1. Hoax last week, apparently real today. Jeff Berlin has mentioned it too now.
2. The only thing that is certain is that he still won't spell "Brite" properly!!
3. The MXR is great for keeping the low end. I've got plenty of filters but the MXR seems to work best in a band mix.
4. Just bought an Xotic SP Compressor from Pablo. Quick postage, well packed (needed a scythe to get through the tape!) and the pedal is in excellent condition. All good!
5. I have one of those and I love it. Good choice!
6. Larry wasn't a fan of the common Class D power amps. So maybe they are making their own instead. The preamp in the LH500 is pretty small so with a small enough power section that still gives a proper wallop, that would be ace. Might even fit in a 1u rack, like the MB F1. That would have me reaching for my wallet straight away!
7. I'm seriously thinking about ordering one. Anyone ordered anything from Basscentral in Florida before?
8. Just saw this in Larry's FB feed. No details yet, but I'm excited!
9. I've had email chats with Billy Sheehan and Michael Manring. Both lovely people and only too keen to answer questions. I asked BS loads of questions about split signal systems and compression and MM about musical education and composition.
10. I'd love to hear it all again with the pickups swapped around.
11. Genz Shuttle and Streamliner models both work very well with the HD cabs.
12. What a beauty! Just had a look on the Duke site (can't speak german). Which model do you have? The bridge radius looks a bit flat for bow use - is it really for pizz / slap?
13. A full sized Harp? Blimey. They are so heavy that I had assumed when people moved house they just left it there with the bath and the oven!!
14.
I'm confused. If you want a double bass sound, wouldn't it make sense to buy a double bass? I like the sound of some electric uprights, because they sound like electric uprights and it's a nice sound. But if that's not what you want, don't buy one? I have thought about getting an EUB myself (I've played DB for about 5 years now) but the only ones I would want to own are the Yamahas.
Have you tried getting a proper DB in an average car with 2 kids and the driver? I'm currently playing in a local music trust group / orchestra that my kids attend. 2 kids, a clarinet, a sax, my amp & EUB is all I can fit in the car! I got my EUB purely because I don't have room for a DB, in the house or in the car.
15. I have a new one to learn. At xmas I'll be doing my first performance with a bow! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSAd3NpDi6Q
16. I've never bought from Prymaxe. I am now looking at their site. My wallet is quivering in fear.
17. Wow! Great if customs don't flag it on the way in, but if they do.. Currently $209 = £127 + 20% vat = £152 + Parcelforce admin of about £10 = £162 + whatever the shipping is + 4.4% import. So no real USA saving at the mo if it gets caught by customs.
18. Thomann are doing them for £171 with free shipping. That's about £50 under most UK shops. http://www.thomann.de/gb/tech_21_sansamp_character_vt_bass_di.htm
19. Sometimes you can learn as much from the wrong band as the right band. Half of the music learning process is working out what doesn't work for you. But you wouldn't know without trying. And no matter what, it gets you used to playing with other people. So unless the personalities in the band are so bad that you want to kill them all with a chainsaw dipped in alien blood, stick with it and get some valuable experience. To misquote Marilyn Manson "I'm not in love but I'll f*** you 'till someone better comes along." Playing / performing with others sorts out your playing priorities faster than any other method.
20.
fretmeister said: Zoom Hyper Lead on the left Zoom Power Drive (Klon, ahem) on the right. This is very good as a clean / slightly sparkly preamp on a passive bass. Both brilliant pedals in full working order. Some scratches s expected for their age. £80 each or £175 delivered for the pair in the UK ta
