1. Even when I play in the local orchestra I learn the tunes so I don't have to use the music. I treat it like I was in a rock band again. I never look at it during the performance, eyes on the conductor. I am often surprised that even the Grade 8 players haven't memorised them. Some of them could sight read and transpose at the same time having never seen or heard the piece before. But not remember it after a term of rehearsals.
2.
I think that's a very interesting question! I was a Big Billy Sheehan fan...Mr Big at the Birmingham Institute still rates as one of my all time favourite gigs. However, I've never really had a desire to play like him. I imagine he has inspired many people to play bass but you're absolutely correct, I can't think of a single bass player who seems to have copied his style! Funny that.
I copied it for a long time. Attitude basses, 2 amps the whole lot. Played some Mr Big and Talas tunes in the sets too. Funnily enough my chops aren't good enough anymore, but now I can read music and I couldn't then.
3. Yup - you can run the 1/4 jacks with Cab sims and the XLR without, at the same time. Or the other way round. Why would the price come down? Demand is far higher than supply. Prices never come down in that situation. And don't forget the pound is in the toilet against the dollar now too. The amp models have been tweaked a bit in V2 firmware as well. Definite improvement on the ones I use a lot. It's one of those rare things that I haven't had a millisecond of buyers remorse about.
4. Firmware V2 is out! And it has "Snapshots" which is basically Fractal's "scenes" on steroids. Single stomp within a patch to not only activate a full memory of blocks on/off, but also it can remember 64 parameter changes too! I can't wait to try it!
5. http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2016/06/29/amptweaker-introduces-bass-jr-distortion-pedal-series/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoPcZjKiU84 The guitar pedals are exceptional so I'm quite excited about this.
6. Ash bought my beloved Status Energy. Really fast payment and arrangement of a courier. All good all the way!
7. Ah! I had forgotten about that. My existing Puma is relatively recent and I really like it, so it seems likely that the Eich's will be similar to that.
8. Was the Eich the T-1000 model? I thought they were pretty much identical internally?
9. The Ibanez Chrome Boy Satriani sig models are notorious for the finish coming off. Many unhappy people - as you'd expect for a £10k guitar. If they couldn't get it right at that money... I imagine it would work far better on a carbon fibre body.
10. Anyone got one yet? I could do with a back up to my Puma.
11. Green. Not enough green basses about.
12.
This looks interesting, can the pbass pickups be used at same time as status ones?thanks
On different outputs yes. If you want them into the same amp then you'll need to use a Y cable or a mixer box.
13. Sorry! I've measured it twice - once with the kitchen scales and the other with the bathroom scales with me and without me and used the difference. Quite amazingly they match! 8.6 lb 3.91 kg
14. I can't be dealing with that! Plug in both and get on with it.
15. My 2nd One10 has arrived! Lovely little stack. Rehearsal on Sat morning, then a gig the following Sat. Looking forward to it.
16. I mostly play bass, but kind of by default. These days I prefer to sing, but at the moment I don't have the chance for that very often. I still play a bit of guitar and sax.
17.
Kyle Eastwood - son of Clint
He's a pro bassist and composer. Don't think that counts!
18.
Is that with an EMG replacement for the original PUP , and another in the HH position? Got any pictures? As I was half debating whether to do this to mine - EMG MM PUPs don't seem to have a lot of love , but I'm really interested in how this mod pans out
Here it is

The EMG version of the MM in the usual position and a 40DC at the neck. Vol, Vol, Tone. I'll find a photo tomorrow.
20. I liked my Ray. Now I've gutted it and loaded it with 2 EMGs I love it
21. Bump. I've been asked about the weight - my scales have died but I have some new ones on the way so as soon as they arrive I'll put that info up, hopefully tomorrow.
22. I'd like to hear a proper bass demo too. I love my BSW, but I've always got room for more synths!
23. Are they being loyal to you by getting better? No?
24. I've done a lot of controller assignment stuff. From 1 press swapping amps, turning off chorus and turning on drive pedals and then changing FX parameters all at the same time. Works very well. ANd I've been mixing cab models with direct - that works exceptionally. Very pleased with that indeed!
