Big band and swing are probably my favourite genres. Currently waiting for postie to deliver the new Cherry Poppin Daddies CD from the US - it's not available in the UK until next year and I won't wait!

[/quote] That interests me too - I have both the GB heads and I like to have a quick starting solid state amp for when I can't use the valve goodness of my Mesa. But since getting the Mesa I'm finding the GB heads a bit lacking. I used to have an original red front Ashdown Mag400H (when they were still made in the UK) and it was a superb amp.

I'm not bothered about dinging the body of mine, but I still worry about dinging the neck.

I really like them too I had them on a fretless which I sold (should have kept the strings!) and they have a lovely deep fundamental tone. I will get more!

I have a TC Harmony Singer and Mic Mechanic I only use 1 at a time! With one set of guys everyone can sing very well, so I don't need the harmony and use the Mic Mechanic But If I'm playing alone with just a guitar then the Harmony Singer is great - it reads the guitar chord and sets your harmony automatically. No need to set an interval. The big secret on both pedals is the TONE switch which is an automatic EQ, de-esser and compressor. The price of the pedals is worth it for that TONE switch alone! Just set your PA to flat and turn on the pedal. Wonderful little thing. Should be illegal to sing without one.

Plenty of room for ear damage with both, but the Mesa just seemed to have more of everything. I need to get it into a proper rehearsal space.

So why haven't the CN112 price dropped too?

I've owned both. I prefer the Sandberg TM5. And the EBMM forum is full of psychos.

It really does suit the Berg CN I only have a 112 at the moment, but I'll be needing another one. Probably this week!

I have no recording gear other than an iPhone! Not sure that would do it justice.

I never go anywhere without a spare amp or a DI! I did hear about the fuse issue on obbm's one, but he also tells me it's been rock solid since. So fingers crossed!

I've never had an all valve bass amp before. It's definitely not a bedroom amp - it likes being would up a bit. And it needs a full 3 minutes warmup before moving from standby to active. So far I've tried it with my Sandberg TM5 (Steel rounds) and my Jap Precision (Flats) and it sounds amazing. The preamp is the most dynamically sensitive amp I've ever used. It picks up everything so I need to start playing cleaner. And I'm really glad I've got a good selection of compressors! Such a thick chunky sound. Totally different to the Genz heads I have. At 250W it's louder than the 900W class D Genz heads too. Unfortunately the guys I could have a blast with are all on holiday for a couple of weeks, so I need to wait before I can get in a room with a drummer.

Dod BiFET Preamp. Great bit of kit - but now only available used. Look on ebay.

Mike Wedderburn (Sky Sports Presenter) plays keys in a pro function band called Jive Honey. Very good they are too. I saw Hugh Laurie's band at the New Theatre in Oxford last year. I've been going to big and small gigs for 25 years, and Laurie's show was the finest gig I have ever been to. It was perfect. I read somewhere that these days he sees acting as a way of funding his music.

I shall have a look at that then! I've got about 30 songs completely written that I've never recorded due to a lack of drums
