Line 6 Bass POD XT (rack) - anyone running one?
fretmeister replied to NancyJohnson's topic in Effects
I sold one a few years ago that I ran for ages. It was still going strong. -
Different email address, another 7 day trial.

Thinking of getting a 1x12 cab but which one?
fretmeister replied to Linus27's topic in Amps and Cabs
If you can find a One10T then you get the adjustable tweeter as well. I never used to use tweeters at all, but since I got one I've left it on at about halfway. It just seems add a little complexity to the sound, and not just treble. -
The EBS is one of the few that I have never tried. Now I have GAS. Damn you all.
-
Yes. I have no idea about the TV Licence legalities for only streaming though.

It's a shame they didn't go all the way and make a competitor for the Waza-Air.
-
Before. For some of the sounds it needs to track the peaks and troughs of the input signal and a compressor would reduce them.

Yeah.... about that.... Err..... I hope you take soul crushing, world ending disappointment with a smile.

Different tone really. Not better or worse. -

Another vote for a used Barefaced. The Super Compact is excellent, but don't be blinded by the 1x12 requirement. The BF One10 (1x10) performance exceeds pretty much everybody else's 1x12 by some margin, and you could get a used one for £250-£275 if you are patient. You might even find a pair for about £500 if you are lucky. Then you've got a really flexible modular rig. The One10s only weigh about 7kg. One 10 – Barefaced Audio https://barefacedaudio.com/collections/10cr-bass-cabs/products/one_10 That's their old website that they've left up. -
When some BCers say they're not much cop at bass.....

I'm amazing. If you want a great slap solo in in the middle of a Leonard Cohen tune, performed with an avant garde approach to so called traditional time keeping, then I'm the best! -
That's a very good point. The BDDI / Paradriver etc is a single effect and is £300 these days.

£1900 UK price. Not a chance.

I think it's a great idea. I only ever take a Nano+ board and all but 1 space is permanently spoken for (tuner, compressor, drive, octave, HPF underneath). The last space gets swapped around to whatever I need for the gig, but that can lead to compromises. Filter / another drive / phaser / synth etc. The HX One would let me keep the board as it is all the time and not have any compromises either. I think the price is reasonable too. I don't mean cheap, but the humble Ibby TS9 now costs £120 with zero R&D need, a TS808 is £170! It's still a lot of money but that doesn't mean unreasonable.

My current favourite is the Source Audio Spectrum. It does everything. It sounds great.

that's right up my street! Thank you.

Do you find your playing limited by your tastes?
fretmeister replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
I love some repetitive stuff. I find it mesmerising and creates different emotions to more complex music, which I also love. I can easily start playing, eg, 'Good Times' and then find out hours have passed, lost in that trance. It's like my happy place (Ye gods I sound like a hippy! ) -
GuitarGuitar have them on preoder for £249. It's a lot of money, but I don't think it's expensive compared to other things anymore. There's 100% analogue drive pedals for £400+ these days. World has gone mad / whatever boomer / etc

I've had both and kept the BC-1X. I also found the LMB to be a bit hissy and actually a little whiny too. The BC-1X is the best compressor I've ever used, including Cali76 / Empress / DG etc etc etc. It's magic is the multiband approach behind the scenes. It's definitely impossible to get a bad sound from it. It has not volume pumping that many analogue compressors suffer from, especially with high output pickups. It is very neutral sounding. It just works every time and so farm with every bass. I've got vintage output / tone stuff and mad active stuff. That being said, I did like the LMB-3 a lot and if it wasn't hissy / whiny then I probably would have kept it too. But the BC-1X stays on my board, and I'm planning on buying another one for when I don't want to take my board and I don't want to keep pulling it apart.

You'll make more progress with a proper teacher than you will without. It can be frustrating learning stuff that you think you might never use, but split it into 2 sections: academics and art. You'll be frustrated within a month about slow going with proper lessons... and absolutely amazed how far you've come in 1 year. All knowledge is a stepping stone to playing the things you want to play. Do it properly with sight reading and theory too. That does not have to mean orchestral composition or anything so complex! It opens up so many doors. Not limited to TAB, able to work out a good bass part from a piano score. More paid gigs available. Not wading through 50 websites worth of awful tabs to find one that might be accurate. Being able to play every tune in every key without retuning your bass - transposing on the fly is such a useful skill to have for bands if a singer doesn't have a range the same as the original artist. Never overdo it. Many people try to do a couple of hours in one sitting and that's pretty useless. Doing 5-10 mins per day proper practice is the key. Little and often. It's no different to learning any other language, and if you can speak English being one of the hardest and most confused languages on earth, you can certainly cope with music. I don't know what it's like in Ipswich, but where I am we have an educational trust that supplies music teachers to schools and also has the details of private teachers who take both adult and child students. If there's something like that near to you, then give them a call.

Doubt it would make much difference.

Before I got my Waza Airs I was using a simple interface with my iphone, the free version of the Amplitube app and some wired headphones. I had a Line6 sonic port interface, but there are lots on the market. Amplitube is excellent as even the free version allows a song to be imported and then slowed down while keeping the right pitch. Very useful for practice. -
I think it's stunning and if I had the money I would have ordered one already. They'll build anything with any options.

I’m impressed with my OC-5.

Cheaper including travel? How?
