They became Tecamp, and now became Eich.

Been playing more with it. Got a lovely GK sound going for that Duff tone, and experimenting with the Particle Reverb model in parallel with a delay for some Manring inspired ethereal noises. I've also been making loads more guitar patches. I tend to write on guitar rather than bass, but I haven't been this active for years.

Calling all NS Design NXT owners - your experience please!
fretmeister replied to Huge Hands's topic in EUB and Double Bass
The amp needs to have a 1 MegOhm input otherwise the pickup doesn't work efficiently. Some amps I've owned do have 1Meg inputs, but others have been 500K and the difference is massive. I used to use a Fishman Platinum Bass preamp to solve those issues. Worked very well indeed. They've been discontinued so you'll have to look used. But they still shift at about £75 -

+1 on the Clayton books and this one too: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Simplified-Sight-Reading-Bass-Josquin-Pres/dp/0793565189 I was in the same position a few years ago. I could play any Billy Sheehan / Johnny Rod type bass shred you could suggest. But if you asked me to sight read the bass part on a U2 tine I couldn't do it. I joined my daughter's orchestra group and felt like a beginner again. I was completely lost. Now I can sight read a bit and can join in far more easily on the new tunes without being the person to say "err, I'll learn it by ear for next week."
I'd love to be able to even just rehearse with a 1x10! Jealous.
Join a mostly woodwind jazz band.

Selling a Dunlop John Petrucci wah pedal. This is based on the rack wah system in that it has internal trim pots for level, 5 band EQ and output levels. It is very versatile and with the EQ can be set up for any instrument with ease. It is currently set at the factory settings (Petrucci's own settings) and it is signed by the man himself! Full details are here: http://www.jimdunlop...trucci-cry-baby These things are a whopping £189.99 new. Selling at £150 including delivery (it is heavy) in the UK Collection from Northants is also welcome. ta
Ouch. Well that's understandable. Hope you're OK!
I'll find out in about a month whether I need No 4. I'm getting quite bored with getting cut open. Although the scarring is beginning to look like a treasure map!
This is the first I've heard of tolex peeling since we changed adhesive last spring/summer. Very disappointed to hear it's occurred and that we haven't been directly told about it, especially as it happened after such a short time. Hopefully it's a rare case because since we launched the One10 we've sold a lot of cabs from the 10CR range which are all tolexed. The way the tolex is wrapped is the standard way of doing it, one piece around the sides, top, base and into the baffle, with a separate piece for the back - inspect 95% of tolexed bass cabs and you'll see the same seam arrangement. Guitar cabs are different because the rear panel is usually removable or missing. The adhesive we use is specifically made for tolex so this problem surprises and worries me!
I suppose I could have mentioned it directly, but I had more important things to worry about - I've had 3 operations in the last few months. The cab sounds brilliant and when funds allow I will be buying another. It hasn't put me off.

20 songs for an audition is taking the piss. That sounds like getting you ready for a 1 gig dep job without admitting it.

Sonicport and free Amplitube / Mobile Pod etc and a smartphone. Amplitube will import iTunes songs for playing along too.
I'd definitely mail Alex and see what he has to say about it. When I was inspecting the One10 I saw that back panel piece and thought, 'that's not the way to apply Tolex - it should be done in one continuous piece and the seam hidden at the base of the cab'. You can see the piece in question in my picture of the Speakon lead, above. I found the same thing when I applied Tolex to a BFM cab I made, I didn't have a long enough piece (fnarr) to go all the way round so I cut out a patch and stuck it on afterwards. Needless to say, even with super-strong glue it was a problem - obviously the edges will catch in use and eventually lift. It's not a difficult repair, but obviously you don't want to be working on a cab you've only had for a month.
It happened after a month. Now the cab is about 6 months old.

I've got hipshots on everything that used to have big plate tuners. On a 5 string fender or EBMM it saves a full half-pound. All at the neck end. Makes a massive difference.
-
About a month. It's the rear panel piece. The edges have all lifted. I've had it for a few months now but I can't be arsed to complain and at the mo it's the only cab I have so I can't spend the time sending it back.

New nickel allergy? Different strings with higher nickel content?
And largo, I'm with you on the tolex. It looks about a million times better than the painted cabs. If this tolex was all over the other cabs part from the Retro series I think they'd sell better. Aesthetics count.
My tolex is peeling off mind you. Somewhat annoying.

Selling or trading (items listed below) this lovely Japanese Charvel So Cal. It's in good condition with a little ding on the front - as seen in the 2nd photo. It is all stock and comes with the hard case and the whammy bar, and a little clamp thing that can be mounted to the back of the headstock to store the allen keys. (I haven't fitted it) The hardcase has a few marks on it, but no actual damage. Collection from Northants please £425 ono EDIT: Possible trades are: Tecamp Puma 500 Barefaced One10 cab Cash adjustment as necessary

I prefer playing with fingers. But sometimes a pick works better. It's all part of the tool box.
