1. Marshall ED1 About £50 and brilliant. In fact I'd say you'd have to get close to £150 to beat it. And even then, only by a gnat's...
2.
Good to know but like I say, spending more on the power supply than the pedal seems a bit crazy...!
I'm not sure it is. I use a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2. Lost of money, but fully isolated and silent. And more to the point - would I be paying for more than £150 worth of batteries over my playing life? Definitely. At about £5 for a Duracell 9V that is only 30 batteries cost. If you really are only going to use 1 pedal, then I'd say the Visual Sound One-Spot. That is a great bit of kit. Massive 1700mA capacity, well made and quiet. The only pedals that it seems to have issues with are Line 6 stomp boxes. Bit noisy on them for some reason.
3. I know that Fender recently got round to making a 5 string P bass - but who else is making good ones? I really need 5 strings for orchestra use, but I'm loving the sound of my CIJ P at the mo and I'd like to see what is out there. Not fussed about budget limits at the moment, just looking for ideas. ta
4.
Any updates on how people are getting with this? I have a hankering for one, but it's a lot to shell out on a whim! :-)
Make me an offer for mine! Perfect condition, but with Velcro on the bottom. I'm playing in an orchestra now so it's all super clean sounds and flatwounds!! If someone buys the pedal then I can afford some TI Flats! (The Lomenzo is very different. I've got one of them somewhere. Only drives the mids really. Very odd to me)
5.
Waste of time IMO. They don't sound like a ukulele, they aren't tuned like a ukulele and nine times out of ten, they arent played like a ukulele. At over £400 you could buy a nice second hand fretless that would be much more convincing when playing with a ukulele ensemble. Plus, if you're going to join a ukulele band to play bass lines, just play a bass instead... It'll definitely sound better.
It doesn't claim to be a uke! It's just a uke sized bass.
6. Idiots. As it happens I'm going to rout a little channel in my Jap P bass so I don't have to take the neck off anymore. But the difference is, that is my choice!
7.
Yes? I wrote a 'how to operate your FTIR gas analyzer' guide....i promise you that i didn't fully understand the engineering software langauge behind it though...so it is possible and had guys operating that mother whom couldn't cross the road and chew gum as we used to say......so there is hope.
Sarcasm squire! Sarcasm!
8. I got some Chromes today. Only had half an hour with them so far but I like them much more than the Roto Monels I was using.
9. I got the album on Saturday. It's a belter! Well crafted pop rock, and it's great fun!
10. Just another idea - you could use an EMG DC bucker. You could even completely turn the tone down and hide the control in the cavity and not actually rout a hole for a tone control. With the tone off they have a nice smooth deep tone - especially when so close to the neck.
11. I think the OP has a point. I am personally disgusted that I can't write a book without learning a language. It's just an excuse to oppress me.
12. I ordered from Bass Direct and String Busters yesterday. I was quite interested to see who would win the race.... it was a draw. Both deliveries arrived this morning!
13. Bump! No one brave enough for this awesome instrument then?
14. I don't think any volume made instrument is a good investment now. There are simply too many of them. It's taken 30-50 years for the early ones to get to proper money. I'd bet 100 to 200 years for a current model. These days I'd think you'd have to take a bet on which small but high quality builder will still be around - with the company surviving the death of the founder. So you can say 'built by the hands of...' So early PRS, Fodera, maybe Huber, Parker before the company was sold. That sort of thing.
15. I thought that too. Stock photo perhaps. Unprofessional and lazy. It could, and should, have been a great mag. But I wouldn't let my cat sh*t on it now.
16. Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 / 6.2? Has a serial FX loop. I use mine as a power amp with my Line 6 Pod when I'm playing guitar. I just turn the preamp controls down to zero... and having just looked at the manual, the FX Return is intended to be used as a POWER AMP IN as well. 17. Go and do this course http://www.baileyguitars.co.uk/courses/ Loads of the guys on Music Radar forum have done them, and they've all been superb. Our very own Paul_C got started there too.
18. Not a lot. Headroom mainly. Hartke watts are damn loud as it is.
19. Bump. I would consider part-x trades for cheaper basses with cash my way. Stuff I like includes a Zon Vinny / VB4; BSX Allegro EUB; Sadowsky Will Lee; Marleaux Betra 5; Yamaha Attitude 2 or 3. The only amp related item I would like to own is a Suhr Badger 30 head. Not many of them about anyway!
20. Bulldog Pickups would probably make you one. They seem open to making anything!
21. Best one for me is a cheap one! Danelectro Cool Cat Fuzz. Nice filth and an effective tone control.
22. Playing a Fender would certainly make me angry
