1. I'm a big fan of the Mark Bass CMD 201P combo. Great amp. But I'd also recommend trying the Tecamp Classic 2x12 combo (500W). I just got my first Tecamp head (a Puma 300) and it is superb.
2. Sale of Goods Act Section 14(ii)(a-d) Must be fit for the purpose and reasonably durable. Doesn't seem to meet either of those requirements. It's 4 months old so it falls into the category of you should be able to get a refund as the repairs have failed.
3. Forgot to say... Handles the low B on my EMG loaded Stingray5 with ease. It's been a Motown day!
4. I wondered who beat me to that Jazz. Git! 1st refusal if you sell please.
5. Just did a part-x deal with Brian. He now has a Streamliner 900 and I have a Tecamp Puma. Good all the way But above all he managed to make my kids do their homework! Pleasure to meet you.
6. Could you get the sound you want without the cabs just using the Sansamp kit - so the FOH has "your" sound, and then you can put up a not quite as perfect on stage sound from your cabs just as your personal monitor?
7. Bass / Guitar / Piano ideally. Anyone? Could you email me? I need to muck about with the arrangement for some students. Ta

Rob
Thank you! I fancy having a go at this.
9.
Lovely looking but what is the round thing just below the bridge - a reflection or a stuck on pick holder? Thanks
Looks like a reflection of the light fitting in the room to me.
10.
Also , can I buy an amp head and just use it with headphones? (Assuming it has a headphone socket) If i can do that then it means I have the tone options that i would gety with a combo through headphones but without the size taken up by the speaker
Many modern ones allow you to use them without a speaker - but some older amps still insist on a speaker being connected, even though it's not in use. So do check.
11. Of the new little Cali models - there is the bass specific model with the High Pass Filter, but that leaves you without separate Attack and Release controls. However - there is another model (not called "bass") that doesn't have the HPF but does have separate attack and release. It also still has a blend control. I'm wondering if the non-bass specific one might be a better choice for me.
12. I can't see them doing it properly like the good old "Bassist" days. Just not enough money in printed mags anymore, hence 5 pages of adverts for every 1 page of actual journalism.
13. Sadowsky do their onboard preamp in a little pedal box.
14.
I've heard that the battery operated headphone amps don't have a very log battery life. Do they do mains versions? Sounds like a better idea for you.
They tend to be rechargeable. The Phil Jones has a good rep. I get a couple of hours out my iphone and longer out of an ipad.
15. If you have an iphone then just get the free Amplitube and pay for the Ampeg B-15 model. Sounds great with headphone. Amplitude will also let you play along to your iTunes library on the phone. I use mine all the time for playing along / learning stuff.
16. Here's a difficult question for you lot... Which smaller compressor, The Cali, The Ego, The Warden, etc sounds most like the Empress? I love my Empress but it's quite a big unit and I love the idea of going smaller. ta
17. I suppose there is this http://www.hotoneaudio.com/products/nanolegacy/74.html It sounds pretty good too http://www.youtube.com/watch?t=3&v=uKgbOp6Gd5g
18. $25 is £16.20 ish. Plus vat = £22 ish. Seems like Avid reduced the base price to lower the impact of the vat to get it down to £19.99
19.
I'd suggest a Barefaced One10 and a separate amp.
I'm loving mine. But the Roland Bass Cube 30 is still a stunning little amp. I'll never sell mine.
20.
All of the above specific points re pain and fatigue are of course 100%. However, amongst some folks there is what is to my mind an unjustified mystique surrounding lighter-weight basses in general, that is that all other things being equal the lighter the bass the higher the quality, which I seriously doubt is the case (as a Wal owner I have to say that don't I)
I loved the Yamaha Attitude 3 I had. Sounded amazing and was built as well as any other bass out there. But it was 12lb. Couldn't cope with that at all.
21. I don't care how awesome a bass sounds if it is heavy enough to harm my back Even if I buy from a box shifter like Thomann I email them and ask them to unpack the box and weigh it. If they won't then I don't buy. To be fair Thomann will do that. Playing comfort (including balance) comes first. I don't want to get to the end of a gig and feel like I've been in a fight. Even over a 1 hour standing performance the difference in battle-weariness is noticeable with only a 1/2 pound weight difference.
