I use a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2. Lost of money, but fully isolated and silent. And more to the point - would I be paying for more than £150 worth of batteries over my playing life? Definitely. At about £5 for a Duracell 9V that is only 30 batteries cost. If you really are only going to use 1 pedal, then I'd say the Visual Sound One-Spot. That is a great bit of kit. Massive 1700mA capacity, well made and quiet. The only pedals that it seems to have issues with are Line 6 stomp boxes. Bit noisy on them for some reason.

I know that Fender recently got round to making a 5 string P bass - but who else is making good ones? I really need 5 strings for orchestra use, but I'm loving the sound of my CIJ P at the mo and I'd like to see what is out there. Not fussed about budget limits at the moment, just looking for ideas. ta

I got some Chromes today. Only had half an hour with them so far but I like them much more than the Roto Monels I was using.

I got the album on Saturday. It's a belter! Well crafted pop rock, and it's great fun!

Just another idea - you could use an EMG DC bucker. You could even completely turn the tone down and hide the control in the cavity and not actually rout a hole for a tone control. With the tone off they have a nice smooth deep tone - especially when so close to the neck.

I ordered from Bass Direct and String Busters yesterday. I was quite interested to see who would win the race.... it was a draw. Both deliveries arrived this morning!

I don't think any volume made instrument is a good investment now. There are simply too many of them. It's taken 30-50 years for the early ones to get to proper money. I'd bet 100 to 200 years for a current model. These days I'd think you'd have to take a bet on which small but high quality builder will still be around - with the company surviving the death of the founder. So you can say 'built by the hands of...' So early PRS, Fodera, maybe Huber, Parker before the company was sold. That sort of thing.

Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 / 6.2? Has a serial FX loop. I use mine as a power amp with my Line 6 Pod when I'm playing guitar. I just turn the preamp controls down to zero... and having just looked at the manual, the FX Return is intended to be used as a POWER AMP IN as well.
