1. Bump. Carl Martin and Hardwire have gone. Open to offers on the rest.
2. That's the one! I've also got Clef Tutor (free version) which is a note based quiz against the clock. That keeps the brain going when I'm on the train.
3.
Would you be interested in a G&L Tribute L2500 Carve top as a trade? Cheers
Not my bag I'm afraid.
4.
Any interest in this as a trade? http://basschat.co.u...-ex112-reduced/
If only that had been a CN112 That's what I'm raising money for - I already have 1 and I want a pair.
5. I can't believe this is still here. I remember the magazine review when it came out. The used market really is in the toilet.
6. Bump. I've added a couple of trade options to the original post.
7. I played 4 strings for the first 20 odd years of bass playing, mainly because it took me that long to find a 5 string I actually liked! These days I mainly play with an orchestra (and smaller ensembles) so having the low B allows me to read straight from the bass clef on the piano score. That low B is really important on many pieces. Over the last 3 years or so I've played so much on a 5 that anything else feels very odd now!

9.
Would you be interested in a Yamaha TRB5F?
Thanks for the offer, but I've given up with fretless, particularly with plain boards.
10.
Just wondered if it comes with a Hamster in there with dark glasses p.s. Your timing is dreadful, don't you know its Christmas next week and the wifes birthday two weeks after that.
If it helps I could sell you a lovely Jap P bass bass to go with it - that would be a really awesome present for her!!

13. WITHDRAWN Selling my Mesa Bass Prodigy 4:88 I bought it new, directly from Westside in the last week of July this year. It was £1899.00. It is in perfect condition and comes with the cover. (Only the head is for sale - not the cab or the EUB) It's a big loud amp with huge punch. It easily rattles the windows (and everything else) in my house. Unfortunately I am now only playing in a local youth music trust orchestra group and this amp is far too much for playing with kids on clarinets. For rehearsals I'm using a Bass Cube 30 and I'm only getting a GB Head and the Berg 1x12 out for gigs with the full orchestra. So as much as I love it I can't afford to have it sitting round doing nothing. Full details are here: http://www.mesaboogi...assProdigy.html User manual is here: http://www.mesaboogi...digy_140115.pdf Links to a couple of youtube demos from Mesa and from Bass Club Chicago https://www.youtube....h?v=0b3tgaUcMBc https://www.youtube....h?v=iJKdG5A0tAo Sale and Shipping: On sale at £1550.00 collected from Northants. I have tried to get some UK shipping quotes - all bookings via parcel2go are limited to £200 damage on amplifiers (loss at £2500) so that's no good. Parcelforce won't offer enhanced insurance on Instruments but don't mention amps - I'm waiting on an email for clarification from them about it, but if covered would be about £105.00 UPS want £175.00 to ship fully insured within the UK. So for that reason it is collection only. Trades I've been thinking about stuff I might want to try and pretty much narrowed it down to: EBS Fafner 2 Aguilar DB751 Both of those are available new at the same price as the Mesa's new price, so I'd be up for a straight swap.
14. I got a sight reading app for my iPad. You pick the key and time sig, or allow it to be random and it presents an exercise. You play it, then the machine will play it to you properly! And on my phone I've got a quiz based notation wotsit where you identify notes against the clock. They seem to help.

16. There is no copyright in a circuit design due to the current flow (etc) being required for functionality. That's why the pedal copying guys can do what they like as long as they are not claiming it to be someone elses product.
17. I've got a bit of both I've got a Genz Shuttle 9.2 that I use alone An Ampeg SVP-BSP Preamp that I run into a Genz Streamliner as a poweramp and a Mesa Bass Prodigy 4:88 all valve monster. The Ampeg Pre with a light poweramp seems to be the best of both worlds - it sounds great and isn't too much of a faff. The Mesa is a fantastic amp, it's powerful and punchy and has huge heft - but I play with a local music trust on a Saturday, and like many educational type gigs I have to move rooms a lot (lots of different ensembles). The Mesa needs 4 or 5 minutes warm up time so I can't take that with me as I'd have to do that with every room move. It also has a cooling fan, which is NOT loud by any means.... except when backing up a solo clarinettist or a ukulele player. (Although it has to be said, using the Mesa when playing Handel's 'Sarabande' with a full orchestra is immense!!) So I am thinking about swapping the Mesa for something with an old fashioned solid state power amp.
18. You should always change batteries at the same time. Otherwise the weaker one causes a much higher current draw in the stronger one and kills it much faster. That being said, I reckon strings are the main issue here. It's not necessarily old strings, could be strings with a tone you hate. When I got my Marleaux it had Marleaux strings on it. It sounded bloody awful. There was a spare set, so put them on as well and it was also awful. I was close to selling the bass - then I put my preferred D'addario Pro-Steels on it and it was superb.
