1. Jimmy bought my Fishman Platinum Pro-EQ bass preamp. Great comms, paid fast and let me know it arrived ok. All good!
2.
80 lb (36.2 Kg) apparently, according to the OP on TB.
That's impressive. I used to run a pair of Marshall VBC412 cabs - they were 110 lb each. Never again!
3. Quarter Pounders for me. Nice and chunky.
4. I was thinking of a tuner, compressor, envelope filter and drive - all on a Pedal Train Nano. Are there any Multi FX that are smaller?
5. I think I'm going to put together a mini board to try and get the whole thing as light as possible. Obviously I'll need to buy some small pedals. Oh well!
6. Take off 1 tuner (including the bushing) and weigh it. Then you can compare with the Hipshot weights. Ibby tuners are quite light anyway, they may not be light enough to make a difference you want to pay for. On a trad bass with big plate tuners swapping to Ultralites can save half a pound on a 5 string!
7. I can play DB a little bit - but I'd never get one in the house or the car (at least not with the kids in it as well). I'll have to start seeing what I can offload.
8. I don't have to think if I get a piano score. Pesky pianos go to deep for a 4.
9. Talk me out of getting into serious marital trouble... I have severe gas for an MB2. DB sound, 6.5 lb... Surely there is something negative about them? Please!!!!!!
10. If I swap basses I hear the clear difference immediately. If I swap cables I don't hear a difference. A Precision will sound like a precision through any amp or cable. The very best a passive cable can do is to let the signal through as cleanly as possible. It cannot improve the signal. To claim otherwise is audiotardery. Changing from rounds to flats causes a far bigger change than cables!
11. Gigrig Power Generator system. http://www.thegigrig.co.uk/generator-c2x15357206
12. Finally used mine in anger with a Puma 300 head and a Marleaux Consat Custom 5. Orchestra rehearsal this morning. Tunes included Pink Panther, Peter Gunn Theme, How deep is your love, Batman theme etc The little cab didn't miss a beat. Sounded clear and powerful, and the low B was stunning. Very very pleased!
13.
I guess Drunk Rugby Fans = Profit and that's all that landlady cares about, instead of credibility with bookings etc
Considering the crap income levels of most pubs these days if they didn't care about profit then they won't be there much longer anyway. Did you have a contract that allows you to get part payment in the event of a late cancellation?
14. A great sound at 7.5lb is certainly making me think about getting out my wallet.
15.
Hello! They're Precision flats.
Thank you. I fancy trying some.
16. WOT, which flats are they please? I see GHS have different types. Sounds lovely.
17.
According to the website, my Rob Allen MB2 is approx 6.5lbs. To be honest, it feels lighter.
I really want to try one of those!
18. hipshot ultra lites do that. Don't know about other brands.
19. GHS Pressurewounds are a lovely in-between string. They are rounds that have been squeezed to flatten the windings.
20. Is it any better than the tiny Planet Waves clip on?
21. I'd still like to know the actual compression, attack and release numbers. I saw on TB that Doug said he hadn't actually calculated them yet! Was that not part of the design process?
