatedly listening to their Bloodstock set. It's got an incredible mix! All Kemper modelling units for the 3 out front. Nice bit of Keytar too! -
Task specific equipment always beats general stuff. You need 8GB of RAM just to write a letter in Word using a PC. But the moon landing guidance system only needed 128K of ROM. A digital pedal can't run Word and it doesn't need to, or any other general use. It only needs to do 1 thing exceptionally well.
