1. I would have said Genz. I didn't get on with my RH750 and I didn't like the MB500 I had for a day.
2. I had a JM / TM4 and I loved the way it played and the sound. But it was massively heavy so it had to go. Definitely one of the best built basses I've ever had though. If it had been 8lb or under it would never have gone anywhere.
3. Pub band or not. If there is no disco / soul / funk / big band in the set list then I'm not playing.
4. What are the options? Obviously there are Dingwall's own Voodoo line (made by GHS I believe). Bass Direct also list 'Payson' strings but their gauges don't seem to match with the Voodoos. I can see a 105 E on the longer scale being having a very unequal tension to the rest. Are there others that will fit? Are there enough owners yet to make D'Addario do a set of extra long Pro-steels?
5. I'm tempted to buy a Lollar pickup now. I've got nothing to put it in, but...
6.
Isn't it the other way around? 6 years in England & Wales & 5 up here. I assumed that the OP bought the amp in England too. He would indeed have to prove that it was a faulty part, an engineer's report does the job.
Nah - the buyer still has the 6 year limitation period, but the upper courts decisions in England and Wales have stuck with 5 years. Engineers reports are great, but as with all expert evidence, often a report can easily show what is wrong - just not when it was wrong. Unless it is obvious that nothing has been done to the inside of the amp at all, therefore allowing a reasonable conclusion that it was like that when it left the factory. Small Claims Court is very low risk though.
7.
In ten years, those fellas who haven't got their bass did nothing, just let the saga roll on? I'd have been at the guy's door a matter or months after any verbal contract had passed its stipulated completion date. The idea of throwing £4k at someone and having nothing to show for it after ten years is surely some kind of fraud? Proving it in court would be another matter.
No idea what the limitation is in the USA, but if that happened in the UK, after 6 years you wouldn't be allowed to go to court. (Possibly the 6 year period starting from the breached date of delivery rather than the point of ordering it)
8. Sounds like the didn't really want to 'audition' you as such. Sounds like they wanted you to have an entire set of material so you could gig the following friday night and they could immediately fire the existing bassist - THEN probably decide on who the proper replacement was. More like a depping gig that an audition.
9. Instead of sending money for any cancellation fee, send them some CDs that aren't in 4/4 time!
10.
No you're not being too picky. However OTO wimping out of an audition with less than 24 hours to go is very bad form. If you were booked into a rehearsal room and the terms are anything like they are here in Nottingham then the band you should have been auditioning for will have just lost at least 50% of the room rental. If that happened to me I'd not be a happy chap either.
+1
11. So where is cheapest for them? I'm not enjoying the Roto Monel flats I have on it at the moment.
12.
Sale of Goods Act covers you upto 6 years. I took a 3 year old Xbox 360 back for free repairs due to poor workmanship.
5 years in England. 6 years in Scotland. But after the first 6 months the burden of proof is on the buyer to show that the faults were there at the beginning, not on the vendor.
13. Selling my lovely Parker NItefly-M guitar. Last one on ebay went for about £840.00 (in the USA). Pickups have been changed for a set of EMG 81/85. Piezo's work perfectly and the almost-impossible-to-find-as-a-replacement trem arm is there. It also comes with the official padded gig bag. It started life as natural mahogany but the previous owner (a good luthier himself) had it professionally stained black. It is in VERY good condition and has that wonderful Parker neck. Volume and tone controls for the EMGs and a Volume for the Piezo. The second 3 way switch is to select electric pickups, blend or just the piezos. The Piezos actually sound better than the plugged in sound on my old Yamaha electro-acoustic I used to have. More photos to follow, but this is a start: I would much prefer collection as there is no hard case - only the official gig bag. Collection would be from near J16 on The M1, Northamptonshire. A pretty rare bit of kit can be yours for £775.00 ta
14. Home use only, never cranked, excellent condition. I am the first owner. I got it from Andertons last year. Last time I saw one of these on ebay it went for over £450.00!! So £425.00 ish to you lot. Collection from Northants. I would consider trades for (long shot I know) a Cyrus CD6SE2 cd player.
15. If tthiggins hasn't bought it, I'll have that if it can be delivered for a sensible fee.
16. Tech 21 VT pedal. It will go dirtier than a real ampeg and has a more powerful EQ than a real ampeg amp. That should be enough to get over the non-ampeg-ness of your cab.
17. Cor blimey guvnor!!! That's lovely!
